💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins, so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the Week Three Point Phase match between Server 205’s Humble Warriors(Lion) and Server 349’s Straw Hat Pirates(SHP). Lion’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while SHP’s will be in red.

💠Overview
Lion finished sixth in the tournament last season and has been placing high every season since the server’s inception. They’re experienced and they generally play well even after losing most of their players to other servers. They are what mid-tier teams hope to be. SHP, on the other hand, is comparatively inexperienced. Both teams generally field the same number of players every week. Lion should be the favorite to win the match.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
SHP
- Started with 14 players and ended with 24
- 10 Attack talents
- 4 Defense talents
- 1 Support talents
Lion

💠Tower 1
Lion sent seven players to Tower 1 and SHP chose to give it up as the bottom-sided team. I think they should have given up on Tower 4 instead since Lion is closer to Tower 4 than they were to Tower 1. Regardless, all but three Lion players needed to cancel their relocations as soon as they realized SHP wasn’t contesting the tower.
💠Tower 4
Lion sent eight players to Tower 4 with one overlapping two others. He needed to cancel immediately. SHP sent six players to the tower with one overlap. In this case, neither should cancel since the cooldown is longer than the time it takes to get to the tower. Lion had four amazing spawn spots to use to block most of SHP’s relocations, but they only tried to block two. They could have realistically blocked all but one relocation and instantly won control of the tower with that maneuver. A couple of the pirates tried to move into Lion’s side of the tower, but it would never work, especially at Tower 4 when they were the bottom-sided team.
💠Central Tower
Lion opted to give up control of the center entirely in the opening minutes. SHP sent four players. There were slight gaps between the players and the tower.
💠Altars
Neither team went to either altar.
💠Home Towers
Neither team opted to guard their home towers in the opening minutes.
💠Play-by-Play
Lion didn’t cancel any relocations to Tower 1 which means all seven players were stuck doing nothing for nearly five minutes. They captured the tower a minute after they landed.

At Tower 4, Lion blocked three relocations, leaving only three others to fend for themselves. Lion immediately took the chance to seize the tower, zero an enemy, and nab control of the area. SHP tried to send six more players to Tower 4, but Lion zeroed three more, destroyed a relocation, and blocked a couple of them as well. By the 10-minute mark, Lion cleared all of the thieves from the vicinity and surrounded the tower. SHP would not give up and kept trying to send more players. With Towers 1, 2, and 4 in their control, all Lion had to do was hold them.

At 7 minutes, five Lion players from Tower 1 tried to relocate to the center. Two got blocked and one relocation was destroyed. Eventually, three players made their way to the far north side of the Central Tower, but SHP already had the tower completely surrounded. Every attempt by Lion to get closer was met with resistance. SHP was able to capture the Central Tower at the 13-minute mark which slowed down the widening gap in points.

At the same time, Lion had three members relocate to SHP’s home tower where three guards resided. The guards could have destroyed all three relocations, but they were caught sleeping on the job and let the invaders complete their journey. Lion zeroed an enemy and two more of their teammates showed up, but Lion also failed to destroy two relocations coming from SHP’s spawn. With so many players already in the spawn, the short distance to defend Tower 3 meant Lion could never gain control. It took SHP a while, but they completely repelled the invasion by 25 minutes.

Lion’s attempt at the Central Tower and Tower 3 meant the defense at Tower 1 was weak. SHP relocated two players to Tower 1 and the lone guard failed to destroy any of the relocations. The guard was also far from the tower. Lion tried to send reinforcements, but it was too little and too late. SHP stole the tower at the 20-minute mark and zeroed the guard, eliminating Lion’s win condition and establishing their own with control of three towers.

Meanwhile, Lion was still trying to wrestle control of the Central Tower and defend Tower 4. A few minutes later, multiple Lion players relocated and teleported to Tower 1, zeroed the three enemies, and finally had control to retake the tower. Just as it looked like the objective was theirs, two pirates teleported in and stopped their siege. SHP zeroed one, but Lion replaced him with three more. It would be another nine minutes before Lion finally overwhelmed the two pirates and took the tower back at the 39-minute mark. By this point, SHP created a massive 14,000-point lead with 20 minutes left. They would only be able to overcome the lead if they somehow stole the Central Tower and held two other towers. Their gambit in the center eventually lost them Tower 4 which was the final nail in the coffin.

💠Summary
SHP’s Noob Luffy was the match MVP as the pirates stole the match with 100,000 points to Lion’s 71,200. Lion played the early game extremely well, grabbing control of Towers 1 and 4 with relative ease, but they got greedy. They decided to attack multiple fronts at the same time despite not having enough players to do so. Too many players were on the Central Tower and Tower 3 which left Towers 1 and 4 weakened. All they had to do was surround Towers 1, 2, and 4 with all of their players and SHP would have had a much harder time. It would force SHP to either teleport or relocate and then Lion could answer with their own teleports. Unfortunately, their indecisiveness gave SHP multiple opportunities to retake towers and Lion’s gambit in the center was fruitless. Lion will need to return to the form that got them into the top 10 last season if they want to return to that stage this season. SHP proved themselves to be formidable opponents against other mid-tier teams.
