HELLO AND WELCOME TO HONORS’ CORNER!!!
Introduction
When players talk about healing in Infinity Kingdom, they usually think of skills like Vitality Touch or Spring of Life. There is a skill that often gets overlooked: Energy Shield. While not labelled as a healing skill, one could argue that its effect—absorbing incoming damage and converting part of it into healing—serves the same purpose. In this article, we'll look at Energy Shield as a form of sustain, explore its mechanics, how it synergises with other skills like Vitality Touch and Spring of Life, and how to use all three in your march for PvP and PvE.

1. What is Energy Shield and How Does It Work?

Energy Shield is a passive skill that activates when the immortal takes damage. It absorbs a portion of that damage and then heals the unit for a percentage of the damage prevented. In essence, it reduces how quickly a unit's health drops and provides a mini-regeneration effect. It's particularly valuable in long battles, as it elongates survivability beyond what raw healing alone can offer.
2. Is It a Healing Skill in Disguise?
Technically, no—it's classified as a damage mitigation skill. But from a gameplay perspective, it's very much a sustain tool. By converting absorbed damage into health, Energy Shield actively restores your unit's vitality. Unlike burst heals, it spreads out that healing effect based on how much damage you're taking, making it especially useful for frontliners and tanks constantly under pressure.
3. Skill Synergy: Energy Shield, Vitality Touch, and Spring of Life
This trio of skills forms a sustainable synergy loop:
- Energy Shield reduces and partially heals from damage taken.
- Vitality Touch gives a direct, focused heal when needed most.
- Spring of Life provides passive healing each time a skill is cast.
Combined, they cover all bases—damage reduction, burst recovery, and passive regeneration. The beauty is in the layering. Energy Shield slows health loss, Vitality Touch patches key targets, and Spring of Life keeps everyone topped off during skill rotations. It's not overkill—it's insurance.
4. PvP and PvE March Builds That Use This Combo
In PvP, use this setup in a sustained march such as:
Zenobia + Qin Emperor + Hippolyta + Hannibal
Zenobia runs Vitality Touch, Qin uses Spring of Life, and Hannibal or Hippolyta runs Energy Shield to stay alive under heavy focus.
In PvE, especially boss fights:
Theodora + William/Trajan + Wu + Hippolyta
Theodora equips Vitality Touch, Wu cycles fast with Spring of Life triggering often, and William tanks with Energy Shield. It softens boss bursts and recovers HP through sheer synergy.

An example of how Energy Shield has proven it’s worth in a long duration PvE battle. Impressive number of attempts (45) 92% with an Accuracy Rate of 100%. 1 heal = 521k approx. A demonstration of building in Sustain within the synergy of your build.
5. F2P Immortals for Energy Shield
Immortal
Why It Works with Energy Shield
Hannibal Barca
Constantly targeted; shield extends tank life.
Alexander
High frontline uptime; shield buys cooldown time.
Hippolyta
Takes aggro in PvP; shield smooths survivability.
Zenobia
If off-healing, the shield increases durability.
Any immortal consistently on the front line benefits. You want someone durable enough to survive hits and make the healing from the shield worth it.
6. Specialisation Trees and EA Mechanics
Energy Shield scales with Defence and Max HP, not healing bonuses. Specialise in the Defence Tree—focus on Shield Wall, Iron Will, and Tenacity. These nodes amplify shield effects, reduce incoming damage, and improve uptime.
Unlike Vitality Touch or Spring of Life, EA (Elemental Attribute) doesn't directly affect Energy Shield. However, higher EA improves your Immortal's ultimate, which can indirectly contribute to triggering Spring of Life more often if used in rotation.
7. How to Get Energy Shield + Triss Skill Value Rating

