Game Mechanic : Last Stand

Hey everyone, I'm PO PandaMoratia. In today's article, we'll be discussing the Tower of Knowledge Skill Last Stand. We'll cover the skill's effects and I'll share my overall thoughts on the skill and its place in the current meta.

Last Stand is a premium Legendary skill available in the Tower of Knowledge. Be careful with Legendary skill, it doesn’t require soulstone to level it up but more skill shards, 5/10/15/20/30/40/60 + 60 to unlock the skill for a total of 240 skill stones to unlock and max it up.

Concept : 

Last Stand takes effect when your troop number is less than 70%, reduces your damage taken by 60% and increases damage dealt by 60% at max level. The game mechanic works in such a way that the lower your troop number and the less damage you deal, the more proportionally you will lose troops. Last Stand's increased damage helps to mitigate this effect and adds a little extra damage on top of it. Therefore, while it is a very effective ability, it is not as overpowering as it may seem at first glance due to the higher numbers.

Best use on ?

The skill can only be used on Attack Immortal, which makes sense since you want to lose troops in order to activate its effect. It greatly increases both survivability and damage, turning your Attack Immortal into a sturdy killing machine. It can be very successful when used on anyone (as expected for a Legendary skill). It's interesting to note that it has a synergy effect with the third passive of Demeter the Earth Dragon, which also increases your damage dealt by 4% for every 10% of troops lost, up to 5 times. Therefore, this skill is probably best used on Alexander, who can combine both effects for an insane amount of damage and survivability.

Good combinaison : 

There are several skills that work well with Last Stand, either by synergizing with the damage loss mechanic or by complementing Alexander if he is the user of this skill. Last Stand has a dual effect, increasing both damage and survivability, offering multiple leverage points.

Unyielding: This skill increases your critical rate by 50% and provides a recovery effect of 30% of the damage dealt for every occurrence of physical damage once you reach the 70% threshold, similar to Last Stand.

Implosion: When combined with Last Stand and Unyielding, Implosion can further enhance your physical damage output.

Berserker: Specifically effective for Alexander, Last Stand works well in combination with Berserker, creating a potent skill duo. You can then complement the build with skills such as Unyielding or Wind Rage to truly enhance your capabilities.

Conclusion

Last Stand has a significant impact on the game's meta as it can be used to both empower and counter Alexander simultaneously. Alexander's goal is to quickly eliminate the opponent's main damage dealer to shift the flow of the match early on, but Last Stand prevents this by providing substantial damage reduction once the user's health drops below 70%. When combined with Demeter and Alexander, this ability can turn Alexander into an even deadlier threat, transforming him from a frontliner destroyer into a pseudo tank.

Even when not used on Alexander, Last Stand remains an extremely potent skill, one of the most powerful in the current state of the game, truly deserving its Legendary status.
