Hey everyone, it's Press Officer Mael back again! Today, I'm thrilled to unveil my latest acquisition in Infinity Kingdom: the enigmatic Shadow Dragon, Melanthios. Born from ancient myths and steeped in the darkness of legends, Melanthios is the embodiment of shadow mastery.
Melanthios stands as the antithesis to Lucasta, the holy dragon, embracing the night and eclipsing hope. Its origins are shrouded in mystery, with an egg left behind by a mythical beast hinting at its ancient lineage. This dragon, reserved for the mightiest of lords, is a symbol of power and a coveted ally.
As Melanthios evolves, so does its strength and prowess. Its unique abilities make it indispensable for shadow-focused strategies, but its impact extends far beyond, influencing any battlefield. Whether you seek domination or seek to bolster your ranks, Melanthios is the ultimate addition to your arsenal.
How to Obtain Melanthios Dragon Egg?
Once you hit 1,000,000 VIP points and therefore reach VIP 15, you can directly purchase the ultimate VIP reward—the Exalted Chest—for $99 USD.
Inside this coveted chest, you'll find the Shadow Dragon Egg. Hatch it in your Dragon Cave to welcome a baby Melanthios, marking the start of your journey in mastering shadow power.
Additionally, this chest includes the Dark Fortress Castle Skin, providing a significant gold buff, the best growth boost in the game.

Building Melanthios presents a daunting task, as it demands substantial investment in both gold for leveling up and an abundance of Shadow Dragon Crystals for domesticating. Compared to other dragons (excluding Holy Lucasta), the cost of training Melanthios surpasses them all.
To fully maximize its potential, all three skills must be maxed out, requiring a staggering 57,975 Dragon Souls in total. Acquiring these Dragon Souls is no simple feat, as Dragon Crystals are only accessible through Daily Shops and paid events. Building Melanthios requires pure dedication, as it demands significant resources and strategic planning every step of the way.

Now, let's dive into the skills that make Melanthios a game-changer in battle.
Melanthios Skills
Like other dragons in the game, upgrading Melanthios unlocks its skills, starting at level 5. Each skill has unique effects, and they can be leveled up through "domestication" using Dragon Crystals to become even more powerful.

Here are Melanthios's three game-changing skills:
- Dark Breath: Unleashes 2,000,000 true damage on a random enemy unit and inflicts Mental Decay. Targets with Mental Decay take an extra 10% of any damage dealt to any unit on the battlefield.
- Eclipse (unlocked at level 15): Has a 90% chance to silence three random enemy units, blocking them from gaining energy or casting skills for 8 seconds.
- Force of Evil (unlocked at level 25): Boosts Crit and Dodge values by 30% for your immortals. When Shadow Immortals have more than 60% HP, their damage dealt gets a powerful 15% increase.

Let's delve into Melanthios's talents. These become available once all three skills reach level 10, and you must be in at least Season 3 to activate them through Dragon Essences. Note: Melanthios's talents underwent adjustments in the recent patch 2.6.9 to ensure balance across gameplay. Here's a breakdown of each talent:
Silhouette:
- Dark Breath: Deals 2,000,000 true damage to 1 random enemy, with an additional 10% per level, and inflicts Mental Decay. Targets with Mental Decay will receive 10% of any damage inflicted on units in the battlefield.
- Eclipse: Has a base 90% chance, increasing by 1% per level, to silence 3 random enemies for 8 seconds, preventing them from gaining energy or using Ultimate skills.
Opinion: This talent set enhances the base skills of the dragon, making them more potent. While not overly specialized, it remains remarkably powerful.
Abyss:
- Dark Breath: Deals 2,000,000 true damage to 1 random enemy and inflicts Mental Decay. Now increases damage taken by targets with Mental Decay from 30% + 2% per level when their HP is below 30% to 50% + 5% per level when their HP is below 50%.
- Eclipse: Has a 75% chance to silence 3 random enemies for 8 seconds. Silenced units will take 13% plus 2% per level more damage from Ultimate Skills.
Opinion: This is an agressive talent set that suits a particular setup, aiming to decide battles within moments. It's a high-risk, high-reward approach.
Corrupt:
- Dark Breath: Deals 2,000,000 true damage to 1 random enemy and inflicts Mental Decay. Targets with Mental Decay will receive 10% plus 1% per level of any damage.
- Eclipse: Silences enemy front-row targets for 9s + 0.6s per level. When the target is immune to control, increase damage taken by 30%.
Opinion: This set relies somewhat on chance and is all about Control especially with Himiko in the lineup. It's potent against formations reliant on their front line but can falter otherwise, making it a bit of a gamble. Note that the addition from patch 2.6.9 with Eclipse now increasing damage taken by 30% if a target is immune to control has enhanced this talent in my opinion.
Shadow Mastery: The Rise of Melanthios
Melanthios, the Shadow Dragon, is a real game-changer in Infinity Kingdom. Its talents offer different ways to win battles, from making skills stronger to taking out enemies fast or messing up their plans. But getting Melanthios isn't easy; you need Shadow Dragon Crystals, which are hard to find. Still, it's worth it because Melanthios is the best dragon in the game alongside with Holy Lucasta.
At level 55, Melanthios offer the best stats in the game to boost your team with:
- +174.1 Physical Attack
- +142.5 Physical Defense
- +174.1 Magical Attack
- +142.5 Magical Defense
In Infinity Kingdom, Melanthios is the top dog, showing everyone the power of shadows and dedication.
