💠Introduction
What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield League(IBL) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom, and players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the quarterfinal match between Server 73’s Prideland(PRD) and Server 170’s Imperial Knights(IMPK). IMPK’s positions in this match will be denoted in green while PRD’s will be in red.

💠Overview
PRD entered the playoffs with a 7-1 record, losing once to SF in their second bout after beating them in their first meeting. They also defeated WP in the last match of the phase. PRD went on to have dominant wins over Server 277’s HoK, Server 191’s Inka, and narrowly beat Server 209’s WP to secure their Top 16 berth. They went on to have an upset win over Server 38’s Ascendants of Asgard in the first round. On the other hand, IMPK went 5 for 5 but had a relatively easy strength of schedule. They went on to beat Server 253’s Cats, Server 311’s OP, and Server 105’s AWG without much trouble to win their gold bracket. They also defeated Server 139’s team in the first round with ease to qualify for the quarterfinals. PRD should be favored over IMPK as IMPK seems like they are missing their flair from seasons past and PRD looks rejuvenated.

💠Tower 1
PRD sent 13 players to Tower 1 while IMPK relocated 7. Both teams contested the spot at the top left corner of the tower. PRD should be able to get that since they had better edge spawns and they are usually better than IMPK at marking their players’ positions. PRD had 4 players adjacent to the tower and their standard formation couldn’t have been better. IMPK had 3 and a couple of players could have been slightly closer. They should have given up the contested spot and relocated more conservatively. Aside from IMPK needing to assign more players to the tower, neither team did anything egregious.
💠Tower 4
PRD had few good spawns for Tower 4 so they opted to give up Tower 4 entirely. IMPK read PRD like a book and only relocated 3 players there. Every bottom-sided team has given up Tower 4 except for MYK because the positional advantage the top-sided team has over the tower makes it so much more difficult to capture.
💠Central Tower
PRD moved 14 players to the Central Tower and IMPK relocated 15. PRD’s relocations could have been neater and more organized like IMPK’s impeccable formation. Whoever wins control of the Central Tower depends on who can send the most attacks. Theoretically, IMPK could have given up Tower 1 and committed 22 players to the center, considering they knew PRD would overload Tower 1 and 7 players would not be enough to stop them.
💠Altars
PRD sent 1 player to the Sun Altar and IMPK also sent 1 to the Moon Altar.
💠Home Towers
Both teams stationed 2 guards at their respective home towers.
💠Play-by-Play
At Tower 1, PRD blocked a relocation and won the battle for the corner spot, giving them a 13 to 6 advantage. The blocked player relocated back to Tower 1 when he should have gone to the Central Tower instead. PRD quickly zeroed 2 people and took the tower at 5 minutes. Ideally, they should have captured the tower immediately. With so many players at the tower, there really is no excuse they couldn’t capture the tower sooner. Sometimes a few minutes could be the difference between a win and a loss. By the time 6 minutes rolled around and with only 4 enemies left, some PRD members started moving toward the center while the others surrounded and zeroed the stragglers. Those IMPK players should have relocated to the Central Tower as soon as they could instead of wasting time dying at Tower 1.

IMPK captured Tower 4 just before 5 minutes with no opposition. Fewer members meant taking the siege was going to be slow and they took it just before PRD did. All in all, it’s almost like PRD traded Tower 4 for a free Tower 1.
In the center, PRD zeroed 3 enemies within the first 4 minutes before IMPK zeroed anyone. IMPK was relocating players who died at Tower 1 to the center PRD was moving players from Tower 1 to the center. With more players, PRD was able to block move relocations than IMPK could. Additionally, PRD was relocating forward while IMPK was flying or relocating backward. By 10 minutes, IMPK had 7 players in their spawn while PRD had none. PRD also heavily swarmed the Central Tower with 23 members. In my opinion, it was an over-commitment. Leaving Tower 1 with only 3 players was a mistake, especially since when most PRD members left, there were still 2 IMPK players near the tower. PRD effortlessly took the Central Tower at 11 minutes. By 17 minutes, PRD zeroed almost all of IMPK in the center and started dispersing their players to their other 2 towers. PRD held a 7,000 lead at 20 minutes. A lot of IMPK relocated to the Moon Altar.

At the same time, at 12 minutes, IMPK relocated a player to Tower 3 and teleported 8 more over the next minute. PRD answered with their teleports, supplemented by their relocations. Over the next 8 minutes, PRD would zero a couple, get zeroed, return from their spawn, and finish quelling the invasion.

At 21 minutes, IMPK started relocating and teleporting to the vicinity of Tower 1. 1 even teleported next to the tower where it was surrounded by 7 players and was zeroed almost instantly. PRD sent too many players to Tower 3 so their rotations to Tower 1 were a tad slow. Hordes of IMPK players were disappearing from the Moon Altar and reappearing on the outskirts of Tower 1. They were slowly but surely overwhelming PRD. They had 21 players surrounding the tower and PRD couldn’t send reinforcements fast enough.

The desperate attempt left IMPK’s Tower 4 with only 2 guards. PRD recognized that they wouldn’t be able to hold Tower 1 much longer so 6 players instantly teleported to Tower 4, zeroed the 2 enemies, and traded Tower 1 for Tower 4. PRD stole the tower at the 30-minute mark, giving them a minute with control of 4 towers until IMPK took Tower 1. The trade meant IMPK’s last 10 minutes were fruitless. They were back where they started with less time on the clock. PRD led by 16,000 points at this point.

Simultaneously, PRD also teleported and relocated 3 players to IMPK’s Tower 2 where only a single player stood guard. IMPK teleported 1 player and relocated another to try to stop the attempt, but most players already spent their teleports and relocations to move to Tower 1. PRD captured the tower at 32 minutes, giving them a fourth tower for the second time. IMPK took the next 5 mins recapturing Tower 2, but PRD had already grown the lead to 30,000 points with 22 minutes remaining. IMPK tried to attack PRD’s home tower again. Unfortunately, to mount a miraculous comeback, IMPK would need control of 4 towers, a feat they didn’t have any time for. PRD cruised to a win.
💠Summary
PRD’s Mike was the match MVP as they won the match with 100,000 points to IMPK’s 57,200. IMPK made a good decision to only send a few players to Tower 4, foreseeing that PRD would give it up so they didn’t commit many to take the tower. Unfortunately, they made the mistake of under-committing on the other side of the map. They wasted the time of 7 players and still lost the Central Tower handily. Their decision to spend half of their teleports to invade Tower 3 was also a poor one. It got snuffed immediately. Instead, they should have moved to attack Tower 1 when PRD left only 3 players there. When the invasion got snuffed, IMPK spent the next 10 minutes relocating to the Moon Altar to go to Tower 1. They could have saved some time if they just went to Tower 1 earlier and sooner. PRD’s prone to overcommitting, but IMPK isn’t good enough at rotations to take advantage. Every time IMPK rotated, they left their own towers open. IMPK seems like they are in serious need of a competent shot caller to make better decisions during games. PRD moves on to battle AoW while IMPK is knocked out of the tournament.
