[Event Results] Thanksgiving Story Event – Outstanding Stories Showcase

Our “Thanksgiving Story Event: Share Your Story & Earn Rewards!” has now successfully come to an end.

During the event, we received many heartfelt and inspiring gratitude stories from you. Thank you all for taking the time to share your memories and emotions with the LOA community. 💛

The Outstanding Stories below were selected based on how closely they followed the theme of gratitude, how complete the story was, and the emotions it conveyed. Some entries were shorter but still very meaningful, and all eligible participants will receive the Participation Reward as announced in the original event post.

I am grateful for my family, friends,Guild members, and a roof over my head. In October,Breast Awareness Month, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am going to have surgery in December. Some may not count that as a blessing, but I am thankful they found it, so I can be with the ones I love the most. Right before my surgery, I am going to spend my anniversary with my devoted husband, whom I also play this game with. We were married on the forever date, 12-13-14. I am forever thankful for everything he does for me and our family. I am thankful for the Devs and helpers, for all the fixes in the game and all the codes, ect... Thank-you everyone for reading, Happy Thanksgiving, be blessed!

This Thanksgiving felt empty. No job, no celebration… just me and a small meal. I thought I’d spend the night alone, until a little knock changed everything. A young neighbor asked if they could join me because their parent had to work. We shared dinner, stories, and suddenly the room didn’t feel so quiet anymore. When they said it was the best Thanksgiving they ever had… I realized something important: even in our hardest moments, a small act of kindness can make a heart feel full again.

Ten years ago, I was playing League of Angels on the French server R2games. I met an incredible girl, and what followed was a nine-year friendship—a meeting on an unexpected and wonderful game. Five months ago, our story culminated in a beautiful wedding, as most people saw it. It's just a game to me, but it's so much more than that For all of this, I would like to thank all the craters in the game that allowed me to meet such a beautiful woman. I wish you all the happiness in the world for Thanksgiving, and I also wish the same for everyone who took the time to read my little story.

To my beloved sister, you will always be remember and loved. I am sorry I couldn't save you no matter how hard I tried to find a solution. It has been nearly a year since your spirit return to heaven. But still I see you in everything and everywhere. When I am watching your favourite anime this season, I remember the time we spend together laughing at the show. When I come across your favourite food, I wish you are here to enjoy it. When you saw my sling bag has worn out, you went online and bought me a new one as a Christmas gift, even though you were so sick then and bedridden, you still noticed the loved one around you and try to take care of us.

I am grateful and thankful that you are my sister. I am sorry I never tell you in person how important you are to me and how much I love you. As such this thanksgiving I like to take the opportunity to say. "Thank you for being my sister, I love you."

several yrs ago before I started playing this game I was homeless and living with my fiance we were blessed by a family from a church we regularly went to by being invited to their home for Thanksgiving and asked to stay till the following Monday when we left they handed us $2500 and wished us a happy holiday

I am thankful because I meet the love of my life in LOA 1. We meet in Syndicate alliance and I drive her crazy everyday until today 😂 A friendship started and we were fighting like cat and dog but that is our love spark. 2020 I had health issues, she was there for me from day 1.

Christmas 2021 early of 2022 I asked her to be my girlfriend (love distance) and few months later I went to hospital for surgery and until today she is my rock. She is different from other women.

I'm a blessed man, I couldn't ask for more.

I became a teacher—from being a 17-year-old gamer to where I am today.

Yes, you read that right. I was once a 17-year-old LOA player, and now, at 26, I am a teacher.

My journey began while I was playing a game. I met a player who changed my life for the better. I only had a laptop and an internet connection, no money to recharge, no expensive things. He became my in-game buddy, and he once told me that when I go to college, I should pursue teaching. And that’s exactly what I did. The road wasn’t easy, especially because I didn’t have much financially and I studied in a private school.

He offered help even when I never asked. Out of pure generosity, he sent money to repair my laptop because I needed it for both school and the game. I added him on Facebook and he accepted, but I never saw a single picture of him. We have been buddies in the game for almost eight years, yet I never had the courage to ask what he looked like. Still, he supported me mentally, financially, and gave me the best advice to finish my studies.

When I was preparing for the board exam, life became even harder because I only had part-time work. Once again, he helped. He even promised that if I passed, he would give me money for beer so I could celebrate, just a funny joke, but it pushed me to study harder. I passed my board exam, although I felt sad for not becoming a top-notcher. He told me it was okay.

Because of his kindness, I am now a teacher. Today, I am also about to finish my Master’s degree. I promised him that after graduating, I would work in Italy because he offered to help me teach or work abroad. But deep inside, I simply want to meet him in person, because he has been my true buddy all these years.

However, he is now struggling with an eye problem, and I pray he stays healthy and will still recognize me when we finally meet.

