💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome to this month’s edition of Winners and Losers for Patch 2.9.1. Patch 2.9.1 will be released on Thursday, January 15. The patch contains a new event that replaces Sparks of Galaxy, changes to Wisdom Well, and a slew of optimizations. We’ll take a look at what the update entails and the winners and losers of each change.

💠Table of Contents

  • Manufacturing Factory Event
  • Wisdom Well
  • KvK Optimizations
  • Summary

💠Manufacturing Factory Event

The Manufacturing Factory is a new  recurring event available every Sunday through Tuesday for servers that are at least 75 days old. Players use Energy Cores to activate the Rune Factory, earning random item rewards and generating Energy with each use until reaching 100%, which grants a Rune Insignia and resets progress. Rune Insignias can be exchanged for rare rewards, Energy Cores can be obtained directly or by converting Frosty Orbs at a 3:1 ratio, and the event replaces the former Sparks of Galaxy event. Sparks of Galaxy was a decent event for low-spenders as it was the best way to get Holy and Shadow immortals as well as Holy and Shadow Dragon Crystals. It was expensive to play with Gems, but it was still a good event for every type of player except those who had all the rewards they needed. The new factory will have to be just as good or better to consider it a win for players.

Winners: Those with nothing to gain from Sparks of Galaxy

Losers: To be determined

💠Wisdom Well

The Wisdom Well event has been reworked with the removal of the ban function and revised acquisition methods for Ability Stones and Unique Artifact Schematic Fragments. The prize pool now includes Wisdom Elixir, a new currency used in the Wish Shop to purchase Epic and Legendary Skills, alongside expanded use of Cinder of Wishes for exchanging Epic Skills, Schematics, and Alchemy Stones. Skill acquisition has also been streamlined, with Epic Skills available starting in Season 0, Legendary Skills added from Season 1 onward, and Epic Skills rotating into the Point Shop the following season. If Wisdom Elixir is included in the rewards along with existing shards and the guaranteed number of coins to get four shards doesn’t exceed the current number of 40, it’s a win for everyone.

Winners: Wisdom Well players

Losers: N/A

💠KvK Optimizations

KvK received several optimizations, most notably a reduction in the Faction Points required to enter Zone 2 from 3.6 million to 2.8 million. This change significantly benefits alliances without active allies, as they were previously limited to holding fewer cities and were often disadvantaged compared to factions with coordinated partners that could accelerate their progression.

Winners: Every KvK alliance and faction

Losers: N/A

Legendary Season personal achievements will now vary by Lord Contract, with unique objectives, completion methods, and some requirements tied to specific areas, while activating contract talents requires investing talent points. This should give players more variety in their tasks and daily musings. Hopefully, this change will also make progression more accessible for Fighting Masters, who previously struggled to complete achievements and daily contracts in factions with limited enemy activity.

Winners: Every player

Losers: N/A

Altar Stone functionality has been improved with clearer range visibility and targeting feedback. Across all Frostborne seasons, Thermal Tower and Altar Stone ranges are now displayed by tiles, while the Legendary Season adds a dedicated range view showing attack zones with color coding based on alliance status. Targeting has also been clarified so that when an Altar Stone is exposed, the entire inner city area is treated as a valid attack target. Previously, it was difficult to view the range of towers. Only by attempting to build it can a leader see the range and the indicator only applied for the next altar. This will allow more pre-planning.

Winners: Every alliance leader

Losers: N/A

💠Summary

Key changes include a revamped Manufacturing Factory and Wisdom Well, expanded VIP perks, and more accessible skill acquisition and rewards. KvK and Legendary Season gameplay were streamlined with lower entry requirements, contract-based achievements, clearer Altar Stone mechanics, and improved matchmaking and interface clarity.
