💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 462’s Dream Heaven(DH) and Server 487’s Lucky Star(LS).

💠Overview

DH entered the final match of the Points phase with a 5–2 record, with their two losses coming against HMB and HOT. They have established themselves as a consistent mid-tier team and regularly field more than 30 players each week. LS also came into the final match at 5–2 after losses to CN and XGV earlier in the phase. The two alliances are very similar in both overall strength and weekly attendance, making this one of the more evenly matched contests on paper.

💠Tower 1

At Tower 1, DH sent 5 players while LS committed only a single player. LS’s overall allocation suggested they intended to concede the objective, so sending one player there only wasted manpower that could have reinforced another tower. With a massive numbers advantage and virtually no meaningful resistance, DH should be able to secure Tower 1 quickly and rotate players elsewhere.

💠Tower 4

At Tower 4, DH sent 6 players while LS committed only 3. LS had several useful edge spawns that could have been leveraged to block a couple of DH’s relocations and reduce the numbers gap, but instead they chose a standard formation on their own side of the tower. Given that LS had effectively conceded Tower 1 by sending only one player there, they should have committed more of that saved manpower to Tower 4. As it stands, DH holds a clear numbers advantage and should be favored to control the objective.

💠Central Tower

In the center, DH committed 7 players while LS sent 5. DH’s formation was noticeably stronger, with all of their players positioned close to the tower, while LS was spread farther out and split into smaller groups. That spacing will slow LS’s rallies and garrisons and make it harder for them to support one another under pressure. With the opening numbers already favoring DH, the next major factor will be reinforcements. Whichever team can secure its outer objectives first and rotate players into the center should gain a decisive advantage.

💠Altars

DH didn’t send anyone to either altar. LS sent one player to the Sun Altar and four players to the Moon Altar.

💠Home Towers

DH didn’t station anyone at their home tower. LS sent one player to defend their home tower and three to DH’s home tower. As soon as DH saw the relocations to their home tower, they should have relocated a couple of players to block and destroy them.

💠Play-by-Play

At Tower 1, DH opened with rallies against the lone LS defender, but inexplicably failed to commit any marches to actually siege the objective. That hesitation gave LS time to begin attacking the tower themselves while four more members relocated into the area, and DH made no meaningful attempt to destroy those incoming relocations. Despite being heavily outnumbered, LS managed to capture Tower 1 at the 7-minute mark with only three players actively controlling the objective in front of eight DH members. DH eventually zeroed one defender, but LS was dealing far more effective damage in return. The smaller LS force steadily pushed DH farther away from the tower and established firm control of the surrounding area.

At Tower 4, DH canceled one relocation while the rest of the team began sieging the objective. With a clear numbers advantage, DH should have committed more fully to the tower while still using spare marches to pressure nearby LS players. They managed to zero one defender and block several incoming relocations, but their rallies and overall attack tempo were slow. DH finally captured Tower 4 at the 10-minute mark, though LS kept sending reinforcements to replace the players being flown, preventing DH from fully stabilizing the area.

In the middle, DH initially pushed forward along the top side, but LS gained momentum on the bottom by zeroing one defender and steadily applying pressure from that angle. DH repeatedly failed to punish incoming relocations, allowing LS players to move closer to both their teammates and the tower. Two LS members even relocated directly into the middle of DH's formation, and once again DH failed to destroy the relocations before they completed. While those players disrupted DH from within, the rest of LS advanced and captured the Central Tower at the 13-minute mark, giving them a major early advantage. LS then kept the pressure on, zeroing DH players one after another and denying them any chance to reestablish control. By the 20-minute mark, most of DH had been cleared from the area.

At the same time, three LS players slipped into DH’s home tower and captured it just 5 minutes into the match without any response from DH. That unexpected steal immediately gave LS control of three towers and a massive early advantage. DH did not send a single player to contest their home tower until the 20-minute mark, even after LS had reduced its defense there to just one guard. DH remained overly focused on holding Tower 4 and committed only a small force to reclaim Tower 3. Each time DH eliminated an LS defender, another quickly rotated in to replace them. DH finally recaptured their home tower at the 25-minute mark, but the effort came at the cost of losing Tower 4. They eventually lost Tower 3 again as well, and from there LS completely overwhelmed them.

💠Summary

LS crushed DH 100,000 to 16,500, with Ruthless King earning MVP. DH looked extremely disorganized throughout the match, wasting a massive numbers advantage at Tower 1 by standing idle while LS relocated in and captured the objective. The same problem appeared at their home tower, where LS stole it early and DH did not meaningfully respond until roughly a third of the match had already passed, by which point they were buried in a huge deficit. LS consistently recognized openings and capitalized on them, although their own opening allocation could have been better because too many players went to the altars instead of the outer towers. LS improved to 6–2 while DH fell to 5–3, but both teams still qualified for the playoffs.
