More benefits, more surprises
The 5th round of the arena of honor's second season has arrived, with fighters motivated and wishing to capture the City of Glory, a feat which would provide them with great rewards and fame renown within all seven Kingdoms, as it was widely known how hard it was to achieve. Ashun and his team were no exception to this, as they have fought together many times, yet they have never managed to capture the City of Glory for themselves despite their countless attempts, the best they could do, is reach the second spot in the rankings, which lately, they have struggled to live up to as well.
Ashun was leading the team consisting of BaN and GCM fighters alongside Tweety, their tactics were not always the most convenient ones, but they were willing to go to great lengths if it was going to provide an advantage to the team. Both of the leaders however, also cared deeply for the individual members of the team, they were fighting side by side even before the arena, their bond spoke for itself.
In their past round, they had a tough match-up, where they could barely stay fighting, but thanks to the unconventional strategies of fighting for something other than altars, they managed to secure a well-deserved 3rd spot in the rankings. In that round, they faced against HOH, an opponent that would always be a difficult one to battle against. Ashun hoped that this time, everything would go their way, and that they could finally achieve the long-lasting dream.
But as fate would have it, the sun would not shine in their way once again. The arena was filled with gruesome warriors from NBe and WTF, all of whom better and stronger than Ashun and his team. The main opponents seemed to be the NBe fighters, filled with incredibly strong names, such as MUSA dra, Charl1e and also BaraThrum and not only, their House was directly attacking Ashun's, it was a bad predicament. All of the fighters of the NBe team have reached the pinnacle of the Arena of honor many times, having conquered the City of Glory in most of their attempts - everyone knew about them.
Seeing this, everyone in Ashun's team was terrified at what could happen, with a few of them feeling too overwhelmed, but Ashun and Tweety knew everyone could handle fighting for altars in this match, they only needed to keep their House reinforced at all times in order to not accidentally lose it. The team was going to construct trade posts, something that would not give them the troops inside the house that they benefitted from in the previous round where they built spear camps.
Ashun needed to make sure everyone understood the importance of that, and that they would be sure to follow through before the fighting began. And sure enough, everyone shook their head in approval, and thus signaling the start of the contest.
Sure enough, the NBe team was attempting to capture all altars available, making sure no one could stand in their way of domination on the battlefield. Ashun seeing this, knew that any altars which NBe took, was not something they could mess with, neither the ones that WTF captured, but Tweety did not want them to stand looking at the enemy troops do as they desired, he wanted the team to die trying, and they did just that. With his call, a rally was raised, though it was instantly lost a few moments later, as the strength discrepancy was just too great.
As more and more altars opened up, the strain of the fights lessened, as more targets were ready for capture, and this was where Ashun's team really shone. They captured many altars, securing them a second spot in the rankings within no time, they were going to have a blast in the round which they thought to be lost before it even began.
Ashun, although he believed in everyone's strengths, he was still surprised at how well everything was going, more and more points were coming in each minute, solidifying their position in the rankings, they were untouchable in the 2nd spot. With NBe focusing on the City of Glory capture, there was nothing that could go wrong.
At least that is what they hoped. With only a few minutes to spare within the fight, the unexpected happened.
Even though Ashun called for the reinforcements on the House in order to defend it, it seemed as if NBe had captured it, and fully reinforced it. Ashun was livid, seeing this was not something he had planned for, and chose to do a desperate act. He attempted to solo attack the House for at least a bit more intel, but rallies had to be raised without a delay. Their strongest rallies if they wished to not lose.
Everyone hurried, but still in shock at what was happening. No one could believe their eyes, they now watched their best rallies attempt the recapture, but it was in vain. The House was lost and the defeat was what met them at the end of the round. This felt unreal to Ashun, everyone ended up being very distracted by altars, that they lost sight of the initial lookout: troops inside the House.
As he looked at his comrades, Ashun knew that defeat today only fueled their determination for next round. He gathered his team, their heads held high despite the loss as their performance up until the very last moments was magnicifcent, and with a voice filled with resolve, he spoke.
"We may have stumbled today, but this isn't the end. Each battle teaches us something new, and we've learned the importance of not losing sight of our foundation: the House. We’ve stood strong together before, and we will do so again. Next time, we are certain to do better, we can only go up. We’ll rise higher, and the City of Glory will eventually be ours. Remember this defeat, but let it drive you forward."
The team nodded in agreement, their spirits lifted by his words. Ashun's eyes gleamed with fierce determination. The arena had yet to see the best of them, and in the rounds to come, Ashun would lead his team with renewed focus, leaving no stone unturned in their quest for victory.
