💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the regular season match between Server 73’s Prideland(PRD) and Server 143’s OZ. PRD’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while OZ’s will be in red.

💠Overview
PRD is currently the home for the IBL runner-ups, BUNS, for KvK. OZ wasn’t as good in the IBL tournament. PRD has a better understanding of the fundamentals than OZ in general. With most of PRD’s players in another alliance for KvK, both alliances are able to field a similar number of players, usually in the mid-20s. PRD should edge OZ out slightly in terms of firepower as well. If PRD’s coordination stays on point, OZ will have a more difficult time winning the field.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
OZ
- Started with 23 players and ended with 27
- 10 Attack talents
- 12 Defense talents
- 1 Support talents
PRD
- Started with 19 players and ended with 23
- 8 Attack talents
- 10 Defense talents
- 1 Support talents
💠Tower 1
PRD sent six players to Tower 1 and OZ responded with five. PRD set up a tight formation directly around the tower, claiming all three of the first-row tiles. OZ, on the other hand, avoided the tower like the plague. None of their players were next to the tower. Their players were spread out and not in range to contest the tower effectively. OZ should have moved next to the tower to disrupt PRD’s attempts to capture the tower. If OZ doesn’t send a strong member to Tower 1, PRD could take it uncontested. The silver lining is that PRD won’t be able to destroy any relocations.
💠Tower 4
PRD relocated eight players to Tower 4 and OZ sent 11. PRD had a couple of good spawn positions that they could have taken advantage of to move into OZ’s territory, but since OZ’s formation is so spread out and far from the tower, it wouldn’t have mattered. PRD’s formation could be slightly better and have four players next to the tower instead of three and one member could have moved closer instead of being diagonal from the tower. OZ had zero players adjacent to the tower and all of the players could have moved closer. This indicates a lack of coordinated markers that denote which player goes where. That said, OZ had the numbers advantage and if PRD doesn’t have a strong player next to the tower, OZ could easily retake control over a few minutes.
💠Central Tower
PRD moved five players to the middle while OZ opted to give it up without a contest. We’re seeing teams do this more and more in regular IB. I think the strategy works fine as long as the strongest players on the team can capture either Tower 1 or Tower 4 and then relocate or teleport to the Central Tower before ten minutes.
💠Altars
PRD did not send anyone to the Moon Altar. OZ sent one player to the Sun Altar.
💠Home Towers
PRD had one person guarding their home tower while OZ had three at theirs.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, PRD and OZ destroyed two relocations each. PRD had the advantage in positioning with players closer to the tower, but OZ had the stronger individual fighters. As the fight dragged on, PRD's numbers started to dwindle while OZ maintained control through sheer force. PRD kept reinforcing the tower, but without sending anyone strong enough to challenge OZ’s top member, their efforts were fruitless. Instead of wasting time at Tower 1, PRD should have rotated to the center or Tower 4 to secure both. OZ used too many relocations to block PRD’s reinforcements instead of pushing closer to the tower. Despite that, they captured Tower 1 at the 12-minute mark.

At Tower 4, PRD destroyed a relocation and immediately sieged the tower. With all of OZ’s players so far from the tower, PRD captured it at the 5-minute mark with little resistance. From there, PRD relocated to surround the tower. Instead of relocating next to their frontline teammates and slowly closing in on the tower, most of OZ’s players didn’t even use their relocations or wasted their relocations moving next to enemies that got destroyed. As time went on, they managed to loosely surround PRD and the tower, but it wasn’t enough. PRD’s strongest member anchored the defense, and OZ could never get close enough to contest the tower. Even when PRD was down to a single defender at the tower, OZ couldn't break through.

PRD captured the Central Tower uncontested at the 12-minute mark, sending four players to secure it while the rest reinforced Tower 4. OZ attempted to relocate to the center as early as the 10-minute mark, but most of their relocations were blocked or destroyed before they could get into position. Over the next 10 minutes, OZ sent a handful of players toward the tower in an uncoordinated siege attempt, but they couldn’t gain meaningful ground. PRD, on the other hand, continued to funnel reinforcements from Tower 1 and spawn, locking down the surrounding area. By the 20-minute mark, PRD had quietly amassed a 15,000-point lead and was knocking on the doors of OZ’s home tower.

At 15 minutes, PRD started moving next to OZ’s home tower and OZ failed to destroy the relocation. Another member teleported in and forced one of the guards to throw up a protection barrier on himself, barring him from doing anything. The other guard was too far away from the tower. They should have surrounded the tower in the opening minutes instead of relocating to the outskirts. Even so, they had ample time to return to the tower. PRD stole the tower at the 17-minute mark, giving them control of four towers. Instead of trying to retake their tower where only two enemies reside, OZ tried to siege PRD’s home tower to no avail.

At 23 minutes, all but two members of OZ relocated elsewhere, and neither were adjacent to the tower. PRD took advantage by moving players from the secured center to Tower 1. OZ blocked one relocation but failed to destroy or block the other three. PRD zeroed one and one OZ player teleported in to defend the tower. PRD responded with their own teleport. PRD zeroed the remaining two guards and again stole the tower at the 28-minute mark. With that, PRD owned all five towers and firmly shut the door in OZ’s face.

💠Summary
PRD’s Strife305 was the match MVP as they won with 100,000 points to OZ’s 17,600. OZ did well to seize Tower 1 and then sent their strongest player elsewhere, but their defenses around each tower were extremely poor. Too many players were too far from the tower they were defending which allowed PRD to move in and take critical positions around the tower. They also need to utilize their relocations more. Too many players are not using their relocations as soon as they are off cooldown to either block enemy relocations or move closer to the tower. OZ could have and should have been able to seize Tower 4 had they moved closer to the tower, slowly dwindled down PRD players, and blocked incoming reinforcements. OZ lacks a fundamental understanding of how to win the event. PRD did a great job of capitalizing on OZ’s poor defense and decision-making.
