It was time for another round of AoH. Hotep had spent his Thursday and Friday setting up his team, so they were ready to fight on Sunday. And their lineup was quite stacked. With Renamer and Samantha for spear rallies, Anzore and HotepRa for cav rallies, and Wind5 for both, they had all they needed to make almost any match competitive. Not only that, but 2 of their longtime members, zsocee and Renamer had unlocked t5 since the last AoH match, so they now had 5/10 players with t5.

Their only weakness was their lack of infantry, but Hotep was optimistic that 3 spear leads could rally any mid-tier spear account out if necessary. As they had no inf, Hotep brought mainly cav and enough spear to join a rally.

Joining the map, Hotep quickly found some strong inf and cav accounts

Any of these accounts were stronger than anyone in his group, probably. Besides those 3 big ones he spotted early, there were a lot of other strong accounts as well, so it would be a hard map. Hotep was still optimistic, though. All of them should be kickable, so they should be able to prevent anyone from taking center, which would prevent anyone from getting easy first.

After 4 factions went for inf camps at the start, Hotep was happy to pick trade posts because while the others were fighting each other, his group could farm points by themselves.

When the altars opened, they went for the maidens of cause to get more points from trading. Hotep went for one and held it for 90 seconds before he got soloed out.

The spear account he was hit by was not even that strong in terms of lineup or weapons, but he had t5 and good stats, and Hotep lacked the counter reduction to work against that, even when he had double the troops.

Wind5 would also get in contact with Vladie, the inf account Hotep had spotted before the match, and although the account “only” had Jon and base-level weapons, he was still able to hit heavily, kicking Wind out without much trouble.

Slowly they were getting maiden altars though, when other factions did not pay attention, of course those factions would fight back after the bubble was over:

This account, for example, where Hotep needed 2 hits to kick him as strong counter reduction and t4 vs. t5 made him impossible to clear in the first hit.

After the altars had been taken care of, it was time to take a look at the city of Glory.

The first holder was a strong bowmen account, but Hotep was not worried as he was sure that account was kickable as everyone could rally him, not just one troop type.

And so it would come. A rally from another faction would hit and kick out all reinforcers, leaving only the holder itself, and so Hotep tried a solo.

It was close, but Hotep lost, although he was still proud about the report. With almost the same troop amount, he was close to beating a full t5 account with Dany and Cersei with his t4. If Hotep had t5, this would have been a win for sure.

Eventually a spear account got in, and so Hotep decided to wait and see if someone else could kick him.

And that's exactly what happened…

Anzore hit into jkilo and almost one. Only after the match would he would see he had the wrong weapon and Daenerys. The random troops of spear and inf also did not help of cause, and so jkilo won, just to get kicked out by another rally a second later.

And that's how it kept on going. jkilo would get kicked by the bowmen account, the bowmen account would get kicked by Ares, the spear account and jkilo would kick the spear account. And that like 3 times. Hotep only had to watch and check that no one was taking too long, and so their leads were freed for altar fights and the mines a few minutes later.

When the mines opened, Hotep's faction was in third place. Red was able to win the camp fights, and so was the winner, assuming no one could hold center. Pink, on the other hand, was almost tied with Hotep’s faction (although Pink was missing some big mine points), so a good mine run was necessary to get and secure the second spot.

In Between getting hit by big accounts and trying to get as many mine points as possible, their house would get occupied by their neighbors. With all troops sent to mines, it was not full, and without camps, they missed a lot of troops from that as well compared to the rest.

Luckily, first Hotep and the next round Samantha could take the House back, and Samantha ended up staying, with the stronger stats securing the House.

All of these things distracted Hotep’s group though, and strong whale solos did not help either, so they did not get the mine run they needed. Although they were able to get close, with only 500 points at one point, they could not win, and so 2 minutes before the end, with only a 1k point difference, Hotep called the match and wished GG to his team.

Hotep’s words from the start came true. They had been able to make this match competitively and shoot at center, sometimes making the deciding blows to let others take the House and reset the timer, but it was not good enough to give them a top 2 spot, although it was very close. Red and especially Pink worked very well and could deny Hotep’s time the deciding mine points. Still, Hotep was happy with the result. Everyone in his team did their best, and all of his decisions were correct; it just did not want to be.

Looking back, Hotep was very excited about the next AoH match as he would unlock t5 the next week, so all of these reports were he lost closely to t5 accounts he would be winning the next time. He only had to wait 2 weeks…
