💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the playoff match between Server 13’s TYT and Server 209’s War’s Protectors(WP). TYT’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while WP’s will be in red.

💠Overview
TYT came into the playoffs with a 6-2 record, losing once to SSQ and another to WP. They crushed all of their other opponents by a significant margin, but none against decent teams. TYT beat Server 277’s WB in the first round before losing to WP to fall to the silver bracket. There, they defeated WB a second time and beat Server 191’s Inka to get to the silver finals. WP finished the first phase with a 4-1 record, losing only to PRD. In the playoffs, they defeated Server 275’s SA and TYT before losing to PRD again. This will be the third time TYT and WP matched against each other. WP won the first two meetings easily so TYT will have a find an answer to WP in their final bout.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
WP
- Started with 23 players and ended with 30
- 10 Attack talents
- 11 Defense talents
- 2 Support talents
TYT
- Started with 22 players and ended with 27
- 10 Attack talents
- 12 Defense talents
- 0 Support talents
💠Tower 1
TYT sent 11 players to Tower 1 and WP sent 7. TYT is far more disorganized than WP and only had 3 players adjacent to the tower despite having so many members around the area. There are too many gaps between teammates and 1 player is taking up multiple spots next to the tower. TYT could really benefit from marking their front rows. WP conceded a spot on the bottom corner of the tower and left a spot on the front row open. Besides that and the vastly fewer numbers, WP relocated well. TYT’s relocations suggest that they may not have the best teamwork. Even with fewer members, if WP could work together better than TYT could, WP would be able to wrestle control.
💠Tower 4
TYT relocated 8 players with an overlap to Tower 4. WP overloaded with 11 players. TYT’s relocations were as disastrous as their relocations at Tower 1. TYT started well on the right side of the tower and even made use of their top-side advantage to attempt to block relocations. Unfortunately, the positions on the top side of the tower negated the good those relocations achieved. Too many players are too far away from the tower. WP had a typical standard formation with more numbers even if 2 relocations got blocked. With WP’s organization, they should have the upper hand at Tower 4.
💠Central Tower
TYT opted to give up the center while WP sent 4 players. Usually, teams would send 8 or more players to the center so WP got lucky TYT decided to give it up. I would have given up Tower 1 instead of the Central Tower if I was leading TYT.
💠Altars
Neither team opted to move to either altar.
💠Home Towers
TYT had 1 guard at their home tower while WP had 2 at theirs.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, WP quickly zeroed an enemy and reduced another’s prosperity to under half before losing their first defense. Shortly after, another 2 followed. WP was winning solo attacks after solo attacks which suggests a significant gap in the skill builds of the teams. WP had better builds after facing better teams while TYT had no one to copy builds from. TYT also did a poor job of destroying enemy relocations when WP moved to surround the tower. At 12 minutes, WP pushed TYT away from the tower and captured it despite having fewer players.

At Tower 4, TYT blocked 1 ally relocation and 2 enemy relocations. WP zeroed 3 in response in less than 3 minutes and all the TYT members around the tower were no more. TYT focused too much on rallying a single target while WP was just constantly sending solo attacks that TYT had no way to defend against. With an 11 to 6 advantage, WP captured the tower at 7 minutes with little effort. TYT also allowed WP to move closer to them without any effort to destroy the relocations. The remaining TYT players should have moved to the center along with all of the players in spawn to contest to try to steal the Central Tower. Tower 4 was too tightly secured to steal.

With no enemies in the center, WP easily captured the tower at 13 minutes with 4 players. WP should have spent their relocations to surround the tower instead of waiting in the corner. By the time they captured the tower, they would have their relocations back again in case they needed to rotate elsewhere. Capturing the Central Tower gave WP 4 towers and a quick 4,500-point lead.
At 12 minutes, WP players from Tower 4 started relocating to TYT’s home tower where 3 guards were stationed. One mistake TYT keeps making is instead of destroying relocations that are close by that can be easily destroyed, they keep blocking them. Destroying them is better because it wastes the enemies’ time to relocate there and puts the relocation on cooldown which would earn TYT about 5 minutes. Since they block the relocations, the enemies can instantly just relocate again. At 14 minutes, the first WP player arrived near Tower 2 because TYT failed to destroy the relocation. Over the next 5 minutes, more and more WP players trickled in and TYT made zero effort to stop their push. WP relocated to every side of the tower and stole it at the 25-minute mark. That gave him all 5 towers and put the final nail in the coffin.

💠Summary
WP’s Malthael was the match MVP as they won the match with 100,000 points to TYT’s 13,500. TYT just does not have good fundamentals. They fail to relocate properly at the beginning of the match, they are not good at garrisoning their teammates, they lack focus, and they do not even try to destroy relocations. The players’ abilities to assess whether they should block or destroy relocations are nonexistent. On the other hand, WP was excellent at positioning themselves around the tower, they knew who to focus on zeroing, and they planned their next objective. Based on this match, WP looked like a contender, but in reality, they are not as good as some of the other teams in older servers. TYT just failed to make WP show any weaknesses. WP secured a Top 16 berth for themselves while TYT will look forward to next season.
