💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield(IB) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom that players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the match between Server 73’s The Pride(PRD) and Server 193’s FATE(F8). F8’s positions in this match will be denoted in yellow while PRD’s will be in red.

💠Overview

Server 73 and Server 193 have matched in the past but not in their current iteration of alliances. For KvK, PRD merged with BUNS and F8 merged with KoS. As a result, this match is more akin to server versus server than alliance versus alliance. PRD got the best of KoS last time and while KoS made it to the top 16 in IBL, PRD should have more firepower to handle KoS in regular IB.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

F8

  • Started with 32 players and ended with 39
  • 12 Attack talents
  • 19 Defense talents
  • 1 Support talents

PRD

  • Started with 28 players and ended with 31
  • 6 Attack talents
  • 19 Defense talents
  • 3 Support talents

💠Tower 1

Both teams sent ten players to Tower 1. PRD’s positions are fairly standard with a few people who could have been slightly closer to the tower on the bottom side. One PRD player moved to block a relocation on F8’s side of the tower. If both players move at the same time, the F8 player should get first dibs on the spot. F8 conceded a lot of the spots on the right side of the tower which shows they relocated later around the PRD member. F8’s positions on the top side of the tower were well placed otherwise.

💠Tower 4

Both teams also sent nine players to Tower 4. PRD conceded a lot of the spots around the tower since they knew Tower 4 was more advantageous for the top-sided team, but they didn’t relocate far enough from the tower. F8 did well to use your edge spawns to move closer to PRD’s side of the tower, but instead of just moving closer, one player could have blocked at least two relocations.

💠Central Tower

PRD sent five players to the center while F8 relocated nine with one player overlapping two others. F8’s players were significantly further away from the tower than PRD’s, but they had several teammates next to them to help rally and garrison. PRD’s formation surrounds the tower better, but it doesn’t afford them better support.

💠Altars

Both teams sent one player to their respective altars.

💠Home Towers

PRD had two players at their home tower while F8 had four at theirs. Four is two too many at the start of the game. Typically, there isn’t any threat of an invasion until seven minutes into the match when players can relocate a second time.

💠Play-by-Play

F8 was late to start relocating to Tower 1 so PRD blocked one relocation on F8’s side of the tower which doesn’t typically happen. PRD proceeded to destroy three more relocations. With a couple of other players late, PRD had a ten-to-four advantage. They zeroed one player and destroyed another relocation. That sequence of events gave PRD full control of the tower and they captured it a few minutes later. Then some started relocating to the center.

At Tower 4, F8 blocked one relocation and destroyed two. PRD destroyed one in response. The teams traded rallies and took turns stopping each other’s attempt to capture the tower. Whenever it looked like PRD was gaining a lead, F8 sent more reinforcements. Neither team had enough firepower or manpower to capture the tower and defend against the barrages of attacks at the same time. By 17 minutes, there still wasn’t a clear victor at Tower 4.

Some of each team’s strongest players congregated in the center, but neither had a significantly stronger team than the other resulting in the need for rallies. It turns out that PRD was better and quicker at rallying. F8 put up a good defense with their garrisons but PRD did well to target those who were garrisoning others. PRD got more reinforcements from Tower 1 and that broke F8’s back. By 10 minutes, PRD had overwhelming control of three sides of the area so they started capturing the tower. A few minutes later, they had control of three towers to F8’s one and created a 4,000-point lead.

Once the situation at the center was under control, PRD teleported and moved to Tower 2 and Tower 4. Since Tower 4 was at a stalemate, the extra manpower pushed it into PRD’s favor and allowed them to take it before the 22-minute mark. At the same time, PRD’s three-man army was wreaking havoc at F8’s home tower. The numerous opponents couldn’t stop their burglary and PRD stole the tower at 25 minutes, giving them control of the whole map. With control of all five towers, PRD carved out a 30,000-point lead with no way for F8 to come back. The game ended in under 35 minutes.

💠Summary

PRD’s xOwned was the match MVP as they won the game with 100,000 points to F8’s 12,500. Aside from the difference in strength, F8 bungled their efforts at Tower 1 with their late relocations and poor garrisons. Losing Tower 1 so early into the match meant PRD could rotate to the center and overwhelm F8. Losing Tower 1 also meant they needed to control the center and Tower 4. Instead of continuously sending more players back to Tower 1 where it was heavily guarded and surrounded, F8 needed to make the rotation to the center to help grab control. F8’s strategy at Tower 4 was sound. They could have positioned more aggressively to block more relocations at the start which would give them a better chance at taking the tower. Despite having fewer players, PRD distributed their power well and rotated quickly.
