Word of the Night King and his army of the dead returning, had spread through the Kingdom like wildfire. The frost beginning to surround our windows was the first hint that these were no mere rumors but an ominous warning. The Kingdom has been busy, furiously preparing troops. We have all fought the Night King before and were aware how bloody this would become. Farmers were busy storing their harvests in anticipation of the fighters needing to heal and train new troops. We struggled against this foe last time, and now we were smaller since the departure of the frenemies. Some inhabitants of our land decried the impossibility of the task ahead. Others, like me, couldn’t wait to tank some of the Night Kings generals.

They say the mark of an incredible warrior is the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. To be able to see the path through the impossible and lead the unbelievers to victory. In our Kingdom we have our King Vangark, Queen Chayle, Wich and Shin that fit that mold. Each powerful warriors in their own right, but when working together a force of nature able to bend the future to their will. I have witnessed this group beat the odds, turning assured defeat into victories through a mix of strength and cunning time and time again.

I was still a little light on troops having been jumped by the Puppetmasters flunkies, and CCS but had commanded my maesters to perform the magic needed to expand my troop training abilities and speed. This was an ancient art requiring not one but two powerful scrolls. We needed an endless supply of T1s to protect our stronger troops. For 70% of our dead would join the Night Kings Army.

In a Kingdom like ours, many would have given into defeat. We are a small Kingdom, one small alliance and a lot of farmers. King Vangark had noticed the rewards for defeating the Night King for the server included the rare and highly coveted Sapphire essence. Knowing how much that could help the inhabitants of his Kingdom, he vowed silently to fight with all he had. Queen Chayle and him were locked away in the castle finishing their own preparations, going over strategies and giving the last minute orders to their staff.

UnC, our servers only alliance, was also buzzing with excitement. Some, like me, wanting to tank generals. Others really wanted to test their gangster after the formidable Night King. There were a few individuals that ran away and hid behind the bubble. Many more chose to fight along side of us, sacrificing their time, troops and resources to protect our home from this ancient foe.

Several hours after returning from CCS, I got the Kings Summons.

“Ch1r1sh, I need you to leave your alliance and join UnC. We shall meet up in Winterfell and begin our attack.” The Night King was still under his protective bubble, but his generals had begun their march south, leaving barren lands in their wake. I gathered my army, and we began the trek to Winterfell, and joined UnC as the King had requested.

I began to hop over to the generals, doing a little dance to get their attention.

Once I had gotten rallied by 5, I would move back to Winterfell and wait for the attacks. Attacking the Generals directly didn’t generate a lot of damage as their combat rate was double my own. Tanking the Generals, however, allowed me to do a lot more damage than I would otherwise do. I called out to the UnC members to reinforce if they needed points. Some people don’t have a lot of troops, so it is more effective to fight defensively. Less loss and bigger damage. King Vangark would rally the generals, and we would fill them. It felt like an impossible task, the enemy was so strong, but we stuck to the plan. We managed to kill a couple of the Generals, but there was still so many more to go.

Eventually the Night King unbubbled and our focus shifted to him. Vangark again would rally, but we also peppered the Night King with solo attacks. NK would cycle through defensive formations, so sometimes the solo attacks gave a more favorable attack to the rally. We fought like this for what felt like an eternity but was really days 😂lol. Progress was being made, but it was slow and came at a cost. Watching my resources dwindle away as I furiously tried to train troops to replace my dead T1s, I was determined to make the Night King pay. If we can hit the 25% marker by the end of the event, I would be proud. We are a very small Kingdom with an abnormally strong Night King. It seemed like a reasonable goal.

The Kings determination became infectious, members in UnC that normally didn’t participate in events showed up for this one. We were in the zone, the machinations becoming almost second nature. Fill the King or Queens rally, then solo. In between twerk for some generals to try and stem the flow of reinforcements to the Night King. Tirelessly, we continued for days, celebrating each milestone we hit. People cycled in and out as real-life schedules would allow.

As we passed the 50% damage marker, the King called for Wich, Shin and a few more trusted accounts to join LxB where they would rally and solo. This would double the rallies on the Night King and hopefully speed up his defeat. We were all exhausted from this war, but we had hope.

The Night Kings health was falling lower and lower after 3 days of constant battle. So we increased the solo attacks while continuing to rally. Each blow getting us closer to the end. King Vangark, growing impatient, jumped next to the Night King to launch some quick solo attacks to try and deplete more of his troops. It was a sight to behold yall. Our King and the King of the dead were nose to nose. The NK’s generals were desperately rallying Vang in an effort to slow his assaults, to no avail. The two foes were near equal in power. Each clash of these titans caused the ground to tremble. I went to launch a solo attack, but found the space was empty. King Vangark stood alone, and the Night King had been defeated. I didn’t even get to see the killing blow lol.

While we didn’t make the kill in three days, we got so close. Considering last event Arya killed the NK, and we had lost several strong players since, I was extremely proud of our little server. Teamwork and strong leadership were the keys to our success. The inhabitants on our server were excited to not only see the NK defeated but the promise of the essence that would lead them to the rare but deadly Sapphire dragon. So don’t give up hope yall, work together and kill that fool lol.
