What’s up, folks? Welcome to the Patch Preview for Patch 2.8.3. Patch 2.8.3 will be released on Thursday, May 8. The upcoming patch contains details about the teased KvK season merger and migration requirements. Let’s take a look at what the patch entails, the winners and losers of this patch as well as how the changes might affect new and seasoned players.

💠Season Merger

There will be an adjustment to the current KvK season system. This has been teased for several weeks now and we finally know the full details. Currently, servers preparing for KvK are split into Preparation Season, Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, and Conquest Season. In the new system, Season 3 will cease to exist. Servers in Preparation Season and Season 1 will move to Season 1 unchanged. Servers in Season 2 will enter Conquest Season. Servers currently in Season 3 will continue their season until it concludes and will move to Conquest Season thereafter. Additionally, the level caps will also change in this patch. Preparation Season will stay capped at level 40. Season 1 will increase from level 40 to level 50. Season 2 will stay at level 50 and Conquest Season will remain at level 55. To compensate and help younger seasons catch up, resource production, research speed, and building speed will increase.

Winners: Current Conquest Servers as they see newer servers earlier

Losers: Players who want more time before hitting Conquest

💠Migration Requirements

The requirements for server migrations will change as well. Target servers must be at least in the Preparation Season or higher and target servers must be in the same season as the server you are migrating from. This means you cannot transfer from Season 2 to Season 1 and Season 1 to Preparation Season. The point is to prevent players from permanently dodging Conquest Season and force their progression to move forward. It also prevents players who have been playing for a long time to jump backward to younger servers. Often we see new servers pop up and remain competitive among their peers only to have significantly stronger and older players migrate to the server or surrounding servers and dominate everyone. It ruins competitive integrity. Conquest Seasons will also have new blood which is a win for everyone. In my opinion, this is going to be a tough but necessary change. Additionally, the number of Space Portals required to migrate will also be adjusted depending on how often you migrated in the current season. Currently, the portal requirement is based on a player’s lord power. This mostly affects Conquest Seasons as players do not often jump more than once in younger seasons. The tally for Conquest Season players will keep increasing.

Losers: Players wanting to avoid Conquest Seasons and chronic migrators

💠KvK Battle Pass

Battle Passes have taken over the game recently. Golden Path existed first, then Battle Passes for Chaos Immortals, Holy and Shadow Immortals, and monthly events were recently added. KvK passes are no different. The Battle Pass will be featured during the KvK season and players can earn rewards and pass experience by completing tasks and achievements. I think this is a good addition to the game because we have seen that Battle Passes generally give good rewards at a decent price range. I surmise the rewards will contain at least Cold Silver among other things.

Winners: Everyone

Losers: Players who dislike daily tasks and Battle Pass chores

Patch 2.8.3 will mostly affect younger servers. Some players will like the season merger while others will wholeheartedly dislike it. The Space Portal requirements change will force players to consider their migrations more intently. The new Battle Pass should give KvK players a chance to get rewards at a bargain.
