More benefits, more surprises
Okay, people, this is it. Be alert and stick to the strategy.” TheHandler broke the silence as the time to the Alliance Conquest was running out. Already the tension was mounting, running higher and higher, it was the kind were you had to watch your breath. Waiting untill the long awaited fight began.
This was not just another easy victory. This was the fight, the one that every living soul in the realm had been discussing for weeks. Arm, an old ald well known alliance, consisting of only powerful and eager fighters, was about to fight against TWa, a well-established force, and their arch rivals. For months the two had been probing each other, looking for the best way to attack. But today wasn’t about skirmishes. Today, it was do or die.
At the start of the match Arm had more men right from the beginning – 67 of them against TWa’s 50. TheHandler understood that numbers were not the only thing that mattered, we need to work as a team as well. “We are more in number but we are not safe yet,” she had to remind the people. TWa is known for their strategy. Stay on your toes."
The fight started with a blast. Arm acted fast and grabbed the Warrior and the Mother before TWa even had the time to react. TheHandler looked at the battle map and saw how Arm’s flags went up over the buildings. It was a good start but they lost the outposts and made her realise again that this wouldn’t be as simple to get through.
The seconds passed as if they were hours and everyone was waiting for the bubbles around the Lannister and Targaryen outposts to disappear. A tension, similar to that before a storm, was palpable. Then, all at once, the Lannister outpost was up for grabs. Arm didn’t hesitate. Solos advanced to it like a wave that overwhelmed the defenses before TWa could even put up a fight.
"Nice work!" TheHandler shouted, screaming furiously while commanding her group. "But stay focused. Targaryen’s next." TWa attempted to assemble at the Targaryen positio, but it was the same thing. Arm’s forces advanced swiftly and efficiently, and took the second outpost as quickly as the first one. It seemed almost too simple and TheHandler couldn’t help but feel that TWa was not showing them everything.... Yet.
‘Don’t get cocky,’ she told her team. "They’re not done yet." With the outposts established, everybody looked towards the ports. It took ages to wait for the bubbles to drop. When they did, there was confusion on the field of war. Both sides advanced to the ports, and for the first time, TWa offered some resistance. They were able to seize one of the ports, but Arm was not going to surrender. Solos of rally leaders pressed on the defenses and pushed TWa back.
"Ports are ours!" TheHandler also chuckled quietly when her best friend and one of Arm’s rally leaders shouted excitingly.
The first ten minutes of the battle had gone almost to plan, but the real objective, Casterly Rock, was still in play. This was the climax that everyone was waiting for to happen.
Okay, you all prepare yourself. Casterly Rock opens in two minutes. I need us at full speed,” TheHandler said, her pulse racing while she glanced at the clock. This was not the place to make a mistake.
When the bubble around Casterly Rock finally burst, it was the mad scramble. Both sides rushed towards the stronghold but Arm got there first. People cheered.
"We got it! We got Casterly Rock!" TheHandler grinned. “Good job! Okay, let’s trade defenders—hold on a second, what? During the celebration and the exchange, TWa seized an opportunity to act. Before Arm could adequately fortify Casterly Rock, TWa moved in and took it right back.
“Are you kidding me?!” TheHandler almost barked. "We need to stay sharp! Chaos arises but we need to be come together, assemble your best. We’re taking it back."
The clock started counting again as they waited for Casterly Rock to drop it's bubble. TheHandler could sense that the pressure was building, not just in her own heart but in the whole of the alliance. Everyone had become silent, and everyone was waiting for what was to happen next. The bubble finally dropped and this time Arm was not taking any chances.
"Hit them hard!" TheHandler commanded. It is often said that ‘we cannot afford another mistake.’
The leaders of the rally released everything they had within them. Casterly Rock was a tough fight and both sides were using their best against the other. However, the strength of Arm was too great. They took back Casterly Rock, and for the first time, they did not lose it.
“Casterly Rock is ours!” TheHandler said, and relief washed over her as the reports started coming in. "Well done, team. We should continue with the same pace.”
With Casterly Rock secure, the final phase of the battle began: the race for the mines. TheHandler realized that if they were able to capture the mines, TWa was done for. The minutes ticked as they waited for the bubbles to sink and when they did, Arm advanced quickly and captured both mines with little fight.
“It’s done,” TheHandler typed, and then she exhaled, a sound of relief that she didn’t know she needed to make. "We’ve got them."
There was a burst of congratulatory messages and relief in the alliance chat. They had won. Arm had defeated TWa, their biggest competitor, and with that, had made themselves a force to be reckoned with.
“Well done boys and girls,” TheHandler said, her tone was still and steady, but there was a hint of pride in it. We struggled, and we deserved this. Now, take a break – we’ll need to be even more powerful for the next one.”
When the reports of the battle started coming through, TheHandler settled back in her chair with a small smile on her lips. They had done it. But the back of her mind, she was sure that TWa would come back more stronger than before. This was only the beginning.
