Introduction
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my series breaking down the many skills in the Tower of Knowledge. With so many skills to choose from, it can be intimidating to know which skills are the best options to choose, and which skills are to be avoided. With this guide, you will now be able to learn about the skills one at a time.
Today, we will be taking a look at Fighting Master. Although it is only an Elite skill, and might be overlooked due to the low power it gives, in reality it is one of the best skills available. Not only does it reduce the damage received by 15%, it also gives immunity to control effects. The ability to render control effects useless makes it a great skill that can be used on almost any type of immortal.

Skill Breakdown
What exactly does it mean to give immunity to control? Control effects refer to skills such as stuns, silence and confuse. This makes it a great skill against skills such as No Escape, or immortals such as Loki. However, Fighting Master does not work against all skill effects, with some skills such as Weakening Curse still being able to affect the immortal. Himiko’s ultimate skill, Demonic Ambush, is also able to pull an enemy immortal into the void even if they have Fighting Master equipped, although this might change soon according to messages from the developers.
Ideal Immortals
As one of the most versatile skills, Fighting Master can be equipped on every type of immortal. Since it reduces the damage taken by an immortal, it is great on support and defence immortals who usually receive a lot of damage, such as Fufei and Charles. It can also be used to damage dealers such as Himiko and Seondeok healthy, extending the amount of time that they are able to do damage. However, its biggest strength is its ability to give the immortal immunity to control effects. This prevents immortals from being controlled, which for damage dealers would reduce their overall damage, and for support immortals would reduce their healing. It also allows some burst heroes such as Seondeok to ignore No Escape and deal large amounts of burst damage at the very start of battle.
Accompanying Skills
On support and defence immortals, Fighting Master is often paired with Assist or Guard and an Aura skill such as Shelter. With the immortal receiving so much damage due to Assist, having Fighting Master reduces the damage taken, which keeps the immortal alive for longer. The immunity to control effects also prevents Assist from not activating due to a stun or confuse effect from the enemy.
On magic immortals, Fighting Master reduces the damage taken from the enemy, but also provides control immunity. This prevents control effects from disrupting any damage from the immortal. Against Loki, Fighting Master also prevents the immortal from being confused and dealing damage to its own team.
On burst immortals such as Seondeok, Fighting Master allows them to negate the effects of No Escape. This allows the immortal to start gaining energy immediately once the battle starts, and start doing damage sooner. The few extra seconds often makes all the difference, dealing high burst damage and killing enemies before they have even had a chance to attack.
Epilogue
From this, we can see how ubiquitous Fighting Master is, being useful on almost any immortal and on any team. From burst Fire teams to slow Earth teams, it has its place on every team. While there are other immortals that are able to reduce the damage taken by an immortal, its ability to provide immunity from control effects is unique, and is what makes it irreplaceable.
