More benefits, more surprises
A new war session was announced throughout Westeros. A clash between kingdoms to obtain the title of champion conqueror. A deadly race to obtain the magnificent rewards of the city of Fort Nightmare of the Lords. For Arthurion, his invitation letter had reached him early in the morning. As champion conqueror, his title was at stake. Would he be able to keep it? Would he be overtaken by another member of his alliance? Would his allies be ready to support him after the monstrous losses already incurred during the previous siege? Would he find himself facing a monster ready for anything?
He naturally questioned his closest allies:
- Do you still have some troops left for the next siege of a champion city?
- A little.
- A lot.
- Passionately!
- Madly.
- I got zeroed.
The gain in occupation was quite secondary for Arthurion. The attack badge offered as a reward was an infantry/lancer badge. He himself lacked motivation at the idea of losing so many troops to go get such a useless badge. The glory of the title was not worth so little. And it was sometimes good to be on the side of those who launch the rallies against the glorious city. Obviously, no champion city siege could be won as a team. So a whole enterprise was set in motion. First, it was necessary to draw up a list of all the participating kingdoms. Then send an invitation to all the players worthy of interest.
Hi! We are in the same group tomorrow for the CCS. We are gathering a team of players interested in taking and holding the city! If you are interested, do not hesitate to tell me!
Arthurion
Then wait for the few answers that would come. And guide people. Do the math. Reassure your sponsors. And try to change destiny.
-<( OPPONENTS )>-
Arthurion often exchanged with his closest allies to update his information on the upcoming war:
- Arthurion: There are big alliances. A few big players ready to annoy us, especially WxC. They seem to be mostly cavalry and infantry.
- Vangark: I'm going to go around the kingdoms again to find allies.
- PacoVega: I saw LEG. Again... They're going to make us sweat. As usual.
- Diabola: I saw some very good friends! They'll come support us.
But as with every siege, the list of real participants could only be refined in the minutes before the siege opened. When the different outsiders would make themselves known, and friendships or enmities would tip the scales on one side or the other. In the few minutes before the kick-off, the map showed:
- The xNx alliance, led by Arthurion and his closest allies. Diabola had even managed to get a member of the BaN to join them.
- Then there was the LEG alliance. Few in number, but still as deadly. Their thirst for blood is matched only by their thirst for merit! Wherever they are, they are always formidable opponents. Never underestimate the LEG.
- Next up was the main opposing alliance: the AfV, with members from the WxC and DUM. They were definitely there to grab the rewards.
- Then there were a few scattered opponents. KACs, who had come understaffed, whom Arthurion had tried to recruit to his side. DNas, whom Arthurion had also tried to rally.
-<( FIRST TAKE )>-
Everyone knew that the first take was crucial. Once well lodged in the castle, it was sometimes very difficult to get its occupant out. Arthurion put all his riders on alert, but the first take was not to his benefit. It fell into the hands of STRAW Berry, a member of the DUM and WxC. As expected, fierce opposition was to be expected.
- Arthurion: What is Straw Berry playing?
- Vangark: He's playing as a knight?
- Arthurion: Are you sure? As a knight with the Night King?
- Vangark: Sure !
- Arthurion: Are you sure it's not a trap?
- PacoVega: You're the trap! Go for it!
So of course, Arthurion did it. He had prepared himself especially to launch rallies, and inflict maximum damage on his opponents.
When the first rally hit, Arthurion didn't expect this result. They had clashed, riders against riders. But STRAW BERRY had broken the female synergy by placing the Night King in its midst, instead of Daenerys. A questionable choice, given Daenerys' absolutely gargantuan efficiency alongside Cassana with her one-star weapon!
Let's remember that Cassana's weapon with a star allows commanders to trigger their active army skill even a second earlier. Enough to bring a significant benefit. On the other hand, STRAW's line featured almost only rider commanders. Daenerys would have helped to counterbalance the counter effect a little.
Since the first rally had been successful, Arthurion naturally launched a second one.
The presence of infantry within the champion city once again broke the effectiveness of the female synergy. Another strategic error in favor of the attackers. Arthurion was nevertheless surprised to see the resistance of his opponent.
The third rally was almost identical. The damage done by the defenders was absolutely incredible. Arthurion remembered with fear the last siege of a champion city where he had earned his title of champion conqueror, and the hundreds of thousands of troops he had lost, he and all his allies, to defend the city.
-<( NEW STRATEGY )>-
Carried away by the fervor, Arthurion had almost lost his underlying objective, which was – if possible – to keep his title of conquering champion. But he was cut short very early by Vangark:
- Vangark: @Arthurion: no point in trying to compete for the title, it was already obtained early in the morning by one of our colleagues at FFS: KORGEI.
- Arthurion: WHAT? So we only fight for glory?
- Diabola: No, I fight for the power of love and friendship!
Diabola was the mother of the group, and had a heart filled with love that made her and her friends live in the Care Bears world. A world where those who reside there live happier than the others. And luckily, Arthurion was lucky enough to live there. Touched by Diabola's remark, Arthurion then had to adapt his strategy.
- Dopehop: I can start a Spear rally if you want!
- Arthurion: Then let's try a synchronous rally. That should give them a little scare!
The two rallies, sent one after the other, were effective enough to free STRAW BERRY. And one of his companies took the place.
-<( SECOND ROUND )>-
A new one took the place in the castle, and it was Syllica of the same alliance as STRAW BERRY.
