[Review] Winners and Losers: First Impressions of Patch 2.7.5

What’s up, folks? Welcome to the Patch Preview for Patch 2.7.5. Patch 2.7.5 will be released on November 21. Let’s take a look at what the patch entails, the winners and losers of this patch as well as how the changes might influence the meta.

💠Elite Campaign and Immortal Specializations

Well of Time has a new section called Elite Campaign where players can challenge new levels without the use of SP. There are limits on successful challenge attempts. Players can get various types of Master’s Mark and Master’s Insights.

Epic and Legendary immortals will have access to skill trees that are akin to Dragon Talents. Each immortal will have three specializations based on their role that players can choose from. Players will be able to use Master’s Marks and immortal fragments to learn specialization skills and attributes. While resetting an immortal does not reset its specialization, players can use Master’s Insight to refund learned specializations. Players who collected excess fragments should be excited as this is a new way for them to get stronger faster. Those without a cupboard of fragments will need to take some time to collect them again, but luckily, there are a myriad of ways to obtain immortal fragments now.

💠Nine Tails

Nine Tails will take the stage as the next Legendary god immortal. Her skills will cleanse all allies of Bite, Serious Wound, and DoT effects. Additionally, she increases the chance of Trigger Type skills by 10% and restores HP, 230% recovery rate, to the troop with the lowest HP after any allied immortal uses an ultimate skill. The skill lasts for six seconds. Her exclusive artifact will increase that duration to nine seconds. Nine Tails seems to be specifically made to counter Poseidon and his Bite damage, but it depends on her regeneration rate. If she can activate her ultimate right after Poseidon activates his, she will render his DoT ineffective. Nine Tails should replace Theodora in double-healing compositions and allow players to assemble an optimal full Chaos team. While her healing will likely be lower than Theodora’s, she should fare better against Poseidon teams in general. If she is truly made to counter Poseidon, my hot take is that a front line of Wukong and Anubis in conjunction with Nine Tails and Fu Fei in the back line will be the meta going forward. The team becomes slightly tankier and while outputting slightly less damage than pre-patch Poseidon teams. Flavius also dodged an immortal with the ability to counter him.

💠Star of Popularity

Star of Popularity is Infinity Kingdom’s popularity contest. Players in each server can obtain popularity by participating in events where they can earn Rose Packages that grant popularity. Players can obtain Rose Packages from daily quests, gift packs, and send them to other players. Receiving packages will also increase your popularity. The most popular player at the end of the event will win the Dark Night Sovereign castle decoration that gives 3% HP, 5% Marching Speed, and 5% Honor, the perfect PvP decoration. Players can also win Nine Tails, presumably shards, customized avatar frames, and server-naming rights.

💠Miscellaneous Optimizations

For a while now, the Legion Vendor shop hasn’t refreshed which meant players who bought and sold skill shards from the shop were unable to complete those skills. Those sold skill shards can now be bought from the Buyback Shop. There is a limit of 60 buybacks so players will have to use those cautiously. This limits the ways players can get skills from the Wish Shop. Now they will have to choose between KvK skills or Triss skills.

Losers: Free-to-play and low-spenders

After matchmaking, faction selection will be increased from 24 hours to 72 hours, during which players will not be able to migrate. Fortunately, there should be 24 hours immediately after matchmaking when players can still migrate in search for more favorable matchups. This won’t really have a great effect or have much difference from our current system, in my opinion. Players who want to migrate to another server depending on matchmaking will just have to do it earlier than later.

Losers: Servers who made more enemies than allies

💠Summary

Patch 2.7.5 is a patch with significant features that we have gotten in a while. The patch features another campaign in Well of Time that unlocks immortal specialization trees, a new Legendary immortal in Nine Tails, and a new PvP-focused castle decoration that everyone will be vying for.
