🔷 Introduction
Welcome to part 14 of my new Medusa series. This will be inspired by the new release of Medusa in our game and incorporating her legend within the realm of Norheim. I will be bringing 1 or 2 new episodes per week so stay tuned for more!
🔷 Part 13 Recap: "What Closeness Costs”
Alexander and Medusa begin to experience their bond deepening through shared pain, emotions, and even dreams, discovering that distance between them now causes harm rather than relief. As the land and their abilities start responding to them together, they realize the bond is no longer forming but actively taking shape, drawing the attention of forces that will try to use it.
🔷 Part 14: "Armor for the Corrupted”
The beast found them at dusk.
It burst from the treeline with the sound of metal tearing free from roots, a massive shape plated in enchanted armor fused directly to its hide. Antlers like broken spears scraped the low branches. Its eyes burned with a dull violet glow, unfocused and furious, as if rage had been poured into it without direction.
Alexander moved first, shield up, stance wide. The ground shuddered under the creature’s charge.

Before Medusa spoke, the plan formed between them.
Not words. Intention.
She did not look at the beast’s eyes. Instead, she fixed her gaze on the plates along its shoulder as Alexander angled himself just enough to draw its attention. Her curse slid outward, careful and precise. Stone veins crawled across the armor, stiffening the metal without fully freezing the flesh beneath.
The beast roared and twisted, momentum thrown off.
Alexander felt the resistance through his shield as if the stone itself were pushing back. He adjusted instantly, stepping into the stagger rather than away from it, slamming the shield edge into a joint Medusa had partially locked.
The impact rang like a bell struck underground.
The creature lashed out with a claw that should have gutted him. Alexander ducked low, already moving where Medusa’s tension spiked in warning. The strike passed over his head. He rolled and came up behind the beast, driving his shoulder into its flank.
Medusa hissed sharply, pain flashing across her hand as the creature tore free from the half-petrified armor. She steadied her breath and shifted her focus, not freezing but shaping. The ground beneath the beast hardened in a widening circle, stone answering her will instead of resisting it.
The beast’s hooves skidded. Its weight dragged it down.
Alexander did not hesitate. He ran up the incline of its shoulder, boots scraping against armor turned brittle by Medusa’s touch. The shield hummed as he brought it down hard against the creature’s helm.
Cracks spidered across the enchanted metal.
The beast howled, thrashing wildly. A shockwave rippled outward, magic flaring uncontrolled. Alexander felt the force slam into his ribs and at the same instant Medusa gasped, staggered by the same blow.
Shared pain. No time to dwell.
“Now,” Medusa said, the word unnecessary but grounding.

She met the creature’s reflection in the fractured armor rather than its eyes. Her curse surged, sharper this time, decisive. Stone raced across the helm and down the spine, locking plates together, freezing joints mid-motion.
Alexander braced, planting his shield into the ground. He poured his weight and will into it, anchoring the creature as the land itself answered. The beast strained once more, then stilled, trapped between stone and soil.
The violet glow in its eyes flickered and went dark.
Silence fell hard and sudden.
Alexander stepped back, breathing heavy. Medusa lowered her gaze, hands trembling as the last of the petrification settled. The creature remained frozen in a posture of fury, armor and flesh indistinguishable now.
“That thing was wearing its corruption,” Medusa said quietly. “Not possessed. Altered.”
Alexander nodded. “And it was sent.”
They looked at the statue together, both feeling the same cold certainty settle in their chests.
The bond had not guided them.
It had fought with them.
📄 Recap Questions
- How did Alexander and Medusa’s shared bond allow them to coordinate their abilities without speaking during the fight?
- What does the corrupted beast’s enchanted armor reveal about the nature of the threat hunting them?
🔷 Conclusion
Alexander and Medusa face a corrupted, armored beast and defeat it through precise teamwork that blends petrification, terrain control, and shield work guided by their bond. The battle proves their connection is no longer passive, revealing that enemies are being deliberately altered and sent to test what they are becoming.
See you next week!
