Hello everyone, and welcome back to another season of open arena! As Season 12 comes to a close, many players will begin their final push to the top to earn some dragon essence by reaching the next tier, or that extra bit of stardust that comes with finishing higher on the leaderboard. Let us now dive into the best performing formations and skills currently at the top of the leaderboard.

Immortal Restrictions

Both Shadow and Holy are viable choices this season, since both of their key immortals, Manco and Tutankhamun, are not banned. However, Shadow has been the preferred option, since both Siegfried and Tomyris are not required in Shadow teams, and their bans do not have much impact. On the other hand, both Theodora and Khubilai Khan are usually used in Holy teams, and while they can be easily replaced with other immortals, the strength of the team will take a small hit.

Earth teams have taken a substantial hit, with both Charles and Alex being key immortals in most Earth teams. Even though other immortals are able to fill their roles, this greatly limits the flexibility of all 3 teams. 

Wind teams have been slightly nerfed too. While the banning of Atalanta does not have much effect, Qin’s ability to Wound is a very powerful ability that will be missed by anyone who still chooses Wind.

Fire teams have not been affected much by this round of bans. Although Wu and Hippolyta are sometimes used on Fire teams, they are not a must as long as Seondeok is available.

Similarly, Lightning teams have not been affected by the bans either. Richard and Yi Seong Gye are not usually used on Lightning teams, leaving all the usual Lightning immortals untouched.

Skill Restrictions

These banned skills do not have much, if any impact at all this season, since they are very niche skills that are only used on a few immortals. Full Coverage is usually not used on any immortal other than Hippolyta, and since she is banned too, there is little effect with this ban. Victorious Pursuit also has little impact, since it is only used on Manco. However, ever since Blood Frenzy has been introduced, it has eclipsed Victorious Pursuit, which is rarely used anymore. 

Top Teams

This is one of the most common team combinations, with 3 support immortals, the Holy dragon and Baldwin as the sole damage dealer. It has rapidly gained popularity recently, and has seen widespread use the past few seasons. 

Baldwin is the ideal immortal for this team as he is able to deal massive amounts of damage. Out of all the Magic immortals, he has the best synergy with Corrosive Power and Psionic Tide. By combining that with Demonic Contract, no team is able to withstand his massive damage once he is given time to ramp up his damage. 

This is another team that has been popular this season. It is the classic Shadow team, with Tutankhamun as the main damage dealer, and Himiko as the secondary damage dealer. This is one of the few teams that is able to deal damage quick enough to stand a chance when going up against the Baldwin team shown above.

Fire is also another very strong team this season. With the Baldwin team being the most popular option, Fire has been a great counter for that team. It has the highest burst potential out of any team currently, and is often able to defeat other teams before they have even had a chance to ramp up their damage.

These teams rely on Seondeak to deal all their damage. With Corrosive Power and Time to Shine, she is able to burst down entire teams within seconds, something which no other immortal is able to accomplish.

Conclusion

With the immortal and skill bans being relatively similar to past seasons, teams have become quite set. Most players are either using a Baldwin or Shadow main team, with Wind and Earth as their secondary and tertiary teams. This combination has proven itself to be the strongest option available, and if the bans next season does not change this, it will very likely continue to be the top option for seasons to come.
