💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 73’s Snugglebunnies(BUNS) and Server 339’s Dark Night(DN).

💠Overview
BUNS finished the first phase with a 4–1 record, their only loss coming against HMB, and narrowly secured a playoff berth. Attendance has been their main challenge this season, as many of their core members are currently playing with ARC for KvK, limiting BUNS to roughly 20–25 players per match. As a result, this may be the first season where they are not considered a true contender, although they did defeat AWG in the opening round of the playoffs. DN finished the first phase at 5–3 and advanced after defeating ITYG in the first round when ITYG failed to show up. With both teams fielding similar numbers, BUNS should still be considered the slight favorite due to their experience and historical success in the tournament.
💠Starting Positions and Talents
BUNS
- Started with 15 players and ended with 19
- 9 Attack talents
- 3 Defense talents
- 3 Support talents
DN
- Started with 13 players and ended with 18
- 11 Attack talents
- 2 Defense talents
- 0 Support talent
💠Tower 1
BUNS sent four players to Tower 1 while DN committed five. One DN player attempted to block two relocations on BUNS’ left side of the tower, but that maneuver should fail since BUNS’ spawn is closer to that position. Most of the players from both teams were positioned relatively close to the tower, making early engagements likely. In low-attendance matches like this, it is usually better for each side to concede one tower and concentrate on the other two objectives. As the bottom-sided team, BUNS made the correct call by contesting Tower 1, though they likely should have sent a couple more players. DN, on the other hand, would have been better off giving up Tower 1 entirely and focusing their forces on the Central Tower and Tower 4.

💠Tower 4
At Tower 4, BUNS sent only one player, though they likely should have fully conceded the objective instead of committing anyone at all. DN sent three players, giving them a comfortable numerical advantage from the start. With such a small engagement, DN’s best approach would be to rally with their secondary marches to quickly zero the lone defender while using their other marches for solo attacks or to begin capturing the tower. Once the defender is removed, DN should be able to secure the objective without much resistance.

💠Central Tower
At the Central Tower, BUNS committed six players while DN chose not to contest the objective at all. In my opinion, conceding the center is a mistake because the Central Tower generates the most points and serves as the main hub for rotations across the map. As the top-sided team, DN would have been better off giving up Tower 1 instead and focusing their forces on the Central Tower and Tower 4. BUNS should have a clear path to control the middle, though their opening relocations could be improved to better occupy space around the objective.

💠Altars
BUNS didn’t send anyone to either altar. DN sent one player to the Sun Altar.
💠Home Towers
BUNS had one guard at their home tower. DN had two at theirs and they sent one to BUNS’ home tower, which should get destroyed.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, BUNS blocked one relocation and immediately began bombarding a nearby target with attacks, eliminating him within the first minute. With DN forced to constantly garrison against the barrage and unable to mount their own offense, BUNS captured the tower just four minutes into the match with little resistance. DN attempted to send three reinforcements to the area and managed to zero one BUNS player, but BUNS quickly answered by eliminating two of their own targets and blocking two of DN’s relocations. BUNS cleared the remaining enemies near the objective and surrounded the tower, preventing DN’s reinforcements from getting close even as more players continued to arrive.

At Tower 4, BUNS canceled their lone relocation, fully conceding the objective. With no opposition present, DN freely established control of the area and began sieging the tower. They captured Tower 4 four minutes into the match without any resistance.

At the Central Tower, BUNS quickly surrounded the objective since DN chose not to contest it early. DN eventually sent a player to the outskirts of the area, but BUNS focused him down and zeroed him a few minutes later. With no defenders nearby, BUNS captured the Central Tower 11 minutes into the match, giving them control of three towers and establishing their win condition. Shortly after, a couple of BUNS players began moving toward DN’s home tower, where only one guard was present. The defender managed to destroy one incoming relocation, but another successfully completed, opening the door for a potential invasion.

At Tower 3, DN attempted an early invasion of BUNS’ home tower, and BUNS initially failed to destroy the incoming relocation. However, two defenders quickly relocated from spawn to reinforce the position, and the three guards combined to zero the lone invader. DN then sent three more players to the tower, but BUNS immediately eliminated one and continued repelling the attack as the reinforcements trickled in one by one. Each arriving DN player was dealt with in turn and sent back to spawn. Meanwhile, a BUNS player noticed that DN’s Tower 4 had been left completely unguarded and relocated there, capturing it 15 minutes into the match. DN later sent six players to retake the objective and nearly succeeded about ten minutes later, but two BUNS members teleported in at the last moment and began systematically zeroing the attackers, stabilizing control of the tower.

At Tower 2, BUNS began relocating to DN’s home tower, forcing DN to respond with reinforcements from their spawn since most of their team was already committed elsewhere. BUNS managed to destroy a couple of incoming relocations, but they could not keep up with the steady stream of DN reinforcements arriving at the area. Recognizing the importance of the push, additional BUNS members teleported in to support the assault. DN struggled to match the pace of the incoming reinforcements, and their defenses gradually collapsed. BUNS captured Tower 2 twenty-three minutes into the match, gaining control of all five objectives and effectively sealing the game.

💠Summary
BUNS defeated DN 100,000–18,300, with LeiZ earning MVP honors. DN’s opening strategy was flawed, as strong teams typically contested one side tower and the Central Tower while sacrificing the other; instead, DN wasted time attacking BUNS’ home tower and gained nothing from it. BUNS capitalized by stealing Tower 4 when DN over-rotated, securing map control and advancing to face HOT in two weeks, while DN dropped to the losers’ bracket to face AWG.