I learned that true generosity doesn’t need an audience. You don’t need to announce your help to the world, sometimes the most meaningful acts are done quietly. And because of him, I learned to carry this lesson in my heart and help others in the same way he helped me.

First of all, I want to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to the whole LoA family !! I am thankful for my husband and rock (who is battling stage 1 liver cancer right now and who had a procedure done at the end of September which appears to have worked), our 4 amazing kids, 7 grandkids, lifelong and new friends and the amazing team I work with. I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life. When I come home from work, I turn on my computer and spend some time with my amazing guild family on LoA and I have been doing that since 2015. Time is really flying.

Too many people take everything and life for granted but nothing is ever guaranteed. To me, it is important that I spend every day to it's fullest. YOLO = You Only Live Once. Every day, I try to spread love, at work and in my private life too. Kindness is free and when we are all a little bit kinder to each other, we can change the world. Change happens within each of us. Love will always win over hate. Like Ghandi used to state so fitting "be the change you want to see in the world". That is the motto I live by.

Going to focus this on R/L& LOA. 2025 has gone down in my personal record books as one of the top 3 worst years of my life. R/L saw me put in a position to have to break off a 2 decades + dedication to family business and a rift in the family I'm still trying to pull back. Have taken the proverbial jump off the cliff into the unknown with my career with no knowledge of what the outcome will be. Finances in the toilet and beyond during a shifting economy. One of my few enjoyable frustration ventilation outlets (off road racing) saw a season of silly little things turning a great start into a string of DNFs and DNS's combined with RV and race transportation breakdowns. Just couldn't catch a break anywhere.

When the time came this month to take a week+ road trip to break into the market and promote my latest career venture, I thought about bailing on LOA, which despite all of its foibles, has been one source of respite. A place to joke with never-met friends and strangers, hide from daily stresses for a bit and have a little fun. Going away for a race weekend has always made it a bit hard to get back into the daily LOA routine. I figured a 2 week trip was going to be the end.

Over the years, most of my closest friends here have quit, but there's a player who struggles in RL even harder than I. Who dedicates her time to family and has extended that dedication to her LOA family. I've never trusted anyone to access my account to take care of it -- ever. I asked that favor for the first time and it was granted. It took a little bit of stress and worry off my mind at a critical time -- and kept this usually fun little daily interlude alive for me. We all get tested, and I believe tested harder and harder the closer better things get.

I can't say "Thank you Dreams!!" enough. Always fun, witty with that sarcastic edge I love so much and there for me and our crew. You're the BEST! Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Pie crust is easy compared to life! 😜

Living in French Guiana, we don’t normally celebrate Thanksgiving. There are no turkeys in the oven, no parades, and no fall leaves—only sunshine, rain, beaches and a forest so deep that even the wind feels like a living spirit. But sometimes, imagining a celebration the way we would do it reminds me how special this place truly is.

If Thanksgiving happened here, it wouldn’t look anything like the American one.

Forget the turkey—someone would probably replace it with a perfectly seasoned roasted chicken creole-style, or maybe a big dish of dombrés, bubbling and fragrant. There would be riverside carbets or near some beaches or some inner forest instead of dining rooms, punch coco instead of cider, and music so lively that even the trees might start dancing: kasékò drums, bushinengue rhythms, and the soft chants of awassa echoing through the evening air.

People from every corner of our multicultural land would bring a plate :

Hmong vegetables from Cacao,

Creole gratin de bananes jaunes,

Surinamese/Guyanese some Roti with chicken curry

Haitian with some pumkin soup or fried bananas with coleslaw and either smocked chicken or porks ribs

Brazilian grilled fish,

Amérindian cassava breads,

And of course, someone would show up late but with the best rhum or either coconut/passion fruit punches, you’ve ever tasted.

We might not celebrate Thanksgiving traditionally, but if we did, it would become a celebration of the diversity, resilience, and warmth that define French Guiana. A reminder that no matter our origins, we share this unique land where rivers replace roads and cultures blend like spices in a single pot.

And strangely enough, playing this game gave me a similar feeling.

Every night after work, when I log in, my guildmates greet me as if I’m arriving at a big family feast. They’re from all around the world, in different time zones, but somehow we all meet in the same moment—laughing, helping each other, finishing quests, or just talking nonsense after a long day.

It feels a bit like our imaginary Thanksgiving in Guyane:

different people, different backgrounds, one shared table.

So my gratitude this year goes to them—

to the friends I’ve never met but who make my days lighter,

to this game that connects us beyond borders,

and to my home, French Guiana, whose spirit of diversity and warmth inspires even the celebrations we don’t have.

Maybe we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here…

but thanks to this event, I realized that gratitude has always been part of life in Guyane.

We just express it through shared meals, loud laughter, river sunsets, and the way people look out for each other.

And honestly?

That feels just as good as any Thanksgiving dinner.
