💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 73’s The Arcane(ARC) and Server M006’s Justice League(JLA).

💠Overview

ARC entered the match with a 7–1 record in the first phase, their only loss coming against IMPK, and most of their other matches were not particularly competitive. They advanced through the first playoff round by defeating WOLF and typically field around 25–30 players per match. JLA finished the first phase at 6–1 with a narrow loss to BxB and advanced after beating RO in the opening playoff round, but they usually bring fewer than 20 players each week. Given the attendance gap and overall consistency, ARC should be considered the favorite in this matchup.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

ARC

  • Started with 23 players and ended with 25
  • 11 Attack talents
  • 10 Defense talents
  • 2 Support talents

JLA

  • Started with 13 players and ended with 16
  • 4 Attack talents
  • 7 Defense talents
  • 2 Support talent

💠Tower 1

Both teams sent seven players to Tower 1. Normally, ARC as the top-sided team would consider giving up Tower 1 to focus on Tower 4 and the Central Tower, but since they had a noticeable numbers advantage over JLA, contesting all three objectives was reasonable. ARC’s formation around the tower was generally solid with players grouped together and no major gaps, though a few members could have positioned slightly closer to the objective. JLA’s positioning was less efficient, with significant gaps between teammates and poor use of available space around the tower, which could slow their garrisons, rallies, and overall response time.

💠Tower 4

JLA sent five players to Tower 4 while ARC sent nine. Despite the top-sided positional advantage, ARC did not attempt to use edge spawns to block JLA’s relocations and instead opted for a standard formation, which wastes some of the inherent advantage of spawning closer to the tower. Two JLA players tried to relocate to the right side of the tower to block ARC’s placements, but because the top spawn is closer, ARC would always reach those positions first if they relocated correctly. With the numbers disadvantage and weaker positioning, JLA has little chance of contesting this tower.

💠Central Tower

ARC sent six players to the Central Tower while JLA chose not to contest it early. In most cases, teams should sacrifice one of the side towers rather than the Central Tower, since it generates the most points and becomes the focal point for map control once it opens. Even though it cannot be captured for the first ten minutes, securing it later quickly offsets any early deficit from losing a side tower. By conceding the middle, JLA gives ARC a clear path to establish long-term control of the map.

💠Altars

Neither team sent anyone to the altars.

💠Home Towers

JLA left one guard to defend their home tower. ARC decided to leave theirs unguarded in the opening minutes.

💠Play-by-Play

Once both teams landed at Tower 1, JLA focused primarily on sieging the tower while ARC prioritized attacking the surrounding enemies. ARC quickly drew first blood, zeroing one player almost immediately. They committed just enough pressure to prevent JLA from capturing the tower while continuing to pick off targets, deleting two more in quick succession. With JLA’s front line collapsing, ARC moved in to surround the tower and captured it six minutes into the match. Several JLA players attempted to return from spawn, but ARC eliminated them before they could meaningfully reinforce the area.

At Tower 4, ARC blocked two relocations and destroyed another, leaving only two JLA players to face nine ARC members. ARC concentrated all their attacks on the two targets and removed them from the area in less than two minutes. With no resistance left, ARC captured the tower two minutes later. Two additional JLA players eventually completed their relocations, but ARC quickly eliminated them as well. With the area secured, most of ARC began rotating away from the tower, with all but three players moving toward JLA’s home tower.

At the Central Tower, JLA had already conceded early control, allowing ARC to operate freely in the area. A couple of ARC members began relocating from the center toward JLA’s home tower while the rest maintained control of the objective. ARC officially captured the Central Tower twelve minutes into the match. Shortly after, two JLA players attempted to relocate into the area, but ARC blocked one relocation and quickly zeroed the other. With the capture secured, ARC held four towers while JLA controlled only their home tower.

Starting around the 7-minute mark, ARC players from Tower 4 and the Central Tower began relocating toward JLA’s home tower, where only a single guard was defending. The ARC force quickly overwhelmed the lone defender and zeroed him, nearly capturing the tower before reinforcements arrived. A second JLA player appeared to try to stabilize the defense, but he was unable to hold off the attackers by himself. ARC eliminated the resistance and captured the tower 15 minutes into the match, gaining control of all objectives and effectively sealing the game.

💠Summary

ARC won decisively, defeating JLA 100,000 to 8,400, with TAKE earning MVP honors. ARC was largely untested throughout the match as JLA’s opening strategy put them at a major disadvantage. By giving up the Central Tower instead of Tower 4 as the bottom-sided team, JLA conceded the most important objective and also failed to contest Tower 4 after ARC blocked multiple relocations. Going forward, JLA will need a better opening plan and stronger attendance if they want to compete deeper in the tournament.
