💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 73’s Snugglebunnies(BUNS) and Server 452’s OnlyFades(OF).

💠Overview
BUNS entered the Group Elimination phase with a perfect 3–0 record, dominating every match they played, although none of their opponents presented a particularly difficult challenge. Their biggest weakness has been attendance, as they have been shorthanded throughout the season and typically field only around ten players per match. OF entered the second phase at 6–2, with losses to DH and ICE but respectable performances in both matches, and they have generally fielded more players than BUNS. While OF should have the numbers advantage, BUNS has considerably more IBL experience, which could help offset the difference in attendance.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
BUNS
- Started with 20 players and ended with 21
- 10 Attack talents
- 6 Defense talents
- 4 Support talents
OF
- Started with 10 players and ended with 14
- 6 Attack talents
- 4 Defense talents
- 0 Support talent
💠Tower 1
BUNS sent three players to Tower 1, while OF committed only two. All three BUNS players positioned directly beside the tower, while OF’s players were a couple of units farther away, giving BUNS an additional early advantage. Despite being heavily shorthanded overall, BUNS can afford to contest all three opening objectives with smaller groups because losing one tower would not necessarily put them out of the match. OF, with the larger roster, should have concentrated its forces between Tower 1 and either the Central Tower or Tower 4 to create a decisive numbers advantage at two objectives rather than spreading its players too thin.

💠Tower 4
BUNS sent five players to Tower 4, while OF committed three and attempted to block two of BUNS’ relocations. That strategy would normally work if OF had favorable edge spawns, but every OF player spawned toward the top side, allowing BUNS to reach the contested relocation spots first and potentially block OF instead. Generally, the top-sided team should prioritize Tower 4 because of its natural proximity advantage, but the unfavorable spawn locations changed the situation entirely. In this case, OF would have been better off conceding Tower 4 and concentrating its numbers elsewhere.

💠Central Tower
BUNS sent six players to the Central Tower, all positioned directly beside the objective, while OF committed four, with two starting slightly farther away. BUNS once again held the initial numbers and positioning advantage, putting them in a strong position to control the tower early. However, if OF can survive the opening engagement long enough for reinforcements to arrive, they still have a chance to overcome the initial disadvantage and contest the objective.

💠Altars
Neither team sent anyone to either altar.
💠Home Towers
BUNS stationed one player at their home tower and sent four players to the outskirts of OF’s home tower. OF stationed only one player at theirs.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, BUNS immediately focused one of OF’s players and zeroed them with little resistance. OF attempted to rally in response but failed to deal any meaningful damage, allowing BUNS to capture the tower just four minutes into the match without any real attempt to stop them. The lone remaining OF player could not survive on his own for long and was quickly flown as well. One of his teammates attempted to relocate back to the objective afterward, but with Tower 1 already firmly under BUNS’ control, that player would have been better off reinforcing a more contested objective elsewhere on the map.

At Tower 4, BUNS immediately established control by blocking two of OF’s relocations and destroying another before it could complete. With OF unable to establish a meaningful presence around the objective, BUNS captured the tower just four minutes into the match. After securing it, BUNS intentionally allowed two OF players to relocate nearby so they could earn the 300,000 individual points needed for additional rewards.

At the Central Tower, BUNS had enough players to attack all four OF defenders simultaneously, dealing significant damage and immediately zeroing one of them. OF’s builds simply were not strong enough to compete, as they were losing every individual engagement while two latecomers attempted to relocate into the center. BUNS quickly zeroed two more players, surrounded the tower, blocked several incoming relocations, and eliminated the remaining defenders. BUNS captured their third objective at the 11-minute mark, giving them control of all three opening towers and a significant early lead.

Four BUNS players began landing at OF’s home tower around the 3.5-minute mark, arriving just in time to prevent OF from collecting points from the objective. BUNS simultaneously sent marches to siege the tower and attacked the lone defender, who, despite being positioned nearby, could not stop them from stealing the objective right under OF’s nose. BUNS captured their fourth tower just six minutes into the match, preventing OF from generating any points from their home objective. OF attempted to fight back and reclaim the tower afterward, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

💠Summary
BUNS demolished OF 100,000 to 0 in one of the most one-sided matches of the season between two playoff teams, with Kai earning MVP. The biggest surprise was the attendance disparity, as OF was expected to field the larger roster while BUNS had been shorthanded throughout the season, but the exact opposite happened. BUNS dominated every facet of the match, while OF also suffered from unfavorable spawns and compounded the problem by contesting Tower 4 despite lacking the positioning to do so, effectively giving away an objective for free. BUNS advances to face SJ in the next round, while OF drops into the Silver Bracket to face LS.
