Man, did you ever wish those crit marches did not hit that hard? Even when you try using skills like Malice Aura to lower their crit rate, they still somehow manage to pull it off and hurt your immortals badly.

Well, say no more, because soon players in Legendary Frost will be able to get their hands on the skill Grace.

What is Grace, you might ask? Glad you asked, my dear lord.

⚜️ So… what even is Grace?

Grace is an Aura skill, which means once the battle starts, the effect stays active for as long as the immortal carrying it stays alive. Unlike triggered skills, it does not need a condition to activate, and unlike timed Grace/Blessing buffs, it does not run on a short timer. What it does is simple: at max level, Grace reduces the Critical Damage received by all allies by 50% during battle.

So if you have ever been in one of those fights where the enemy crit march still chunks your team even after trying to lower their crit rate with something like Malice, then Grace is looking at the problem from the other side. Malice lowers how often crits happen. Grace lowers how hard those crits hurt when they do happen.

Since the skill is not fully out yet, all we can really do for now is look at what it says on paper, compare it to the current meta, and think about what it might change once players can finally test it properly after Frost.

⚜️ So what does this mean for the current meta?

If we look at the current meta, most whale marches are still built around heavy backline damage. You keep seeing names like Loki, Khan, Apollo, or Medusa as the main damage dealers. Supports are usually things like Fu Fei, Nine Tails, or Qin Emperor. Tanks are names like Anubis, YSS, Bjorn, or Athena. And for attackers you still often see Alexander or Ares. Most of these marches also follow very similar skill structures.

For example, Alex or Ares usually run things like Knife Through Butter, Fully Prepared, and then either Wind Rage or Drastic Action. Tanks often take things like Divine Blessing, Energy Suppression, Assist, or Oaken Guard. Supports usually hold Spring of Life, Fountain of Life, and Life Protection.

The main issue is simple. Since the tank and support roles are usually already equipped with Aura skills, you cannot really compromise your damage dealer just to make them hold another Aura skill. So you have to make choices. If you already have Divine Blessing, then the next question becomes whether you are willing to replace something like Spring of Life with Grace. And if not, then the other option is going for something like double tank and letting that second tank carry the Aura instead.

Then it becomes a very different kind of protection setup.

Because now you are potentially looking at Divine Blessing reducing ultimate damage, Spring of Life reducing damage received, and Grace reducing critical damage received. That is a very annoying amount of protection stacked together, especially once you start thinking about longer fights.

That is also why I do agree with the opinion that this skill will likely make battles longer. I do not think it suddenly makes marches useless but it definitely looks bad for marches that rely heavily on crit burst. Grace does not stop them from doing damage. It just makes that damage feel much less.

And for F2P, I actually think this skill looks really good for Alex carry teams. Alexander is not the kind of carry that has to rely on huge crit bursts himself, but if he is fighting into teams that do, then Grace gives him a much better chance to survive that pressure and keep competing back. So in that sense, Grace is not only a skill for whales trying to drag fights out forever. It can also help more standard Alex-focused teams hold up much better into crit-heavy marches.

⚜️ Why players are already talking about it

And that is why people are already talking about Grace before they can even test it properly. Not because mages suddenly become useless, but because crit-heavy burst just becomes less rewarding. Some already call it bad news for Apollo or physcial marches. Others think it will mostly make fights longer and tankier setups more annoying to deal with.

From what people are already saying, the biggest worry is not that Grace kills one type of march completely. It is that it gives already tanky setups even more room to breathe. Especially if we start seeing things like double tank, or teams already running Divine Blessing and other defensive tools. That is where Grace starts looking really annoying, because now you are not only reducing ultimate damage or general damage, but also the payoff from crit burst on top of that.

⚜️ So what do I think?

Personally, I have a feeling we might start seeing double tank more often because of Grace. Or players may start asking themselves if it is worth replacing something like Spring of Life for it. And then there will also be people who just do not bother using Grace at all. At the end of the day, until the skill is actually out and tested properly, all we can really do for now is speculate about the different possibilities.
