💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield(IB) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the week four match between Server 73’s Prideland(PRD) and Server 193’s Kinkiest of Fates(KoF). KoF’s positions in this match will be denoted in yellow while PRD’s will be in red.

💠Overview

Both PRD and KoF were on a three-game winning streak coming into the match and had three wins with zero losses. PRD bested KoF a few times in the past and is generally the better team. KoF consistently does well against other mid-tier and weaker teams but struggles against alliances that have better coordination and more seasoned players. PRD was considered the favorite to win this match.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

KoF

  • Started with 28 players and ended with 34
  • 16 Attack talents
  • 10 Defense talents
  • 2 Support talents

PRD

  • Started with 27 players and ended with 31
  • 9 Attack talents
  • 12 Defense talents
  • 6 Support talents

💠Tower 1

PRD sent 8 players to Tower 1 while KoF overloaded with 13 players with one overlap. PRD had standard relocations with four players adjacent to the tower and no gaps between teammates. KoF had only two players next to the tower despite having significantly more members. Two players relocated to PRD’s side of the territory, leaving them exposed and vulnerable to being destroyed. There are too many gaps between KoF’s members and many players are too far away from the tower. KoF could benefit from spending more of its markers on towers they choose to overload.

💠Tower 4

PRD sent 10 players to Tower 4 and KoF sent 9. Both teams had one overlap each. PRD made a significant blunder by relocating so close to the tower and too far north of the tower where KoF has the positional spawn advantage. Fortunately, KoF was not versed in leveraging its advantage. One tried, but his spawn wasn’t good enough to relocate where he did before his enemies blocked him. KoF gave up many crucial positions around the tower when they could have blocked at least four relocations.

💠Central Tower

PRD sent 5 players to the Central Tower and KoF relocated 6. None of KoF’s players were adjacent to the tower and two were extremely far from it. PRD, on the other hand, had four players around the tower and all of them were next to one another. KoF needs to practice their relocations around the tower.

💠Altars

PRD sent one player to the Sun Altar. KoF left the Moon Altar open.

💠Home Towers

Both alliances had one guard at their home tower.

💠Play-By-Play

At Tower 1, PRD destroyed one relocation and KoF blocked one of their own. PRD quickly zeroed two enemies who successfully relocated to their side of the tower. That nearly erased the numbers KoF had over PRD and brought the battle back to even. Minutes later, PRD deleted another two enemies and then decided to go for the tower at the six-minute mark. With more players and KoF members being so far away from the tower, PRD easily captured the tower within a couple of minutes with little resistance. They continued to rally and attack the remaining enemies, but KoF did not relent. They kept sending members back to the tower.

At Tower 4, PRD canceled a relocation, blocked an enemy relocation, and destroyed two others. Immediately, PRD recognized they had more players around the tower so they activated their two support talents and moved to seize the tower. PRD’s rallies were much quicker and their solo attacks were more potent than KoF’s and it was easy to see that KoF was losing ground quickly. PRD zeroed a few more players and then relocated to surround the tower. KoF was too slow in destroying their relocations. By ten minutes, PRD had full control of every spot around the tower and KoF was getting pushed further and further back. KoF kept sending players back to Tower 4 like they did at Tower 1. They should have relocated to the center instead of fighting a losing battle down south.

In the early minutes in the center, KoF was doing well garrisoning their teammates and rallying the enemies. They were dealing slightly more damage to PRD than receiving. Some latecomers for PRD started moving to the middle and a couple of players from Tower 1 were also relocating. KoF should have used their relocations to block the incoming reinforcements or move closer to each other and the tower, but most didn’t take any action. By ten minutes, PRD had more players in the center and KoF was losing their edge. While PRD was getting more reinforcements and gaining more ground, KoF was getting zeroed and falling back. PRD captured the tower at the 12-minute mark with ease. KoF was nowhere near the tower and was in no position to stop the siege. The Central Tower gave PRD its fourth tower and they had already amassed a 7,000-point lead in 12 minutes.

Meanwhile, PRD’s player from the Sun Altar invaded KoF’s home tower. KoF was caught napping and failed to destroy his relocation. In response, they sent six players to stop his plan. They quelled his invasion, but KoF overcommitted to defending the tower which took away help needed at other towers. They quickly zeroed the invader and then all but two players stayed to defend the tower.

PRD relocated two more players to KoF’s home tower and again, KoF failed to destroy either relocation. More reinforcements showed up for PRD and surrounded the tower. By the time KoF sent guards to deal with them, PRD had full control of the tower. They stole the tower at the 23-minute mark. By then, PRD already had a 30,000-point lead so they didn’t need the tower to win. The only thing getting the home tower did was speed up the match. KoF was never able to retake the tower and they succumbed once again to PRD.

💠Summary

PRD’s Dementor was the match MVP as they won with 100,000 points to KoF’s 12,900. Although both alliances started with nearly equal numbers, PRD was able to overwhelmingly destroy KoF at Towers 1 and 4. KoF’s poor relocations and lack of direction cost them both towers. They didn’t know how to use their advantages. Despite the significant difference in numbers at Tower 1, KoF’s poor relocations, slow garrisons, and PRD’s better play allowed PRD to neutralize the advantage. KoF needs to learn where to relocate and block enemy relocations at Tower 4. They should have been able to control the tower easily but they wasted their positional advantage. At their home tower, KoF overcommitted to deal with one invader which lost them the center and then their slow response to a second invasion lost them their final tower. Their rotations are slow or nonexistent and they will need better shot-calling and leadership if they want to go far in playoffs.