Arthurion had no idea what kind of troops his opponent was playing. But since the castle always took long minutes to fill up, he had to take advantage of the initial time to attempt a bloody attack and retake the castle.
Unfortunately, Syllica had not obtained the house by luck, but rather with the aim of defending it. This was therefore a formidable opponent. Once again, a very well-mounted female synergy. Arthurion's first rally was launched, and did the necessary damage to weaken his opponent.
But not enough to take the house. It was necessary, once again, to attempt a solitary attack.
The second attack was much more effective. And finally, Arthurion obtained the place he secretly coveted: the throne of the city!
-<( DEFENSE )>-
Once on the throne, it was now necessary to administer the city. Know who to let in, who to let out, who to give the right to park on the places reserved for the carriages of the guests, on whom to make flow rivers of gold and diamonds. Arthurion liked to pamper the infantry. He willingly let them in, to better crush them under the weight of his cavalry. He systematically refused the hospitality of the lancers. Arthurion was a very selective host.
Of course, the opposition was formed. And his opponents began to send him the first notices of opposition. And those whom Arthurion had tried to recruit in vain, now found themselves ready to tear him apart. This fight against KAC was surely one of the most beautiful of his career. A magnificent attacking line, but literally broken on Arthurion's wall.
Other small ones – very secondary – then came to crash against Arthurion. It must be said that many clearly wanted to thin out their troop.
The resistance was not so tough after all. Each alliance tried to challenge Arthurion, without much success.
The losses remained minimal for Arthurion, who began to slowly dream of the first place that interested him so little. But his dream was shattered by the arrival of his toughest opponent: STRAW BERRY. Who gave him a severe beating, and thus freed the castle. It is true that the difference in step size between the attackers and the defenders was not in favor of the defense.
-<( THIRD ROUND )>-
Another friend of STRAW BERRY took the place in the castle. Another stranger to Arthurion. But this time, he was reminded to be wise by his lifelong friend:
- PacoVega: Arthurion! Don't rush like a donkey. I know you're burning to run. But you don't know the enemy's defense troops. So start a rally instead.
The advantage of always hanging out with the same brilliant strategists is that they end up knowing you by heart. This was the case for Paco and Arthurion.
So a rally was organized. Arthurion was beginning to wonder about the almost infinite capacity of his allies to fill his rallies on horseback. And when he struck, a big smile appeared on Arthurion's face.
- Arthurion: Cool! An infantry! It's time to have fun!
And since the first rally had hit. The second would do the same.
The enemy damage was absolutely considerable. Arthurion's losses were even quite minimal. The enemy clearly had a monumental amount of troops to lose on this city!
Arthruion was even quite surprised to lose no troops in combat! These rallies came back in full force! A very interesting combat report, especially when the opponent had the Night King, whose most interesting power was to increase the enemy's loss rate.
-<( ULTIMATE FIGHTING )>-
But time was flying by at an incredible speed. Arthurion was in third place in occupation time, behind STRAW BERRY and Syllica. Clearly, the AfV wanted to place their infantry companion in third place. After having installed himself with surprise in the castle, Arthurion was once again the victim of a rally by STRAW BERRY.
The damage was monstrous. And expected. STRAW BERRY was aware of his power, and used it to defend his rank and those of his friends.
The tension rose again by a cramp, when Dopehope regained control of the city from the hands of STRAW BERRY. Before being then freed. And retaken by STRAW, then by SYLICA. Then by Arthurion. Then by STRAW. Then by miyako in infantry. Then by the KAC. The different alliances exchanged the city of the nightmare fort of the lords without any being able to hold it for long. The dead began to pile up on all sides, making any defense impossible. Who wanted to fight with their feet in the blood of their own troops?
If this was truly the peak of the exchanges, their intensity had lost their splendor. They were no longer anything but battles, led by the troops who had resisted all the previous assaults. Fighters surely crippled, without legs, their skulls deformed by the hooves of the riders. Time continued to tick by, as each new attacker resisted for only a few seconds.
-<( CONCLUSION )>-
The end of the allotted time finally arrived. The dead were counted in the millions (even billions) on all sides. The AfV had defended their causes, and quite rightly obtained the title, honors and rewards of victory. Arthurion and his colleagues had finally obtained what they really wanted: a maximum of merit and bravery tokens! Despite the fierce opposition of their multiple adversaries, Arthurion had chained together devastating assaults. This surely explained the ability of his allies to tirelessly fill his rallies.
Arthurion's secret objectives were not achieved. He did not even reach the top 3, which were filled by the AfV alliance. Obtaining the golden badge for infantry and lancer was clearly useless to him. But the glory that came with first place, he would have taken it with great pleasure. He questioned himself at length about the interest of putting the Night King in the female synergy. In the absence of strengthening the synergy, it allowed to increase enemy losses. Vangark also came to trouble his mind again, when he came to remind him that the rally size mattered little once in the city, and that it was perhaps necessary to review his refinement for the siege of the champion city.
A new test thus ended for Arthurion and his friends. He was no longer in possession of the title of champion conqueror (which he would not have been able to obtain anyway). He had not had the first place of occupation. But good god what a phenomenal quantity of death he had inflicted on his adversaries! The DUM/WxC had sold their skin dearly. It was hard to believe that such a combat badge was worth the lives of millions of soldiers. By the end of the day, he was no longer Arthurion the Conqueror. While he had not earned the title that came with it, he was the real nightmare of the lords occupying the city.
