When Every Point Matters: RoD vs WxD (UC)

Lady Vhaera has been waiting for this match for days now, ever since RoD defeated KAC she has looked on with anticipation. She could not get rid of that feeling, she counted the days and nights. The Ultimate Conquest was an important event in her life, Lady Vhaera has always been competitive, and this event was perfect, it focused on team work, it was not all about a single warrior or a single battle. It was a trial of practice, commitment, and determination. Only the best would win, only the alliance that is able to work together the best, to work as one machine. RoD's road in the conquest had been very successful, but now in round 4, things became more serious. Winning this match would bring the winner straight into the first semifinal, one step close to the become champions of UC. Something RoD has never reached, at least not yet, and the idea of winning alone gave Lady Vhaera butterflies and strength to keep fighting.

The day of the battle is finally here when Lady Vhaera woke up, the air was cold and thin, she knew this was only the calm before the storm. In the distance she saw Hyber talking to the old Jackdaws. They made plans together to scout the battlefield before the match would start. When Lady Vhaera looked over the battlefield, she could not stop her shivering. She had seen it many times before, but each time it filled her with excitement. Hyber noticed and Laughed at her, which annoyed Lady Vhaera but in a playful manner. She said to Hyber, instead of laughing at me, tell me the plan again. B3nni had been very clear the night before, everyone should know the plan by heart now. Hyber rolled his eyes, but answered anyway, "First, they would go for the mother, then the outposts, and only then the warrior. Next, the ports, Casterly Rock and the mines.". Easier said than done, Jackdaws said out loud without noticing he had said it. " It has to be done" Hyber said. All three nodded.

Still, she knew this would not be an easy match. RoD was facing WxD, an alliance known for their strength and determination, an alliance she respected. WxD is also known for their strategy and their leaders, they are seasoned warriors and make little to no mistakes. But every mistake they did make RoD needed to exploit to the fullest.

When the battle began, 70 RoD fighters stood across 68 WxD warriors, a small advantage for RoD, but too small to make a difference. When the sun reached its peak, everything started off.

The racers took off within a second. RoD was quick and certain, and managed to capture both the Mother and the Warrior, as well as the Targaryan outpost. But maybe a little too quick, as when RoD tried to swap the outpost, WxD intercepted perfectly. "Is this how the battle will go on?" Lady Vhaera thought to herself. Then Jackdaw's old voice spoke over the gasps, "We will get it back, have faith," and that RoD had. The opening of the battlefield came to rest in an uneasy truce, both sides had two buildings, but WxD was ahead.

The tension was greater when the rest of the swaps had to be made, after the misstep with the outpost. Now it was Crooner's turn to show what he was made of, he disbanded the warrior and with perfect timing, Meridianos made it his home. B3nni was also able to swap into the Mother. Lady Vhaera let go of her breath, one she had no idea she was holding, she thought to herself, "The outpost was just a fluke, Jackdaws was right." Still, she waited with a watchful eye, WxD could always retaliate with their own counterattacks.

But nothing happened.

The time went by and WxD remained in the same position. It was the uneasiness which Lady Vhaera was beginning to feel, though silently, as a lack of confidence on the part of WxD usually betokened no more than confusion. It usually meant intention. Then the pressure began.

WxD began to woo the Mother, not foolishly and wildly, but gradually and with a plan in it, compelling RoD to take notice. RoD reacted by shifting their attention to the Lannister outpost, and gave them their own rally. OfSimpleMind managed to capture it in a nutshell, and a moment of time Lady Vhaera felt proud of her friend, as he managed to achieve success under pressure.

She also realized that he could not hold on too long.

This is why OfSimpleMind disbanded the outpost, without a moment of hesitation, when he saw that Lord Orval was still marching towards the outpost. The swap was perfect, WxD was too late, and was only able to look as RoD's reinforcements filled the outpost. But WxD would never give up and made rallies on rallies, trying to get back in the lead.

As the ports were opened, all was chaos. RoD and WxD both took action. RoD, on their side, Alexander58 was the first to reach their port, and took it cleanly, while Ms. Ellen had taken the Targaryen port nearly at the same time. RoD hastily threw Relax into their port, and WxD did the same, and gave it strength and experience by placing Wangchuang into theirs.

But during the chaos, Misha saw an opportunity. WxD had lost focus on the Targaryen outpost and he was able to retake it back for RoD. Correcting a mistake that has bothered Lady Vhaera from the start.

Now, came the moment every warrior on the battlefield had waited for, the one building that could change the outcome of every match.

Casterly Rock.

Lady Vhaera let out a small cheer when she saw that Night Trek was able to reach the castle first. Claiming the castle for RoD, but it was far from over. As now it was time for Ur Candy to swap into the building and almost secure the match for RoD. Everyone held their breath, the time was here, Night Trek disbanded the building and UR Candy was in, and Casterly Rock was in absolute control. Everyone felt it, both RoD and WxD, the match was over, before the mines even opened.

The mines made no changes in the outcome of the battle, it only increased the margin in which RoD had won. WxD kept on fighting till the very last, but victory was not with them, at least not this time. RoD had claimed both of the mines when they opened up. Strike claimed the right mine as the last action of the fight.

RoD had defeated WxD, they had made it to the first semi-ultimate of Ultimate Conquest, facing BDR, their sworn enemies. But now it was not the time to think about this. Now it was time to celebrate with her friends, winning the match was a great achievement, one that should not be forgotten. There was still a chance RoD would meet BDR again, only the old gods could tell our fates.. Before Lady Vhaera left the battlefield, she looked at the battlefield one last time, this time, there were no shivers, this time she felt great satisfaction. She drove into the night with her friends beside her, tonight we feast, tomorrow we prepare for the next battle.
