Every player knows that the Castle is the beating heart of their territory. It is the core structure that dictates how fast you can farm, how much gold you can hoard, and how quickly your troops and research advance. But many lords overlook a critical tactical advantage hidden right inside the throne room: Castle Officers.

Think of these officers as your cabinet of ministers. While you are busy on the front lines, these Immortals stay behind to streamline your empire's efficiency. If you want to stop simply playing and start dominating, you need to understand how to manage your staff.

Outline:

  1. The Three Pillars of Governance
  2. The Math Behind the Might
  3. What do they do?
  4. The "Set and Forget" Trap
  5. Verdict

The Three Pillars of Governance

In the world of Norheim, castle officers are divided into three distinct roles, each managing a specific branch of your development:

  • The Treasurer: Focuses on resource production buffs for your farms, lumber mills, quarries, and smelteries (though they notably don't affect dwellings).
  • The Commander: Essential for military might, providing buffs for troop training speeds and hospital recovery.
  • The Scholar: The key to rapid progression, boosting the speeds of both building construction and technology upgrades.

You won't have access to all of them at once. Much like your own rise to power, these slots unlock as your Castle reaches specific milestones. For instance, you get your first Treasurer at level 13, your first Commander at level 15, and your first Scholar at level 17. To maximize your potential, you’ll eventually want to fill all three slots for each category as you climb toward Castle level 29.

The Math Behind the Might

Choosing an officer isn't just about picking your favourite Immortal; it’s a numbers game. The total bonus you receive is the sum of the Initial Value plus the Growth Value.

An Immortal’s rarity determines their starting power. A Chaos Immortal is a titan even at level one, offering a 7% initial buff, whereas an Epic Immortal starts at 5%. As you boost and upgrade your Immortals to increase their Aptitude, their growth value kicks in, making them even more effective over time.

What do they do?

They just speedup everything and allow players to maximize their potential and progress. A choice of immortal plays a big role in the creation of synergies that allow for a more efficient game play.

The "Set and Forget" Trap

Most players fall into the habit of assigning an Immortal and never looking back. That is a mistake. With the addition of Immortal fragments in the Harbor, it is now much easier to get your hands on Chaos Immortals. Even a non-maxed Chaos Immortal often provides a higher score than a fully maxed Epic.

The real secret to high-level play is scenario-based switching. We change our Lord Talents before a fight, so why wouldn't we change our officers based on our current goals?

  • The Build Phase: If you are pushing for a new Castle level or a major tech breakthrough, put your absolute best Immortals in the Scholar positions.

  • The War Phase: During Contention of Lords, KvK, or Illusion Battlefield, move your heavy hitters to the Commander slots to keep your hospitals empty and your barracks full.

  • The Off-Season: When things are quiet and you're just stockpiling, pivot everything to the Treasurer to maximize your resource income.

Verdict

Castle Officers are more than just a menu option; they are a lever for growth. By matching the right rarity to the right role and being willing to swap them as your needs change, you can significantly outpace your rivals.

Before we dive into specific Immortal synergies, what level is your Castle currently? Share me in your thoughts in comments. One potential blind spot in this strategy is the cost of constant resets if you're using those Immortals in your main marches—have you considered how officer assignments might conflict with your primary teams?
