Summer had begun in Westeros and even in the evening the heat was so oppressive, that most of NOX warriors that had been summoned in the Great Hall, were holding their armour in their hands refusing to don it, a single second earlier than it was necessary to.
MickyVee, who was a NOX official, looked at the sorry bunch of warriors, and sighed. Of course everyone would have preferred for NOX to qualify for Ultimate Conquest, but still Ruins Rivals could be fun. If he managed to convince them, that was.
Belore, who together with Scythe, would be NOX’s strategist for the evening, appeared very energetic and chipper and started explaining the event, with a lot of useful details.
We will be the defending army, aka the Barren army, and our opponents need to occupy our ruins and cleanse them…….
ChristianOr leaned back and closed her eyes to concentrate better on Belore’s instructions. Ten minutes later, a hard elbow on her ribs jolted her awake.
Did you get that all, Chris? drawled Lord Strandli in a teasing way.
For the love of the Warrior, Belore was actually still speaking.
So, the rally leads would need to be ready to solo any desolate ruin that gets taken, as we only have one minute and half to kick them, after their bubble drops, he was going on.
Of course I did, she replied looking at him belligerently. She had no idea how, but she would need to make a killing tonight, both to wipe the smirk of Lord Strandli’s face and to prove her worth to her new alliance. Determinedly she took her place on the battlefield, next to Bearface.
The first few minutes were so chaotic she was not sure what she was doing, but she noticed that the enemy had the warrior and decided to try her luck with a solo.
Oh I could get to like this event, she thought to herself smugly. And since the warrior was still held by the enemy she decided to solo again.
Her hit dislodged 9 defenders, so No Ah who was following her, managed to capture.
Oh I totally have this, I wonder why people have difficulties, she kept thinking to herself. I will just get the buildings lower, so the rest of my ally can capture them and stay free to defend the desolate ruins.
She searched around for her next victim, and discovered a mine held by Hrabia Mis reinforced with nine people. She was elated as with nine people she could not outright kick. She arranged her troops, and sped her attack, but as she homing in, she saw with the corner of her eye, someone passing her and leaving the mine with just two defenders as she was about to hit. And yes, she captured the building.
At the same time, Belore called the rally leads to spam solo, the first of the desolate ruins that had been captured by the enemy.
ChristianOr panicked. What would she do now? She looked around and surreptitiously abandoned the mine, paying no one would notice. It was the first time she abandoned a building, but if there was one thing she had caught from Belore’s instructions was that if they lost the strongholds they would lose.
As soon as the bubble dropped, all the NOX rally leads attacked. To her immense surprise as the ruins were held by a cavalry warrior, it was her attack that dislodged him.
Her risk had paid off!!
Scythe immediately called for reinforcements.
Reinforce Chris, please, she asked calmly with her melodious voice.
The NOX warriors indeed did an admirable job of reinforcing the ruins she was holding.
The rallies started hitting fast and furious.
And ChristianOr realised Budmen was not very happy with having been kicked and wanted to reclaim his ruins. And there was absolutely nothing she could do to stop him.
The next attacker was from the same alliance and ChristianOr spotting a female synergy paled. For the love of the Maiden, they were coming with cavalry again? She tried to rearrange the defenders and they all braced for the impact.
Haha, that was a lucky break, Belore called, in relief. No one had expected that the attacker would be using female synergy with bows.
First smiles started appearing but Budmen had not said his final word. Once more he attacked and this time, he was unstoppable. ChristianOr to her horror saw herself losing the ruins.
Bearface, she called in desperation.
On it, he said calmly and set out to wait for Budmen’s bubble to drop.
True to his word, Bearface attacked immediately and regained the ruins for NOX. Cheers were heard, and none was more relieved than ChristianOr. There was no way Budmen would be able to kick Bearface, so those ruins at least would be safe.
There was chaos all over, as the four combined armies kept hammering the desolate ruins of the Barren army, but NOX seemed to hit the ruins rival within their stride and they somehow retained control of the battlefield. Most of the rally leads were defending their ruins, so once the bottom one got attacked, only ChristianOr was free. She did not hesitate for a second, attacking ferociously and capturing.
Once more NOX flocked to her side to assist her with the defense.
She fended off a half rally from Eventilos, when both she and Scythe spotted her nemesis coming with a full rally.
Fill Chris please fast, Scythe called desperately. She is at the bottom.
Budmen hit and he won, but he did not kick enough to take the ruins.
On and on he attacked, but NOX was determined. For every soldier Budmen killed, two appeared to take his place. The whole defense passed like a fevered dream for ChristianOr who realised the match had ended when people started leaving her ruins.
Nice defense in the end, Chris, called Scythe, her voice having regained its melodic tones after the stress of the match was over.
I would never had held it, if you did not keep calling for reinforcements., ChristianOr admitted.
That is why we are a team, dear, and welcome to NOX, told her Scythe and smiled warmly.
