💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 38’s Suicide Penguins(SPS) and Server 73’s The Arcane(ARC).

💠Overview

ARC finished the first phase with a 7–1 record and carried that momentum into the playoffs, defeating MAD, JLA, and GOD en route to the Top 16 where they beat BxB to make the quarterfinals. SPS finished the first stage with a 3-0 record. They are Server 38’s farm alliance so they typically only play enough games to qualify for the playoffs. They lost to AoW before running the gauntlet against ICE, HMB, Mbl, and DAM to make the Top 16 where they dismantled WIB.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

ARC

  • Started with 27 players and ended with 30
  • 14 Attack talents
  • 10 Defense talents
  • 3 Support talents

SPS

  • Started with 28 players and ended with 30
  • 13 Attack talents
  • 11 Defense talents
  • 4 Support talent

💠Tower 1

SPS sent four players to Tower 1 in a disorganized formation with poor spacing, while ARC chose to fully concede the objective as the top-sided team. With no opposition, SPS should be able to secure the tower easily.

💠Tower 4

SPS sent eight players to the south side of Tower 4, exploiting an area where ARC lacked spawn access to block relocations. ARC committed five players, likely not expecting SPS to contest the tower as the bottom-sided team. This gave SPS a strong positional and numerical advantage around the objective, allowing them to establish control of key spaces early.

💠Central Tower

SPS committed 14 players to the Central Tower while ARC sent 19, giving ARC a clear numbers advantage in the middle. However, ARC’s early game becomes difficult if they fail to establish control quickly, since SPS is likely to secure both outer towers and build an early point lead. This makes it critical for ARC to win the initial fights in the center, take space early, and capture the tower as soon as it opens to offset the deficit from the side objectives.

💠Altars

ARC sent one player to the Moon Altar. Neither team sent anyone to the Sun Altar.

💠Home Towers

Both teams had one player guarding their respective home towers.

💠Play-by-Play

At Tower 1, SPS faced no resistance and quickly moved to siege the objective. With ARC choosing not to contest, SPS captured the tower just a couple of minutes into the match and secured early control without any pressure.

At Tower 4, ARC failed to block or destroy any incoming relocations, immediately putting themselves at a disadvantage. SPS capitalized on the clean setup, quickly focusing down targets and zeroing several defenders in rapid succession. With control of the surrounding space established, SPS captured the tower just a few minutes into the match, putting ARC in a difficult position early.

At the Central Tower, ARC struck first and secured the opening kill, but SPS quickly responded and began gaining the upper hand. Despite losing the first member, SPS was consistently dealing more damage and soon zeroed two additional ARC players. ARC attempted to push forward, but many of their relocations were poorly positioned and too far from teammates, allowing SPS to destroy them easily. SPS maintained constant pressure, picking off targets while ARC struggled to stabilize. By the time the Central Tower became capturable, ARC had already lost roughly half of their presence in the area. SPS capitalized immediately, capturing the tower at the 11-minute mark to secure their fourth objective. ARC attempted counterattacks on Towers 1 and 4 but failed to make any progress, and SPS eventually extended control to all five towers.

💠Summary

SPS dominated the match, defeating ARC 100,000 to 16,000, with Snowe earning MVP honors. ARC struggled from the very beginning and was largely uncompetitive throughout, consistently losing both solo trades and defensive engagements, which highlighted a clear gap in build strength and execution. SPS maintained control across the map with little resistance and never allowed ARC to stabilize or mount a comeback. SPS advances to face their sister alliance AoW, while ARC is eliminated, marking a rare outcome where Server 73 does not have a team in the top three.
