💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins, so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the regular season match between Server 38’s Art of War(AoW) and Server 105’s Along With The Gods(AWG). AWG’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while AoW’s will be in red.

💠Overview
AoW is the reigning IBL champions, and their coordination makes them a contender every season. Outside of IBL, AoW boasts some of the strongest players in the game, which makes it difficult for any server to be competitive against them. AWG, on the other hand, has some of the most dedicated players, but they no longer have the firepower or numbers to be truly competitive in IB anymore. This is a David versus Goliath match with AWG having a tough hill to climb.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
AoW
- Started with 28 players and ended with 31
- 14 Attack talents
- 13 Defense talents
- 1 Support talents
AWG
- Started with 17 players and ended with 25
- 8 Attack talents
- 8 Defense talents
- 1 Support talents
💠Tower 1
AoW relocated eight players to Tower 1 and AWG sent five. AoW’s relocations were impeccable, having four players adjacent to the tower and using their spawn advantage to move into AWG’s side of the tower. AWG ceded complete control of the area around the tower and all of their players are too far from the tower to realistically contribute much. They probably should have contested the Central Tower and Tower 4 instead of wasting time at Tower 1. It would take a miracle for AWG to win Tower 1.
💠Tower 4
AoW overloaded Tower 4 with 13 players with two overlaps while AWG sent eight. AoW knew they had a positional disadvantage as the bottom-sided team, so they tried to overwhelm AWG with numbers and firepower. AWG made great use of their advantage to try to invade AoW’s side of the tower, but they could have waited a couple of seconds to block more relocations.
💠Central Tower
AoW sent three players to the Central Tower and AWG chose to give it up entirely in the early minutes.
💠Altars
AoW sent one player to the Sun Altar and AWG sent one player to the Moon Altar.
💠Home Towers
AoW stationed one guard at their home tower while AWG had two at theirs.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, AoW destroyed two relocations and immediately zeroed the lone AWG who was surrounded by AoW, giving them full control of the tower. AoW captured the tower at the 6-minute mark and proceeded to zero the remaining three enemies with little effort. From there, a couple of players started relocating to AWG’s home tower.

At Tower 4, AWG blocked one relocation. Had they relocated more conservatively in this instance, they could have blocked at least three and destroyed many more. AoW zeroed two in just as many minutes. With AWG failing to block AoW’s strongest player’s relocation, they had little recourse. By 15 minutes, all but two AWG players remained. Many AoW players moved to AWG’s home tower, so the two were able to keep AoW from taking Tower 4 for some time. It took AoW nearly another four minutes to wipe the field and finally take the tower at the 20-minute mark. It almost felt like AoW was playing with their food a little bit.

AWG started moving a couple of players to the Central Tower at the 9-minute mark, but it proved to be a waste of time because neither of them could get close to the tower to make an impact. AoW captured the Central Tower at the 13-minute mark with little resistance, giving them their third of the match.

AWG knew AoW was targeting their home, so they surrounded the tower with six players. At the 10-minute mark, AoW’s strongest player, who was decimating AWG at Tower 4, teleported to Tower 2 and wreaked havoc there too. A couple more AoW players teleported in, and four minutes later, most of AWG had been ousted from their home tower. AoW stole the tower a couple of minutes later, which gave them their fourth tower.

At the same time, AWG was relocating to AoW’s home tower. They garrisoned the tower from afar, and none of AoW’s guards could keep them out. AWG stole the tower at the 17-minute mark, but lost it six minutes later when AoW’s strongest player came back to reclaim it. By 25 minutes, AoW controlled all five towers and created an insurmountable 30,000-point lead. AoW would go on to hold all of the towers for the rest of the match, and AWG could not mount a comeback on any of the towers.

💠Summary
AoW’s Milk was the match MVP and deservedly so, as he single-handedly gave AoW control of Towers 2, 3, and 4 at various points throughout the match. None of AWG’s players could match his strength. AoW’s early minutes and relocations were also impeccable, and it’s not a wonder that they’re the reigning IBL champions. AWG’s best players weren’t in the match, but it may not have made a difference. They do not have enough players to field, and their coordination isn't as good as AoW’s. AWG did what they could with the numbers they had, but it was always going to be an extremely tough battle for them. They could have played their early game better by giving up Tower 1 to contest the center instead, but it likely wouldn’t have made a difference in the end.
