More benefits, more surprises
The second round of the Alliance Conquest season was upon FuK and Choso, a racer who was highly skilled and motivated, wishing to prove himself yet again, due to this his tension ran high each and every round, the pressure was on him. Their next opponents were, DUM, a formidable alliance with a storied history and an impressive roster of experienced fighters that had even finals of Ultimate Conquest under their belt.
Among these incredible fighters was Strawberry, who was not only strong and a rally leader, but also a racer renowned for their exceptional speed, and that was what made him more dangerous than other rally leaders, as it enabled his alliance to not do swaps. FuK’s confidence, was increased after their first round victory against their rivals FDH, but now after the reveal of their opponents, wavered under the weight of the upcoming challenge. Choso, due to being a racer, was in particular feeling the pressure mounting on his shoulders, but he could not imagine still what their shotcaller, Leviathan, might feel ahead of the battle.
Leviathan, sensing the unease within his alliance after the reveal of the opponents, tried to motivate his team with a speech before the match. “FuK has always thrived under pressure, remember the very last round, do not give up just yet! Remember, it’s not just about skill or strength but about heart, teamwork, and resilience and we have got all of these more than anyone. Choso, do not feel pressure, you’ve shown us what you’re capable of. Don’t let anyone take that from you. Today, we fight not just to win but to prove we belong in the top 16 alliances in Westeros.” were his motivational words for everyone in the team.
Choso nodded, trying to strengthen his resolve, he had always admired Leviathan’s ability to encourage and motivate him, but the stakes felt heavier than ever, the burden has grown more than Choso could handle.
As the countdown to the bubble drop began, Choso prepared himself as best he could for his first race of this match, but he was unmotivated and anxious to do it. His target was as usual, the Warrior, a crucial building for FuK’s strategy as it was helping their armies be stronger than usual even if it lacked points per minute.
Once the timer hit zero, Choso hurried as fast as he could towards the objective, but this time, due to his anxiety, things didn’t go as planned, he was nowhere as fast as in the first round. Strawberry’s march was faster, smoother, and more decisive, reaching the Warrior first, claiming it and swapping the holder effortlessly, as he seemed to be assigned for another building later on. This blow hit Choso hard, as he did not expect such a big difference to show.
This did not demoralise Leviathan, who despite seeing that not only Choso lost, but everyone else as well, he decided to rally the warrior in an attempt to get back at the opponents. But as FuK tried to rally against the Warrior, and were launching attacks over and over to reclaim it, DUM’s defenses were impenetrable. Every attempt was unscuccessful, leaving FuK without a chance until the ports opened up.
After the rallies, the ports were set to unlock next, and Choso knew he had another chance to redeem himself. He focused all of his energy on the upcoming race and as the protection on the ports dropped, Choso raced again, giving it everything he could in order to win. Yet once more, Strawberry was his opponent, it was a rematch and once again, Strawberry outpaced him, securing the port with an almost effortless race, making Choso's emotions boil. Frustration and self-doubt began to creep into his’s mind, he saw Strawberry as someone untouchable, someone he could not compete against.
The battle raged on, but it was clear that DUM had complete control as there was not much that FuK could do, their rallies fell each time, races were lost, they couldn't intercept swaps, they were powerless. But with Leviathan, ever the optimist, he continued to encourage his team, but even he could see the fact that this was impossible to make a comeback in. Choso, however, refused to give up entirely, as for him, he had to give Casterly Rock a try to redeem himself.
The bubble on Casterly Rock dropped, and Choso launched his march, rushing as fast as he could once more. He pushed harder than he did in the previous races, it was noticeable to the other FuK members, but once again, he had lost. DUM secured Casterly Rock, cementing their dominance in the match, but this time it was not Strawberry that won, he had not even raced this time around.
As the timer wore down and the outcome became inevitable, with FuK stopping their rally attempts, Choso took a moment to reflect on the actions of the match. This match had been a harsh lesson in which he had realized that despite his previous victories, there was still much he needed to learn and improve upon, there were many better races than him out there, he needed to get faster.
“We fought well, and we’ll learn from this loss. Even in defeat, we’ve proven ourselves by trying our best and showing determination to improve. Let’s take what we’ve learned and come back stronger.” said Leviathan to every FuK member as the round had come to an end.
They knew this wasn’t the end of the journey as the road to Ultimate Conquest was long, and they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
