💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series, where I take a closer look at different matches. The IBL tournament differs from regular IB in that everyone will construct marches and skill builds using a fixed set of skills. At different stages of the tournament, more immortals and skills will become available. Everyone has access to the same immortals and the same skills. Castle skins and Lord Talents do not affect the more fast-paced battles of IBL. Relocations and marching speed are also faster. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 396’s IMMORTALS(IMMA) and Server 450’s Luminous Followers(LF). IMMA’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while LF’s will be in red.

💠Overview

IMMA versus LF is a fairly even matchup between two developing teams still looking to break into the IBL playoff picture. Neither alliance has reached the playoffs in prior seasons, and both typically field around 20 to 25 players each week. IMMA entered the match at 3–2 after losses to Servers 248 and 394, while LF came in at 2–1 with their lone loss to Server 417. With similar attendance, experience level, and results to date, this matchup projects as closely contested with no clear favorite.

LF

  • Started with 19 players and ended with 29
  • 8 Attack talents
  • 10 Defense talents
  • 1 Support talents

IMMA

  • Started with 13 players and ended with 27
  • 4 Attack talents
  • 8 Defense talents
  • 1 Support talents

💠Tower 1

At Tower 1, IMMA sent four players while LF committed five. One LF player positioned on IMMA’s side to try to block two relocations, but with proper timing IMMA should always win that race. Two IMMA players crossed to LF’s side uncontested, as LF chose to relocate next to enemy landings instead of blocking them. LF’s formation was scattered, leaving isolated players without garrisons, so early control of the tower would come down to which side could quickly zero those exposed targets and collapse on the objective.

💠Tower 4

At Tower 4, both teams committed four players, with IMMA having one overlapping relocation. Despite being the top-sided team, IMMA lacked usable edge spawns to block LF’s landings and instead positioned conservatively away from the enemy. They also failed to place players directly next to the tower, leaving noticeable gaps. If LF could rally effectively or break through IMMA’s defenses, they would hold the advantage at this objective.

💠Central Tower

IMMA sent one player to the Central Tower. LF decided to give it up in the opening minutes. In games with few players on both teams, it’s alright to give up control of the center before it opens. It won’t take as much to wrestle back control if needed later. The early points are more important.

💠Altars

IMMA sent one player to the Moon Altar. LF sent two to each altar.

💠Home Towers

IMMA stationed one guard at their home tower. LF also had one at theirs, but they also relocated one to IMMA’s. It’s a poor decision as IMMA’s guard can just destroy the relocation if he’s paying attention and the invader would have wasted seven minutes.

💠Play-by-Play

IMMA opened Tower 1 by blocking one LF relocation, and LF had an opportunity to destroy one in return but failed to act as the three players nearby were slow to respond. IMMA committed directly to the tower, while LF chose to focus on attacking IMMA’s players instead of contesting the objective. LF flew the two IMMA players on their side of the map, then brought in two more reinforcements, zeroed another defender, and surrounded the tower. Just as LF was about to complete the capture, a lone IMMA player disrupted the siege and bought time. Two IMMA reinforcements then completed their relocations, which LF should have blocked or destroyed. One IMMA player was eliminated quickly, but IMMA managed to zero two LF players and delay the capture further. Despite the resistance, LF eventually secured Tower 1 at the 17 minute mark.

Both teams opened Tower 4 by canceling one of their own relocations, but LF immediately committed to the objective and began the siege. With no meaningful resistance from IMMA, LF captured the tower at the five minute mark. LF then drew first and second blood, briefly answered by IMMA with a single zero in retaliation. LF responded by quickly eliminating the remaining two IMMA players in the area. IMMA attempted to reinforce with two additional relocations, but LF blocked both cleanly. This sequence highlighted a common mistake, as relocating next to teammates allows a single enemy relocation to block multiple players at once.

IMMA initially held the Central Tower with a single player but rotated him out around the eight minute mark. LF then sent a player to the center, and IMMA responded by relocating another to replace the departing guard. LF followed with a second arrival and then a fourth, steadily building numbers. The LF group zeroed the lone IMMA defender, though IMMA managed to take one attacker down in the exchange. With the area cleared, LF captured the Central Tower at the 14 minute mark, securing control of three towers.

At Tower 1, even after losing control, one IMMA player continued to cause major disruption. She operated as a one-person army, zeroing multiple LF players and repeatedly clearing space around the tower. As she thinned the defense, IMMA funneled more reinforcements back into the fight. The sustained pressure eventually paid off and IMMA managed to steal the tower midway through the match. However, by that point LF had already built an almost insurmountable 43,000-point lead, limiting the impact of the recovery.

For the remainder of the match, IMMA split their efforts between half-hearted attempts to retake Tower 4, holding Tower 1, and attacking the altars. LF mirrored that inefficiency by committing significant manpower to altar defense. The altar focus was wasted time, as simply holding three towers would have secured a steady win for LF without opening windows for counterplay. Conversely, IMMA’s scattered approach reduced their odds; committing fully to a single tower would have given them a better chance to force a flip.

💠Summary

LF defeated IMMA 100,000 to 42,900, with G.C earning MVP. IMMA’s slow start proved costly, as they opened the match down six players and only matched LF’s numbers late, well after the deficit was set. Lady Nimira nearly carried a Tower 1 comeback on her own, but the rest of IMMA’s rotations lacked focus and cohesion. LF, meanwhile, wasted too much early time on altars and could have locked down all three neutral towers much sooner by prioritizing Tower 1 and the Central Tower. The result moves LF to 3–1, while IMMA falls to 3–3.
