💠Illusion Battlefield League

The playoffs exploded into action last week, and after two hard-fought rounds, several servers have already seen their championship dreams come to an end. The opening rounds delivered plenty of drama, including a few major surprises as underdogs rose to the occasion, knocked off favored opponents, and punched their tickets to the next round. Now the field is getting smaller, the pressure is getting bigger, and every matchup carries even more weight as the remaining teams battle to keep their title hopes alive.

  1. In Group 1, BUNS got past OF and the top team in SJ and has a date with NG+ for a chance to advance from the Gold Group after NG+ defeated EP and W2F. OF and DL were knocked out of the tournament after losing to LS and EP, respectively, in the Silver Group.
  2. In Group 2, AoW and KoV advanced to the Gold Group finals, as expected. FAFO and Inka were knocked out in the Silver Group.
  3. In Group 3, RiP and CD will meet in the Gold Group finals. RR and Mbl have already been knocked out of the tournament.
  4. In Group 4, AWG defeated their opponents in ICE and TOS. ARC defeated HMB and HK and set up a date with AWG in the Gold Group finals. DH and WAFL were knocked out by ICE and HMB.
  5. In Group 5, TNG surprisingly defeated HVN and will play O66 for a seat in the top 16. DTF and LAST were eliminated.
  6. In Group 6, ToW and HOT made it to the Gold Group finals as expected. MID and DE were eliminated.
  7. In Group 7, Ascendants of Asgard and SPS, both from Server 38, advanced to the Gold Group finals. They will likely beat every team from the Silver Group to advance both teams.
  8. In Group 8, BAD won in an upset against DH to get to the promotion finals along with CN. LD and OWL were eliminated in the Silver Group.

💠Legion of Frostborne

Legion of Frostborne completed its matchmaking this week, revealing four brand-new and exciting brackets filled with fresh alliance and server pairings, along with a few familiar matchups from the past. With new rivalries set to begin and old ones ready to be renewed, each bracket brings its own storylines and plenty of potential for surprises. The stage is now set for another competitive season as alliances prepare to battle for control of Frostborne.

  • In Region 51, Server 38’s AoW will lead Zephyr with Server 277’s WIB also in the faction. Server M014’s RiP will lead Ember in a rematch against Server 38. Server 209’s O66 is also in Ember. Server 56’s HMB will call the shots in Terra and Legendary Season’s newest Server 336’s CD will lead Hydro with Server 137’s GON. AoW will likely face the entire map.
  • In Region 52, the bracket is significantly weaker and more tame. The strongest servers are M006’s IW, M006’s DOD, and 125’s ES. It remains to be seen whether any of these alliances and factions can even take any cities.
  • In Region 53, Server 136’s AWG will lead Terra with backup from Server 16’s NG+ and Server 115’s DH. Server 209’s HK will try to redeem themselves after last season’s poor performance and is the strongest alliance in Ember. Ember also faces a threat from 136’s secondary alliance SKY. Server 73’s ARC will lead Zephyr. Finally, Server 231’s CN commands Hydro. It will likely turn into a 2v2 with AWG and ARC on one side versus HK and CN on the other.
  • In Region 54, the strongest alliance has less than 100 million power. None of these alliances and factions will be able to claim any city.

💠Patch 2.9.9 Notes

Patch 2.9.8 introduces Horus, a new legendary Chaos Magic Bowmen Immortal whose Royal Sarcophagus skill makes him unusually durable by capping each individual instance of incoming damage at 5% of his Max HP, giving him a strong matchup against burst-heavy Immortals such as Apollo. His Ultimate also deals 400% Magical Damage to all enemies and can apply Punishment, increasing their damage taken by 15%, while his Exclusive Artifact raises the debuff’s application chance to 100%. Horus also pairs especially well with the new Psychic Vortex skill, which increases Magical Damage whenever he loses 10% HP or casts his Ultimate, stacking up to five times for a potential 105% increase and creating strong synergy with Ultimate-focused builds using skills such as Infinite Firepower and Energy Mastery. Thorn Armor is also receiving a meaningful buff, increasing its Counterattack-based reflected damage from 20% to 30% at max level, which should improve Great Tengu and other defensive Counterattack setups while making life harder for Physical carries such as Ares, Medusa, and Alexander. Beyond combat balance, the patch adds several useful quality-of-life improvements, including batch claiming for Affinity rewards, talent downgrades and single-tree resets, and improved Stellar Compass rewards featuring broader Artifact Schematics and Season Exclusive Artifact Schematic Fragment Selection Chests.

💠Summary

IBL playoffs delivered several upsets, with BUNS, TNG, and BAD among the surprise teams advancing. Frostborne matchmaking is set, with Regions 51 and 53 featuring the strongest matchups. Patch 2.9.8 adds Horus, Psychic Vortex, a Thorn Armor buff, and quality-of-life improvements.
