💠Introduction

What’s up, folks? Welcome back to my Illusion Battlefield(IB) series where I take a closer look at different matches. IB is different from the IB League tournament in that you will use your normal teams, skill sets, talents, and decoration skins so strength is extremely relevant. The mode is also much slower-paced. Relocations and marching speed are slower. The event is one of the most entertaining events in Infinity Kingdom that players enjoy spectating, almost like a sporting event. In this article, I’m going to take a closer look at the Week Five match between Server 73’s The Pride(PRD) and Server 115’s Dragon Heroes(DH). PRD’s positions in this match will be denoted in yellow while DH’s will be in red.

💠Overview

PRD had a 3-1 record heading into the match, only losing to their sister team, BUNS, in the first week. They were ranked 11 in Season 4 and 9 in Season 5. DH was also 3-1 before this match. They didn't make the playoffs in Seasons 3 or 4. They have been a pleasant surprise this season, especially being able to field as many players as they can every week. PRD should still be heavily favored.

💠Starting Positions and Talents

PRD

  • Started with 28 players and ended with 32
  • 5 Attack talents
  • 16 Defense talents
  • 7 Support talents

DH

  • Started with 23 players and ended with 28
  • 4 Attack talents
  • 19 Defense talents
  • 0 Support talents

💠Tower 1

PRD sent 9 players to Tower 1 while DH sent 6. DH had 5 fewer players than PRD to start the match so instead of contesting both Towers 1 and 4 where there are usually 8 to 10 enemies, it’s easier to contest the center where there are usually fewer players. PRD had very standard relocations and used their edge spawns very well to contest the corner spots. DH’s relocations were a mess. The players on the left of the tower were a unit too far from the tower and one tried to block PRD’s relocation despite not having a better spawn. DH had a tough hill to climb from the get-go. The DH players need to be closer to each other too so they can deploy faster rallies and garrisons.

💠Tower 4

PRD sent 11 players to Tower 4 and DH sent 12 with one overlap. I would have preferred DH give up Tower 4 and move all those players to the center and Tower 1 instead. Tower 4 is closer to the yellow team so if they have any edge spawns, they can easily leverage those players to block enemy relocations and gain a significant numbers advantage. That’s exactly what PRD did. They moved a player to the corner of the spawn to block DH’s side of the tower. It’s clear that DH waited for PRD to show their relocations and then moved to accommodate their positions. PRD had control of nearly all four sides of the tower and all of DH’s players were further away. Several of DH’s players had too much space between their teammates as well.

💠Central Tower

PRD sent 3 players to the center and DH sent one. DH should have distributed their players from Tower 4 to Tower 1 and the Central Tower. With one player, DH wouldn’t be able to hold on anyway and the PRD players can block and destroy DH relocations for several minutes.

💠Altars

PRD sent one player to each altar. DH only sent marches from their spawn.

💠Home Towers

Both teams had two guards at their respective home towers. One DH player also tried to move to PRD’s home tower.

💠Play-by-Play

At Tower 1, PRD knew immediately they had more players surrounding the tower than DH so they went straight for the tower. They captured it at the 7-minute mark and DH was too far from the tower to stop it. Once PRD took the tower, they started rallying and solo attacking DH players, zeroing them from the vicinity. DH kept sending more and more players to the tower but they couldn’t get anything going.

At Tower 4, PRD blocked one relocation and destroyed another. PRD activated Quick Occupy and decided to go all in on the tower. They captured it at the 4-minute mark and did what they did at Tower 1, they started clearing DH without much effort. DH would have put up a better fight had they sent the Tower 4 players to Tower 1 simply because PRD got so much of an advantage just from the map and how close the tower is to PRD. PRD did well to slide into the open spots around the tower and pushed DH back.

In the center, PRD quickly zeroed the DH player who returned minutes later, but was zeroed again. PRD took the center without much resistance with four players. By the time PRD took the center, they were up 10,000 points and had four towers to DH’s one with 47 minutes left in the game.

Once PRD secured Towers 1, 4, and the Central Tower, they teleported and moved to DH’s home tower. They captured that at 18 minutes. DH tried to put up a fight but they were already fighting an uphill battle with a third of their members at Tower 1, another third at Tower 4, and the rest trying to retake their home tower. DH tried their best but couldn’t make anything happen as PRD cruised to a win.

💠Summary

PRD’s Dande was the match MVP as they won the game with 100,000 points to DH’s 8,900. It was one of the quickest matches of the game despite both teams having a similar number of players. DH could have opened the match better by allocating their numbers and players in a better fashion. They needed to give up Tower 4 once they saw PRD had better spawns than they did and focus on Tower 1 and the Central Tower. It may not have changed the outcome, but they would have put up more of a fight. PRD did well overall, but they also need to garrison better.

What else can DH improve on? Let me know in the comments below!
