Patch 2.9.9 Notes
Introduction
Hello friends! Infinity Kingdom 2.9.9 brings a new Chaos Immortal, a new Tower of Knowledge skill, earlier access to several skills, a Thorn Armor adjustment, and some useful quality-of-life changes.
There is quite a lot in this patch, but not every change will affect your account in the same way.
In this guide, we'll go over the updates that are most important for players and what they could mean going forward.

💠 Summary
Horus
💠Horus is a new back-row Chaos Immortal who deals Magical Damage.
He will be available through the Pirate Festival event.
His skill, Royal Sarcophagus, has both a passive and active effect.
The passive limits how much damage Horus can receive from one individual instance of damage based on his Max HP.
This is interesting because it could help him survive large burst attacks better than some other back-row damage dealers.
However, there are still some questions that need testing. For example, if a skill hits several times, will each hit be capped separately? We also do not yet know exactly how this effect interacts with other forms of damage reduction.
His active skill deals Magical Damage to all enemies and can apply Punishment for six seconds.
Punishment increases the damage received by affected enemies, which means Horus may also help the rest of your team deal more damage.
His exclusive artifact increases the Punishment application chance from 60% to 100%, making the effect much more reliable.
Could Horus become a strong Magic carry? Possibly, but it is better to wait for real battle reports before deciding where he belongs.
Psychic Vortex
💠 Psychic Vortex is the new Tower of Knowledge skill added in this patch.
The skill gains stacks when your HP decreases by 10% or when you cast an Ultimate Skill.
Each stack increases Magical Damage, and the effect can stack up to five times.
This makes Psychic Vortex very interesting for Magic Immortals that can either survive for a long time or cast their Ultimate frequently.
The biggest question is how quickly those five stacks can actually be reached.
If an Immortal loses 30% HP at once, does that count as one stack or three? Can healing allow you to trigger the HP effect again later?
These details are still unclear, so this is definitely a skill that needs testing before we know how strong it really is.
Wish Shop Changes
💠 Several Tower of Knowledge skills will now become available earlier.
Energy Mastery is moving to S2.
Arcane Hunter, Divine Blessing and Eternal Battlelust are moving to Conquest Season.
This is very useful for newer players because it gives access to more build options earlier in account progression.
Energy Mastery moving to S2 is probably the biggest change here.
Players who were previously planning around unlocking these skills much later should check the Wish Shop again after the update.
Your progression plan may have just changed!
Thorn Armor
💠 Thorn Armor is also getting a buff.
Its Physical Damage reduction is staying the same, but the reflected damage while Counterattack is active is being increased.
This mainly affects players using Tengu.
Tengu can give Counterattack to front-row Immortals, which allows Thorn Armor's reflect effect to activate.
Without Counterattack, you will still receive the normal Physical Damage reduction, but you will not benefit from the stronger reflection.
My advice?
If you already use Tengu, Thorn Armor is definitely worth another look.
If you are not using Counterattack, this update does not change much for you.
Other Changes
💠 There are also several smaller improvements in 2.9.9.
Immortal Demonstration will now show example battles, recommended lineups and skill setups.
Affinity rewards can be claimed more easily.
Elemental Domain gets a formation quick-copy feature.
Lord Talents can be downgraded and individual trees can be reset.
Early artifact progression is also getting some help through Stellar Compass rewards and Artifact Empowerment materials in the S0 and S1 Ancient Gold Exchange.
There is also a new five-day Alliance Charter quest for newer players.
None of these changes should completely change the meta, but they should make the game easier to manage.
Summary
💠 Update 2.9.9 has a few changes that are worth watching closely.
Horus introduces a new type of survivability for a Magic Immortal while also bringing Punishment to increase enemy damage taken.
Psychic Vortex could become a strong option for Magic damage dealers, but we still need to see how quickly its stacks can be built.
The earlier Wish Shop releases are especially important for newer accounts, while Thorn Armor should become more interesting for players already using Tengu and Counterattack.
There are still plenty of mechanics that need proper testing, so it is too early to say exactly how much the meta will change.
For now, Horus and Psychic Vortex are definitely the two things I would be watching first.
Thanks for reading friends and stay smiling!
