A new event quietly replaced Trionfi of Fate in Patch 2.8.4. Welcome to Elemental Bond. This fresh format introduces new Immortal pools, reward mechanics, and a spending structure that shifts the value proposition, especially for low- and mid-spenders. Let's break down what changed, how the new event works, and whether it’s worth your money.

1. What Happened to Trionfi of Fate?

Trifoni of Fate used to be a staple monthly event. Players flipped 12 cards in search of:

  • 12 Immortal shards
  • 1 Sun Crystal
  • 2 Artifact Fragment chests
  • Dragon Crystals, Speedups, EXP scrolls

Two daily flips were free. After that, each flip cost 300 Gems. Depending on luck, getting all 12 shards cost between 600 Gems (with free flips) and 3,600 Gems.

You could also choose your target Immortal from a fixed pool: Dido, Cyrus, Hammurabi, Arash, Atalanta.

With Patch 2.8.4, Trifoni of Fate has been retired. Its place now taken by the new Elemental Bond event.

2. Meet the New Elemental Bond Event

Elemental Bond runs weekly, every Friday to Monday.

It features the same 12-card board mechanic but with major changes:

  • No more free flips
  • No Gem usage
  • Each flip now costs 1 Soulglass Crest, a paid item
  • You can flip all cards for 12 Soulglass Crest.

New Mechanics:

  • Immortals rotate between elements: Fire, Earth, Wind, Lightning.
  • You still get 12 shards and 30 Dragon Crystals in total.
  • Soulglass Crests can only be obtained from paid bundles:

Surprisingly—and for once—the value per dollar remains consistent across all bundles. Unlike most in-game packs, the cost per Soulglass Crest doesn’t increase as the bundle price increases.

Total Spend to Complete:

  • Best case: $1.99 (if lucky)
  • Worst case: $2.99 (to guarantee 12 shards)

3. Spending Logic: Is It Worth It?

Let’s normalize the value:

  • Trifoni of Fate: Free flips + Gems. Cost variance was high.
  • Elemental Bond: Paid-only. Cost is flat and low.

If you're targeting rare Immortals like Charles, Khan, or Trajan, and you want shards certainty, Elemental Bond is cost-efficient.

But for Free-to-Play players: zero value without free flips.

Compared to Lucky Spin or Trionfi of Fate this event provides less randomness and better price stability.

4. Maël’s Opinion

I think Trionfi’s blend of chance and daily engagement gave Free-to-Play players hope.

Elemental Bond is cleaner and more predictable, but it's clearly a monetization play. The shard-to-dollar ratio is solid, but the loss of accessibility feels like a step back. However, inclusion of Khan, Charles fragments make it quite interesting for low spenders in comparaison to the 99$ Epic Return bundle.

If you’re spending a bit weekly, it’s a no-brainer. But if you're not spending at all, it’s a reminder of how the gap widens between Free-to-Play and light spenders.

I'd love to see hybrid systems—maybe 1 daily free flip or some with Gems, and the rest via Soulglass.

5. Final Thoughts

Elemental Bond simplifies shard acquisition but only if you pay. It’s efficient, reliable, and opens new Immortal pools.

But for long-time players who enjoyed Trionfi’s pacing, it’s a shift in spirit as much as in currency.

Your turn:

  • Have you tried Elemental Bond yet?
  • What Immortal would you like to see added to the rotation?
  • Should free flips come back?
