Poorly Thought Out Swaps

Why have the swaps in this game become so bad, I have all of the swap options in screen shot 2 after wining the angel in screenshot 1, so I now have a completely useless angel icon in my inventory despite ranking 2nd in SST. Where is the incentive for anyone to spend money faced with this short sighted option?
