💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome to my beginner series where I’ll be taking a closer look at specific events that may be difficult for early-stage players. In this article, I’m going to take a look at the new Battle of Asteria event, what it entails, and its rewards.

💠Table of Contents

  • Overview
  • Individual Challenges
  • Alliance Challenge
  • Rewards
  • Summary

💠Overview

Patch 2.9.5 brought back Battle of Asteria, a monthly event that had been removed from the game for over a year. The event now runs on a bi-weekly basis and has been reworked to support the new Affinity and Insignia systems introduced in the same patch. Players can earn a new currency, Otherworld Crystals, by progressing through Battle of Asteria and spend them in the Otherworld Shop on Affinity gifts and other progression items, making the event one of the primary sources for advancing the new systems.

💠Individual Challenges

Battle of Asteria features six personal challenge difficulties, with each difficulty containing 30 levels. Players begin with the first two difficulties unlocked and must clear an entire difficulty before unlocking the next one. Once a difficulty is selected, it cannot be changed freely and can only be adjusted after failing a level for the first time, making difficulty selection important. Completed difficulties are saved between event runs, allowing players to continue progressing where they left off, though all progress resets when a new server season begins. Since the event consumes a significant amount of AP, players should strongly consider leveling the AP-saving talents in the Lord Talent tree beforehand to maximize the number of stages they can clear and the amount of rewards they can earn.

💠Alliance Challenge

The Alliance Challenge is the cooperative portion of Battle of Asteria and is unlocked through alliance-wide progress in the Individual Challenge. There are six difficulty levels, each requiring a certain number of alliance members to clear the corresponding personal difficulty before becoming available, after which the alliance leader or an officer can start the Deceit Vanquisher challenge. Each difficulty contains six increasingly difficult boss stages, and once the final stage is defeated, that round of the Alliance Challenge ends. Players can only defeat each stage boss once across all difficulties, meaning someone who defeats a Stage 1 boss on a lower difficulty cannot fight the Stage 1 boss on a higher difficulty later. Since the bosses are generally quite weak, alliances are encouraged to coordinate and have members send a single march with one troop so everyone can land a hit before the boss dies. Any player who attacks the boss receives rewards once it is defeated, making participation more important than damage dealt. Because participation opportunities are limited, alliances should carefully coordinate attacks and aim to unlock the highest difficulty possible before beginning the challenge to maximize rewards.

💠Rewards

Battle of Asteria offers rewards through both the Individual Challenge and Alliance Challenge. In the Individual Challenge, players receive drops from every stage they clear, progress rewards every five levels, first-time completion rewards for new difficulties, and end-of-event rewards based on the highest difficulty and progression reached. In the Alliance Challenge, players who participate in defeating Deceit Vanquisher bosses receive rewards by mail when the bosses are defeated, while additional end-of-event rewards are distributed based on the highest alliance difficulty cleared. Most importantly, Battle of Asteria is now one of the primary sources of Otherworld Crystals, with active players capable of earning tens of thousands of Otherworld Crystals per event to spend in the Otherworld Shop on Affinity gifts and other progression items. Players should aim to get each immortal Affinity to level 15 before moving to another.

💠Summary

Battle of Asteria combines solo progression and alliance boss battles across six difficulty levels. Rewards include stage drops, progression rewards, alliance rewards, and tens of thousands of Otherworld Crystals. It is now one of the primary ways to earn Affinity gifts and advance the new Insignia system.
