💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? With so many skill options, it can become difficult to know which skills to equip over the other. In this article, we’ll take a look at one of the newest KvK skills, Growl, compare it to an older KvK skill, and determine which one is definitively better.

💠Growl

Growl is a passive skill that sacrifices early tempo for a significant boost in sustained damage, reducing initial Energy by 100 while increasing Physical Damage from 15% up to 50% at max level. The energy penalty delays the first ultimate cast, which is a drawback for most immortals that rely on early skill activation. However, this downside is effectively negated on immortals like Alexander the Great and Hannibal Barca, whose exclusive artifacts convert their ultimates into passive effects, making them unaffected by the Energy reduction. As a result, Growl is exceptionally strong on these units and other physical damage dealers that rely more on normal attacks or passive damage, and it can be obtained from the Legion of Frostborne Vendor.

💠Berserker

Berserker is a passive skill that greatly increases sustained physical output by boosting both Physical Damage and Attack Speed by up to 25%, but with major tradeoffs. It reduces energy regeneration by 75% and disables all triggered skills, making it ineffective on most skill-reliant immortals. However, it performs extremely well on units that rely on normal attacks or passive effects, particularly Alexander the Great and Hannibal Barca, whose exclusive artifacts convert their ultimates into passives, allowing them to avoid the downsides. This skill can be obtained from the Wish Shop.

💠Results

In controlled matchups with identical teams, troop tiers, and skills, battles averaged around 1 minute and 20 seconds and clearly highlighted the difference between the two skills. While Berserker increased attack speed and theoretically allowed for more hits, Growl’s higher damage scaling translated into far greater overall output in practice. Alexander with Growl consistently dealt over 50 million damage on both offense and defense, while the Berserker version not only produced less than half that damage but also died significantly earlier in every scenario. The results show that raw damage amplification from Growl outweighs the attack speed benefits of Berserker in real combat situations.

💠Verdict

Growl is clearly the superior choice. The 25% attack speed from Berserker does not translate into as much real damage as Growl’s direct Physical Damage increase, especially in sustained fights. Since both skills serve a similar purpose, Growl provides far better overall performance and consistency.
