💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome to my beginner series where I’ll be taking a closer look at specific events that may be difficult for early-stage players or new events. In this article, I’m going to explore the game’s newest event, Rune Factory, what it entails, the rewards, and the cost.

💠Overview

Rune Factory is the new weekly event replacing Sparks of Galaxy, running for three days each cycle from Sunday through Tuesday. It introduces a consumable entry token, Energy Core, and a new shop currency, Rune Insignia, which you earn and spend in the event store. You can convert existing Frosty Orbs at a rate of three orbs to one Energy Core to stock up on entries.

💠Rules

During the event, using Energy Cores in the Rune Factory grants random item rewards while also filling an Energy meter. Once the Energy value reaches 100%, the next Energy Core used is guaranteed to produce 70 Rune Insignia, after which the Energy meter resets. It takes 101 Energy Cores to guarantee 70 insignias. Rune Insignias can then be exchanged in the Factory Shop for rare rewards. It’s extremely similar to Sparks of Galaxy in that sense. However, as the meter fills up, your chances of hitting the insignia does not increase.

💠Rewards

Each draw has a 0.5% chance to award 70 Rune Insignias, a 24.88% chance to award 10,000 gold, and a 74.62% chance to award 6,000 gold. When the Energy meter reaches 100%, the next Energy Core used is guaranteed to grant a Rune Insignia, after which the meter resets. Rune Insignias can be exchanged in the Rune Shop for rewards, including 280 Inferno Insignias for 70 Rune Insignias, five Dragon Essence for 40 Rune Insignias, or 100 Holy/Shadow Dragon Crystals for 20 Rune Insignias. Additionally, three Frosty Orbs can be traded for one Energy Core, allowing continued participation in the event.

💠Math

Without a pity system, the expected number of draws to hit an insignia would be 1 / 0.005 = 200 draws. The pity system caps at 101 draws, which significantly lowers the average. The probability of hitting an insignia before draw 101 is:

P(natural before pity)=1−(1−p)100≈39.4%.

Conversely, the probability of reaching pity is P(pity) 60.6%.

The expected draw count on natural hit before pity ≈ 50.4 draws. In essence, the average number of draws before you hit an insignia is:

Expected value[draws per insignia]=(0.394)(50.4)+(0.606)(101) which is ≈ 81 draws.

💠Cost

Every player can get a free Energy Core per day from the bundles screen. The event offers six in-game bundles and six GTArcade bundles for purchasing Energy Cores, with identical pricing and identical Energy Core quantities across both platforms. The bundles are priced at $4.99, $9.99, $14.99, $19.99, $29.99, and $49.99, granting 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, and 120 Energy Cores, respectively. There is no pricing advantage or bonus value to choosing one bundle over another, as all options provide the same cost-per-core. Since it takes, on average, 81 Energy Cores per 70 Rune Insignias, it will cost about $35. It’s far more expensive to get Inferno Insignias compared to the battle passes. It’s also more expensive to get Holy and Shadow Dragon Crystals than from its predecessor.

💠Summary

Rune Factory lets players spend Energy Cores for random rewards while filling a meter that guarantees a Rune Insignia at 100%. Rune Insignias can be exchanged for high-value items in the Rune Shop. Energy Cores cost the same across all bundles, with the pity system making 70 insignias average about 81 draws.
