💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the regular season match between Server 73’s Prideland(PRD) and Server 136’s MIAU. MIAU’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while PRD’s will be in red.

💠Overview

PRD is currently the home for the IBL runner-ups, BUNS, for KvK. MIAU didn’t perform as well in the IBL tournament. PRD has a better understanding of the fundamentals than MIAU, but MIAU has the strongest players on the server in their alliance. PRD has some strong players too, but theirs are split between two alliances. PRD can win if they can stop MIAU’s strongest players from getting onto the field by blocking and destroying their relocations before they can teleport. Buying time and playing around other towers will be their objective. MIAU just needs to split their strongest players to hold three towers and throw their weight around. MIAU should have the edge.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

PRD

  • Started with 27 players and ended with 30
  • 5 Attack talents
  • 16 Defense talents
  • 6 Support talents

MIAU

  • Started with 27 players and ended with 38
  • 14 Attack talents
  • 12 Defense talents
  • 1 Support talents

💠Tower 1

MIAU sent 11 players to Tower 1 and PRD matched with nine. MIAU spreaded wide to cover the north and east sides of the tower, but their front line was uneven, leaving gaps near the tower’s edge. Too many of MIAU’s players were too far from the tower. It’s evident they don’t leverage any type of markers. PRD pushed up from the south, using their spawn proximity to maintain a tighter formation, but they had several players stacking awkwardly in the second and even third rows. Ideally, both teams needed 4 players adjacent to Tower 1, but both sides left first-row positions unclaimed, making the fight for those tiles critical. Whoever secures those open frontline spots will gain a major advantage in capturing the tower.

💠Tower 4

PRD sent six players to Tower 4 while MIAU relocated 10, with most of their players positioned two to four rows back. MIAU left the entire east side of the tower and the closest spots around the tower open. MIAU doesn’t quite understand that the top-sided team has closer proximity to Tower 4 than the bottom-sided team. They gave up too many critical spots. MIAU needed to prioritize filling the first two rows tightly to contest any chance of a breakthrough, but instead, they left massive gaps. That said, MIAU has nearly twice as many players as PRD, so if they have a strong player at the tower, they can still easily flip the script.

💠Central Tower

PRD moved 10 players to the Central Tower, while MIAU completely gave it up. PRD heavily prioritizes the Central Tower, reminiscent of their IBL days. Several players should move off the tower to help with one of the side towers, particularly their strongest players, since the tower doesn’t become available until 10 minutes in. You don’t want your strongest players doing nothing for that duration.

💠Altars

MIAU sent two players to the Moon Altar while PRD chose to occupy the Sun Altar from afar.

💠Home Towers

Both teams stationed two guards at their respective home towers.

💠Play-by-Play

At Tower 4, PRD broke the first relocation, but MIAU immediately answered by zeroing one of PRD’s members. PRD attempted to rally MIAU’s strongest player but couldn’t break through. MIAU slowly started dwindling PRD’s numbers through steady solo attacks. As the fight dragged on, MIAU successfully relocated next to PRD’s position, and PRD failed to destroy the new relocations. By the 11-minute mark, PRD was fully zeroed, and MIAU secured control of the tower at 12 minutes.

At Tower 4, MIAU’s strongest player soloed PRD’s top fighter, immediately swinging momentum in their favor. MIAU pushed for the tower and continued the assault, zeroing two more PRD players and leaving only three standing. MIAU captured the tower at the 7-minute mark, with just two PRD members left on the field. After securing the objective, MIAU finished the job by zeroing the remaining PRD players and clearing the area completely. This quickly satisfied their win condition of three towers.

PRD captured the Central Tower with no resistance at the 11-minute mark. A couple moved to MIAU’s home tower. I believe more could have moved to help distract at MIAU’s tower so they would overhelp at Tower 2, opening up some opportunities for PRD to steal either Tower 1, Tower 4, or both.

At Tower 2, PRD moved three players from the Central Tower to the outskirts of MIAU’s home tower. MIAU blocked one relocation, but PRD quickly replaced it. PRD zeroed one defender and managed to steal the tower from afar, as MIAU’s lone guard was too weak to stop the capture. PRD relocated next to the tower, and MIAU’s guards failed to destroy the incoming relocations. MIAU began relocating multiple players from Tower 4 to reinforce Tower 2, but PRD zeroed both existing guards and aggressively blocked and destroyed relocations to keep MIAU at bay. However, by the 19-minute mark, MIAU’s numbers started to overwhelm them. By 23 minutes, MIAU had 14 players on the field against just 2 remaining from PRD. PRD would go on to hold the tower for another 7 minutes until they lost it at the 30-minute mark. PRD also built a sizable 13,000-point lead in that duration.

Meanwhile, MIAU made a move at the 13-minute mark, relocating near PRD’s home tower. PRD failed to destroy an early MIAU relocation that landed close to the tower, allowing MIAU to zero one of the guards. However, too many PRD members were tied up fighting at the Sun Altar instead of reinforcing the tower. Once PRD regrouped, they sent more players to back up Tower 3 and systematically zeroed any MIAU players who got too close. PRD did an excellent job destroying and blocking relocations, cutting off MIAU’s ability to reinforce their assault. Despite early pressure, MIAU was never able to steal the tower.

At the 24-minute mark, MIAU left only three players to defend Tower 4. One PRD player teleported in and immediately zeroed one of MIAU’s defenders. For the next minute, the other two MIAU players bubbled in a last-ditch effort to hold out. One of them attempted to relocate to block a PRD relocation, but instead of canceling the move, the guard allowed the relocation to complete. This mistake gave PRD greater control over Tower 4. MIAU teleported in a player to block PRD’s relocation, but PRD countered with their own teleport. With the clock ticking down, MIAU managed to halt PRD’s tower capture at the very last second. However, PRD’s failure to destroy a couple of relocations and to garrison their teammates’ relocation proved costly. Despite sending four players and launching rallies, PRD couldn’t break MIAU’s final defender. At 34 minutes, as more MIAU players trickled in to reinforce, PRD finally managed to zero the lone MIAU defender and steal the tower but not before losing control of the Central Tower in the process.

At the 21-minute mark, MIAU made a decisive move by teleporting their two strongest players to the Central Tower. The duo wasted no time, quickly zeroing every PRD player in the vicinity. By the 29-minute mark, MIAU had successfully captured the Central Tower. PRD only controlled one tower briefly. Despite their efforts, PRD was never able to retake another tower for the rest of the match.

💠Summary

MIAU’s Kunkun was the match MVP as they triumphed with 99,800 points to PRD’s 71,200. Despite being outnumbered 30 to 38 by the end, PRD played fairly well but struggled with rotational mistakes and were too slow in destroying and garrisoning relocations. A significant issue for PRD was their excessive focus on the Sun Altar, where too many players were engaged in battles that ultimately had no impact on the outcome. They should have went to assist with Tower 1 or Tower 4 earlier. MIAU, on the other hand, did a great job splitting their strongest players across different objectives, knowing they had more firepower.
