💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins, so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the regular season match between Server 105’s Along With the Gods(AWG) and Server 170’s Sexy as Fck(SF). AWG’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while SF’s will be in red.

💠Overview
AWG and SF just got out of KvK as enemies, in which AWG bested SF. SF has stronger players in its alliance and can usually field more players in every IB. SF has been generally better than AWG in IBL as well, ranking higher in most seasons. On paper, SF should have the upper hand in both numbers and strength, so one would expect SF to win this match.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
SF
- Started with 25 players and ended with 35
- 7 Attack talents
- 15 Defense talents
- 3 Support talents
AWG
- Started with 17 players and ended with 26
- 8 Attack talents
- 9 Defense talents
- 0 Support talents
💠Tower 1
AWG relocated five players to Tower 1, with only one player directly next to the tower. The others gave up control of the east side of the tower to gather around the north side. SF sent nine players to the tower, with three players adjacent to the tower, one on each side. AWG could have blocked SF’s relocation to the right side of the tower had they not given up the spot. While AWG’s positioning isn’t the best, they are grouped and compact. On the other hand, SF’s relocations were all over the place. Some are so far out that they wouldn’t be realistically able to contribute greatly. Unless AWG sent some of their strongest players to Tower 1, five players wouldn’t be able to stall or take the tower from SF.
💠Tower 4
AWG sent seven players to Tower 4 and SF sent eight. None of AWG’s members were next to the tower, and they conceded critical spots. AWG had edge spawns that they could have taken advantage of to block multiple SF relocations. If AWG relocated with the proper players, they could still destroy relocations to give themselves an advantage.
💠Central Tower
AWG sent four players to the Central Tower with one overlap, while SF sent five. With so few players from both sides, the team with the strongest member in the center will win control of the tower. There aren’t enough players to keep stalling until reinforcements show up to make a difference.
💠Altars
Neither team sent anyone to either altar.
💠Home Towers
AWG had one guard stationed at their home tower while SF had four at theirs.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, AWG was able to destroy two relocations and immediately zero another, while SF had to rely on rallies because their players weren’t strong enough to contend with those of AWG. With some latecomers, AWG captured the tower at the 7-minute mark with little resistance. They had removed most of the SF members who were closest to the tower, and the others couldn’t break the garrison. SF kept sending players back to the scene of the crime, but AWG surgically zeroed everyone who came close to the tower. SF should have given up Tower 1 earlier and had those who were respawning move to another tower. AWG could have also had their furthest members relocate next to the tower to give them more control.

At Tower 4, AWG destroyed one relocation while SF destroyed three, giving SF a 7-to-4 advantage. However, it didn’t matter. Those AWG members who made it were stronger than the SF members present. AWG quickly zeroed three players near the tower and held SF off the tower until more AWG showed up. In just a few minutes, it was AWG who wrestled control of the tower’s vicinity. That is, until one of SF’s strongest members relocated to Tower 4 at the 10-minute mark, and AWG didn’t have an answer for him. With his help, SF zeroed multiple players and finally captured the tower at the 18-minute mark, giving SF their second tower of the match to AWG’s three. AWG captured the Central Tower with no resistance.

At the 15-minute mark, a couple of SF players relocated to AWG’s home tower. The tower’s guard fell asleep and didn’t destroy the relocation. SF stole the tower a few minutes later, and a few AWG frantically hustled back to the tower to try to retake it. SF’s hold on the tower didn’t last longer than three minutes. It gave them some points for little effort, but AWG still had a 14,000-point lead 25 minutes into the match.

SF’s next attack came at 20 minutes when SF’s strongest player teleported to the Central Tower, where only one AWG member stood guard. A few more SF members teleported and relocated to the tower. AWG responded with their own relocations and teleports to fend off the attack. SF’s invasion hinged on their strongest members being able to clear some of AWG from the area. Unfortunately for SF, while concentrating on attacking, he forgot to garrison himself. AWG took advantage and zeroed them, putting a stop to SF’s attempt.

SF’s player who led the attack on Tower 4 teleported to Tower 1 at the 23-minute mark. Over the next ten minutes, he proceeded to zero most of the AWG players stationed around the tower. AWG finally ported him, but not before several AWG members took enough damage that the rest of SF could finish the remaining members. SF stole the tower 38 minutes into the match, but they were still down 25,000 points. Even with the three side towers they hold, SF would only generate a net gain of 6,600 points in the remaining 22 minutes. AWG would go on to retake Tower 4 and put the final nail in the coffin.

💠Summary
AWG won the match with 98,000 points to SF’s 68,700. SF had multiple chances to put themselves in a good position to win the match. Firstly, they needed to concede Tower 1 earlier to make a teleport play on the Central Tower. Sending people back to Tower 1 when none of them could handle AWG’s members was a supreme waste of time. Secondly, the attack on the Central Tower failed miserably despite AWG only having one person there because SF’s strongest player could not figure out how to defend themselves. That attempt wasted several of SF’s teleports. Finally, SF needed to split their strongest members across multiple objectives. They should have been able to control the Central Tower had they sent one of their best players there early in the match. For AWG, they need to break relocations and use their own relocations to block SF’s or just use them to move closer to the tower whenever they can. It’s a disappointing loss for SF, who ended with nine more players than AWG, but AWG played fairly well, albeit with slow rotations.
