💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 73’s Snugglebunnies(BUNS) and Server 70’s AllStar(GODS). GODS’ positions in this match will be denoted in green while BUNS’ will be in red.

💠Overview

BUNS versus GODS is a matchup between two similarly structured teams entering at 2–0. Both alliances are limited in attendance, typically fielding only 15 to 20 players per week. BUNS is operating without much of its usual roster, as many of their core players are currently in a sister alliance for KvK, while GODS serves as the alt alliance of Server 70’s GOD. Despite the reduced lineup, BUNS brings far more tournament pedigree as last season’s runner up and should be favored going into this match.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

BUNS

  • Started with 16 players and ended with 20
  • 9 Attack talents
  • 3 Defense talents
  • 4 Support talents

GODS

  • Started with 16 players and ended with 19
  • 10 Attack talents
  • 16 Defense talents
  • 0 Support talents

💠Tower 1

At Tower 1, both teams committed six players and contested the top left corner spot next to the tower. BUNS held a positional advantage, with more players placed close to the tower and a compact, well-grouped formation, while GODS were more spread out. Given the low attendance on both sides, GODS should have conceded Tower 1 and instead stacked the Central Tower and Tower 4, where they held a positional advantage as the top-sided team. In matches with limited attendance, sacrificing one tower to secure the other two is far more important than splitting forces evenly.

💠Tower 4

At Tower 4, BUNS sent four players while GODS committed five. Despite being the top-sided team and theoretically holding a positional advantage, GODS had poor spawns and no usable edge spawns to block incoming relocations. As a result, neither side was able to gain a clear early edge, and both teams ended up with fairly similar formations around the tower.

💠Central Tower

At the Central Tower, BUNS sent three players while GODS intentionally gave it up in the opening minutes to focus on controlling Tower 1 and Tower 4. In a low-attendance match, this approach is reasonable, as objectives typically do not require heavy commitment to contest early. This strategy also bought GODS time to try to secure the two outer towers, with the option to rotate into the center later if an early push failed.

💠Altars

GODS sent one player to each altar. BUNS opted to leave those uncontested.

💠Home Towers

GODS stationed two guards at their home tower. BUNS had two at theirs.

💠Play-by-Play

BUNS opened Tower 1 by blocking one relocation and destroying another, then immediately began the siege and captured the tower about a minute later. They followed up by bombarding GODS with solo attacks, but progress was slow and damage was minimal. BUNS also destroyed a latecomer’s relocation to limit reinforcements. Around six minutes into the match, BUNS shifted to using rallies, at which point GODS drew first blood. BUNS answered shortly after with a zero of their own and picked up another two minutes later. GODS continued to send reinforcements, some of which were blocked by BUNS, while others managed to return to the outskirts of the tower.

At Tower 4, BUNS relied heavily on solo attacks while GODS focused their pressure through rallies on a single target. BUNS struck first by zeroing one defender, after which two GODS reinforcements arrived from spawn. A GODS player then relocated behind BUNS’ line and punished a non-garrisoned target for a zero. BUNS responded decisively by flying two GODS players and then eliminating another shortly after. As the trades continued, BUNS gradually built a numbers advantage around the tower and did a solid job blocking incoming relocations. By the 17 minute mark, BUNS fully surrounded the objective and captured Tower 4.

At the Central Tower, GODS chose not to contest the objective, allowing BUNS to capture it uncontested at the 11 minute mark. A single GODS player attempted an invasion around 19 minutes into the match, but was quickly eliminated. From that point on, the Central Tower remained firmly under BUNS control for the rest of the game.

Back at Tower 1, GODS continued to funnel players into the fight while BUNS prioritized sending reinforcements to Tower 4, leaving Tower 1 relatively unsupported. Over time, GODS slowly won the war of attrition, zeroing the remaining defenders and eventually stealing the tower at the 25 minute mark. However, the timing was far too late to matter, as BUNS had already built a 32,000 point lead by holding four towers for an extended stretch.

BUNS did not give up after losing Tower 1. They relocated six players south of the objective, and GODS failed to block or destroy those incoming relocations. BUNS picked off two low-health defenders and moved directly next to the tower, while GODS again missed opportunities to disrupt the landings. With proper support, BUNS quickly established five players adjacent to the tower, zeroed three nearby defenders, and reclaimed Tower 1 at the 35 minute mark. GODS could have prevented this by better surrounding the tower, but several of their players were positioned too far to the right to offer meaningful support. Their attempts to counterattack at Tower 4 also failed, leaving them unable to recover.

💠Summary

BUNS defeated GODS 100,000 to 32,900, with Labubu earning MVP. Both teams could have benefited from conceding one tower to overload the other two objectives, but BUNS’ experience ultimately made the difference. Despite the win, BUNS leaned too heavily on solo attacks early and should rely more on rallies during the first phase, when builds are relatively even. GODS struggled with relocations at Tower 1, missed opportunities to pivot to the Central Tower after losing it early, and failed to properly surround objectives once captured. The result moves BUNS to 3–0, while GODS drops to 3–1.
