💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server M016’s Ice Cold Enforcers(ICE) and Server 485’s ThroneOfSeals(TOS).

💠Overview
ICE entered the playoffs with a 6–2 record, with both losses coming against strong contenders in ARC and Ascendants of Asgard. They narrowly lost to AWG in the opening round before dropping into the Silver Bracket, where they defeated Server 462’s DH to advance. TOS finished the Points Phase at 5–3 and defeated DH before also falling to AWG in the playoffs. ICE has generally fielded more players, and their performances in both wins and losses have been more impressive, giving them the advantage heading into this matchup.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
ICE
- Started with 18 players and ended with 27
- 12 Attack talents
- 4 Defense talents
- 2 Support talents
TOS
- Started with 17 players and ended with 21
- 14 Attack talents
- 2 Defense talents
- 1 Support talent
Both teams heavily favored Attack talents, although ICE used a slightly more balanced setup with additional Defense and Support talents. Attendance was nearly even at the start, but ICE eventually grew to a six-player advantage, which gave them considerably more flexibility to reinforce objectives as the match progressed.
💠Tower 1
ICE sent six players to Tower 1 with one overlapping relocation, while TOS committed five, including one player attempting to relocate onto ICE’s side of the tower. If ICE timed its relocations properly, that aggressive TOS relocation should be blocked. Rather than canceling one of the overlapping relocations, both ICE players should let them complete and see which one gets displaced, as being blocked allows the affected player to reposition faster than manually canceling and waiting through the cooldown. ICE controls more of the area surrounding the tower, although its formation is more spread out, while TOS is more compact but controls only the bottom side of the objective.

💠Tower 4
ICE sent five players to Tower 4, with four tightly grouped on the right side of the objective and the fifth positioned much farther behind them. TOS committed eight players but used a relatively messy formation. ICE had favorable spawn locations that could have been used more aggressively to block several of TOS’s relocations and reduce the numbers disparity before the battle even began. Without those blocks, however, TOS should have the advantage at Tower 4 due to its significant numbers advantage.

💠Central Tower
ICE sent nine players to the Central Tower with one overlapping relocation, while TOS committed only four. ICE concentrated its entire force on the right side of the objective, while TOS positioned its smaller group along the bottom side. With more than twice as many players in the area, ICE should have an overwhelming advantage and little difficulty establishing control of the Central Tower.

💠Altars
Neither team sent anyone to either altar, showing that both sides prioritized early tower control rather than spreading players across lower-value objectives.
💠Home Towers
Neither team stationed anyone to guard their home towers. This was risky because both towers would become vulnerable later in the match, creating an opportunity for either side to steal an objective with only a small commitment of players.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, one ICE player blocked a teammate’s relocation, while TOS also successfully blocked one of ICE’s incoming relocations. Both teams spent the opening minutes trading solo attacks without breaking through until TOS began launching rallies, with each side also sending additional reinforcements to the area. ICE eventually drew first blood and remained the only team consistently trying to siege the tower, while capturing the objective seemed secondary for TOS. TOS interrupted ICE’s siege attempts several times, but a brief lapse in attention gave ICE the opening they needed to capture Tower 1 at the 10-minute mark. Despite losing the objective, TOS refused to relent and continued fighting for control of the area.

At Tower 4, ICE immediately began sieging the objective while TOS focused almost entirely on attacking enemy players. TOS failed to make a meaningful effort to interrupt the siege, allowing ICE to capture the tower just five minutes into the match. However, TOS quickly zeroed one ICE player afterward, leaving ICE outnumbered roughly two to one and putting their newly captured objective under significant pressure.

In the center, ICE was far more disciplined with its rallies and garrisons, overwhelming TOS from the start. ICE flew all four TOS players before the Central Tower even opened and successfully blocked every incoming relocation, preventing TOS from establishing any presence around the objective. TOS barely managed to deal any meaningful damage in return, allowing ICE to maintain complete control and capture the crucial Central Tower at the 12-minute mark.

Twelve minutes into the match, ICE noticed that TOS still had nobody guarding their home tower and immediately sent marches all the way from the Central Tower. It took several minutes for the marches to arrive and several more to siege the objective, but with no meaningful response from TOS, ICE finally captured the tower at the 20-minute mark. The steal gave ICE control of all five towers and opened up a massive 22,500-point lead early in the match.

Across the map, TOS continued pressuring every objective and eventually began clawing back some control. They finally responded to the invasion of their home tower and recaptured it several minutes later, then pushed ICE back at Tower 1 and overwhelmed the remaining defenders to steal the objective at the 29-minute mark. Interestingly, ICE also left its home tower completely undefended, but TOS did not notice the opening until 27 minutes into the match, when two players teleported over and captured it just two minutes later. By then, however, the damage had already been done, as ICE had built an insurmountable 55,000-point lead. ICE simply held its remaining two towers for the rest of the match and cruised to victory.

💠Summary
ICE defeated TOS 100,000 to 47,400, with JASH earning MVP. TOS’s poor early-game objective prioritization ultimately cost them the match, as they failed to convert their numerical advantages into tower control and allowed ICE to capture both Towers 1 and 4 despite having significant numbers nearby. Tower 1 was particularly costly, as TOS eventually outnumbered ICE in the area but still allowed them to capture and hold the objective for most of the match. TOS recovered well in the second half and eventually captured three towers, but ICE had already built an insurmountable lead by then. Both teams also did a poor job protecting their home towers, which should have been guarded once they became vulnerable around the seven-minute mark. TOS is eliminated from the tournament, while ICE advances to face HK.
