"The Warden Awakens" [Part 7] Legend of Medusa - An Infinity Kingdom Story

🔷 Introduction

Welcome to part 7 of my new Medusa series.  This will be inspired by the new release of Medusa in our game and incorporating her legend within the realm of Norheim.  I will be bringing 1 or 2 new episodes per week so stay tuned for more!

🔷 Part 6 Recap:  "Truths Beneath the Silver Sky”

 The Illusion Battlefield forced Medusa and Alexander to confront their deepest truths, revealing the vulnerable pasts they had both tried to bury. Instead of breaking them, the trial forged a genuine bond that neither had expected, acknowledged by the Kingdom itself.

🔷 Part 7:  "The Warden Awakens”

The silver grass barely whispered under their feet before the Illusion Battlefield shifted again. This time it didn’t twist with quiet curiosity or ancient judgment. It shook. A deep, rolling tremor rippled through the reflective plain like something buried beneath the surface had finally decided to wake.

Alexander’s shield snapped up. Medusa’s serpents hissed in unison, rattled by a danger none of them could see yet.

“That is not the battlefield,” Medusa said. “Something else is moving.”

A jagged crack split the mirror ground at their feet, stretching outward in a perfect line. Light poured through it like molten gold, and the air turned heavy, thick, charged with a presence older than myth and twice as furious.

A voice rose from the fracture, dark, hollow, pulled from a place long abandoned.

“Two legends… intertwined. A bond that never should exist.”

The light collapsed in on itself, then exploded upward. A towering figure emerged, wrapped in swirling black sand and gold armor tarnished from centuries of exile. A jackal’s head, carved from obsidian, glared down with eyes glowing like dying stars.

Medusa took an instinctive step back. “Anubis.”

Alexander had seen many warriors and rulers in his life, but none carried this kind of weight. This was not a foe summoned for a trial. This was a judgment delivered in flesh.

“I thought Anubis had been sealed,” Alexander said.

“He was,” Medusa answered. “The Kingdom bound him away when he turned against the cycle of legends. He wanted power outside of destiny. Outside of the Infinity Kingdom itself.”

Anubis raised a staff etched with ancient runes that pulsed like slow heartbeats. The ground around them darkened as if his shadow swallowed all light.

“Your bond woke me,” he said. “Your truth challenged the order that binds this realm. Legends are meant to clash, not converge.” His gaze locked on Medusa, then Alexander. “Two forces that should destroy one another. Instead you bend the path. You twist the balance.”

Alexander stepped forward without hesitation. “We did nothing wrong.”

Anubis tilted his head, almost amused by the defiance. “All wrong begins with good intentions.”

Medusa felt every serpent press close to her throat in fear, but she forced herself to stand her ground. “What do you want?”

“To restore the Kingdom,” Anubis said. “Starting by purging the anomaly.”

Alexander shifted into a defensive stance, shield ready. “You’ll have to go through me.”

Anubis’ staff slammed into the ground. A shockwave blasted outward, knocking Alexander back a step and forcing Medusa to dig her claws into the silver soil to stay upright.

“You misunderstand,” Anubis said, voice low. “I am not here to duel. I am here to judge.”

Sand swirled upward, forming the silhouettes of long lost warriors hollow echoes of legends Anubis had harvested before his fall. They surrounded Medusa and Alexander like a tightening ring of ghosts.

Medusa felt her heart hammer, not from fear but from anger. “If he wants to judge us, he will see the truth we earned.”

Alexander steadied himself beside her. “Then we face him together.”

The battlefield darkened as Anubis lifted his staff once more.

His voice rumbled through the realm like a death sentence.

“Let the purge begin.”