NOTE: Skills are rotated during this event, you’ll need to check what skills are available. The rotation is approximately 6 weeks, but it is important to be vigilant.
Energy Shield is a Triss skill, available from: Well of Wisdom packs
- Recharge packs
- Converting KvK ability stones to cinders
- Well of Wisdom Event
💸 Cost: Typically around $900 per full unlock (calculated using the $4.99 pack, offers value per coin)
🪙 F2P Access: Use Ability Stone Fragments from Cold Coin events to chip away at it.
🌟 Final Notes
- Wisdom Well guarantees 1 skill stone draw per 40 coins, making progress reliable
- Keep in mind larger packs may be more convenient but less cost-efficient on a per-coin basis
- Total cost is based on typical rates—exact values can vary depending on current offers and pack structures
- RNG needs to be your friend, luck comes into this
So, in summary: to max out a Triss skill via Wisdom Well, you’ll need 600 Divine Coins, which most cost around $800 if you use the most cost-effective pack options.
Triss Skill Importance Ranking:
- Spring of Life – universal, passive, works in any march
- Vitality Touch – high control, clutch PvP and boss use
- Energy Shield – situational but excellent in sustained fights
8. Best Scenarios for Energy Shield
Energy Shield works best in:
- Sustain PvP builds that rely on surviving longer than the enemy can endure
- Tank-heavy setups where one or two immortals soak most of the damage
- Frontline-focused comps where healing alone isn't enough to prevent collapse
- Mirror control fights, where you need to outlast opponents rather than outdamage them
TIP: Avoid using Energy Shield in pure burst builds, where you aim to eliminate threats quickly—it adds little value when battles end before it has time to shine.

An example of a PvP battle, and we see 100% accuracy rate for Energy Shield when converts DMG recieved to heal.
🌐 Best PvP Scenarios for Energy Shield
Use Energy Shield when facing:
- Sustained control-heavy marches (e.g. Earth/Shadow).
- Surge damage where tanks need an extra buffer.
- Mirror-match durability fights (e.g. Wind/Earth vs Wind/Earth).
It's less effective in high-burst, short skirmishes like Fire or Lightning.

An example of a march using all 3 skills. In this PvP battle, both Vitality Touch and Energy Shield have been shown to attempt Heal. Energy Shield has a 100% Accuracy Rate, while Vitality Touch made 6 attempts with a 28% share of the Heal pie. But the Accuracy Rate is hit & miss. It shows how these skills work in conjunction and offer sustain to a march build.
✅ P2P Sustain PvP March
Here's a well-structured, suggestion for a march:
- Frontline
- Kublai Khan – Energy Shield (front-line tank)
- Charles the Great – Fighting Master or defensive build (tank support)
- Backline
- Fu Fei – Spring of Life (rapid caster, passive regen)
- Theodora – Vitality Touch (support healer)
This gives a balanced front-line duo and supportive back-line synergy:
- Kublai soaks up hits with Energy Shield over time.
- Charles complements Kublai and sustains the frontline.
- Fu Fei triggers teamwide regen every cast.
- Theodora provides burst healing when needed.
I am sure there are plenty of other march build synergies out there. Why not drop a post in the comments? It would be great to hear what other march builds you could suggest for using Energy Shield. We have to remember that for every march there will be a counter. Something to think about when you are facing your next opponent on the battlefield. Also, an idea for a future article, the counter to Energy Shield !!!
9. CONCLSION: Is It Worth It?
Energy Shield is a nuanced, third-tier Triss skill. It doesn't offer the flash or immediacy of Vitality Touch, nor the universal scaling of Spring of Life, but that's not the point—it plays a defensive role.
If you're building a sustained march—yes, Energy Shield deserves a place in your toolkit. It isn't as flashy as a big heal, but it quietly keeps your immortals alive by easing pressure off your healers. Think of it as a health damper—not healing upfront, but stopping the bleeding before it becomes fatal.
✅ Pros:
- Absorbs damage and offers partial regeneration
- Passive (no energy required)
- Works well with high-damage or aggro-prone immortals
- Synergises with healing loops for smooth sustain
❌ Cons:
- Doesn't trigger if not targeted—wasted in backline
- No direct healing on demand
- Ineffective in fast-paced or burst-heavy fights
- Doesn't scale with Healing Bonus or EA
Its value lies in sustained marches—not burst or pure crowd control setups. It thrives when paired with:
- Spring of Life for passive regen per skill
- Vitality Touch for emergency healing
- Support immortals with fast energy cycles
- Defensive trees that enhance damage absorption and regen
When should you buy it? After you've secured Spring of Life and Vitality Touch, especially if you run Earth, Holy, or defensive PvP builds. It's a strong pick for march depth, but not a first-priority Triss skill if you're damage-focused. It's not a skill for every march, but for the right build—particularly PvP sustain, Earth or Holy comps, or control mirrors—it can be game-defining.

In the right build, Energy Shield doesn't just absorb damage—it buys you the time to win.
Final Thought: Test, Adapt, Evolve
Don't treat meta recommendations as fixed rules. Experiment with Energy Shield in your formation—test how it performs against burn-heavy marches, how it scales in long duels, and whether it frees your other immortals to run offensive setups. With regular updates and evolving tactics, staying adaptable is how you are competitive.
