My First AC Match with NFI was looming. Nerves were on high alert. I feel like with each alliance I have joined I have learned a different aspect of Alliance Conquest. In UnC I was learning the basics. When to rally, when to reinforce and racing to take buildings as we could. We had some strong teachers showing us the ropes. It helped me become a better player. When I was in tSB, it was my first time in an alliance that consistently plays and does well in Super League. They were much more organized with maps showing where people should be on the map. Rally leaders prepared to launch at certain buildings. Joining NFI has built upon those earlier lessons and added in some new things like racers and swapping buildings.

My nerves were on high alert, as one of the smallest and newest in the Alliance, it is important to me that they see value in me. It’s easy to feel more burden than help as I look around at the other accounts in the alliance. I am still what I would consider developing, although some of my friends say I am getting fat. Lol. I am just beginning to work on things like awakening commanders for different synergies. This game leaves you in a perpetual state of catch up unless you happen to be one of the biggest whales in the game.

I didn’t have too much time to descend into worry, our match was here. Our opponent was HOH,

They were our faction mates in AOW and legitimately the best part of the big boy map for me. Yall should know I am a Depravity fan girl. But seeing Del and Grom in action during AOW made me have to add them to the list as well. lol

We had our briefings on the pre match preparations in the alliance discord. Discussing Rally leads, how to reinforce them and where we should be on the map. Leadership let us know that this is a match we likely will lose. They are a strong alliance with a great grasp of game mechanics. If for nothing else, we could use the opportunity to shake the rust off. While I don’t like to lose, I mentally prepared myself for what I believed to be the inevitable. Not that I wouldn’t try, cause yall know I will channel the mighty mosquito fast and in a hurry lol.

Before I knew it the match was here. I added the necessary buffs, double checked my castle, march and equipment. When I was sure my ducks were in a row, I jumped into the map. It always impresses me when there is 90 plus players in a match on each side. Seeing all the squares full and fancy castle AOE effects brings me some inner peace.

Most of HOH had the visual of their castles as trees, with the AOE effects taking place it reminded me of abstract Christmas trees.

The alliance was in voice chat to make giving instructions easier. I was mentally going over how to reinforce the different people. Some I know but there are a lot more I don’t. Next thing I know, the match had begun. Rallies popped up left and right. Racers were off to the buildings they were assigned too. The map chaos had begun as marches were pouring out en masse all over the map. Some were solo marches out to take a building or knock someone out. Some were rallies set to knock HOHs strongest out. HOH came out and dominated early on, taking most of the buildings. We also managed to get a couple. There was an endless parade of rallies for every specialty imaginable. HOH was able to knock us from some buildings, and we managed to return the favor a couple times too. I feel like I had spent more time in the rally screen and the hospital screen than seeing the actual match play out. I was in the zone, unaware of both the score and the time.

Grombold had taken up residence at Casterly Rock. He was heavily reinforced at all times, and he was never in danger of losing it and we couldn’t do much about it either lol.

When the bubbles dropped a couple HOH players hit me directly, fights I had lost. To be fair I didn’t realize right away that I was even being attacked as I was joining rally after rally in an endless loop lol. The next time I got the alert, I wasn’t even sure if there were troops inside as I was reinforcing some buildings and joining rallies like a crazy woman, but figured lets see what happens. If nothing else I will get some of those juicy stats on the battle report. HOH Thantios was the one paying me a visit. He sped into my castle and I fully expected to see the you know you lost gurl report lol

BUT...

I had to blink several times to make sure I was seeing correctly. How did I win? I didn’t have time to ponder the question long before his next attack at me was launched. This time I was slightly more confident, but still expecting to lose. I am a wee little elf in the pool of whales. Lol. Thantios again sped in to hit my castle and I again won the battle. Well I am not totally useless I thought to myself. I can win some fights.

With a renewed confidence, I looked to Thantios on the map to launch my own attacks. After all he had been to my castle twice, I hadn’t yet visited his. I didn’t want to be rude. Lol 😂Yeah, so it turned out that it was not my best and brightest idea. Sometimes it is best to leave well enough alone. But yall know I am a habitual line stepper so I really couldn’t help myself lol.

We lost the match as was expected, but it was a fun and exciting match versus a great group of people.

We played hard and it was a great way to shake off the dust and get back into the AC groove. Obviously, it would have been better to win and improve our ranking instead of drop, but I really have no complaints and I learned a lot. How did your first AC match go?
