Character Training Guide Summary

Skill Configuration:

Low: 1,451

Medium: 1,454

High: 1,555

Max: 5,555

Cosmo Setup

1. Outstanding Self-defense: White Mist + Morning Glory + Fruits of Strife + Fuchsia

2. Excellent Support Ability: Thought Control + The Cross + Gardenia + Marsh

Cosmo Sub-Attribute Selection

Post-awakening sub-attribute selection tip:

C.ATK ≥ Healing ≥ HP > Skill Res > DEF (Speed's priority depends on the party lineup)

Pre-awakening sub-attribute selection tip:

Healing ≥ C.ATK = HP > Skill Res > DEF (Speed's priority depends on the party lineup)

Reasons (Post-awakening):

1. C.ATK increases the restored HP and Shield given by Underworld Shun to his allies, thus is now of higher priority.

2. Once awakened, Underworld Shun is able to summon Shield to protect his ally units. Shield is related to C.ATK and hence can be considered as a second priority.

3. Underworld Shun offers strong protection and has the ability to grant extra moves, making him the target of the enemy units. HP and DEF allow him to survive longer, while Skill Res increases the chance of him being immune to control effects.

4. Since his extra move buff is hard to be interrupted, and he is able to grant extra moves to the ally unit before him according to speed, Speed is not his priority. Players can enhance it if they see fit and adjust Underworld Shun's Speed based on the Saint he is supporting.

Awakening Attribute Bonus

1. Part Bonus: 240 C.ATK, 550 HP

2. Treasure Pavilion: 220 C.ATK, 5% Healing

Recommended Lineup Strategy

Underworld Shun has an outstanding ability to protect and restore HP to low-speed ally units, with a consistent ability to grant extra moves. Based on the overall assessment of his capabilities, the recommended lineup strategy is as follows:

1. In terms of the damage dealers: Papillon Myu is the best choice of partner for Underworld Shun. Other damage dealers such as Hades Alone and Divine Cloth Scorpio will also perform exceptionally with Underworld Shun's extra moves.

2. In terms of protective Saints: Underworld Shun can be paired with other core members of low-speed lineups and powerful protective Saints such as Odysseus, Cain, Divine Cloth Taurus, Surplice Shion, Awakened Divine Cloth Shiryu, Awakened Saori Kido, Albafica, and so on. As for Control Saints, the recommended partners for Underworld Shun include Awakened Siren, Awakened Grand Pope, etc. These Saints have high-cost powerful control skills with cooldown time to form a cycle of control.

Awakening Skill Analysis

Soul Container - Awakening

If ally Saints are attacked before taking action, with every instance of an attack, they have a chance of recovering HP. If they have already taken action, they have the same chance of gaining Shield. From the third round onward, the protective effect will wane. The instances of Healing (before taking action) and the number of Shield (after taking action) granted are limited to a total of 5 for both.

Every 2 times the protective effect is triggered, Underworld Shun will purify 1 stack of any debuff for his ally. When any ally Saint dies, he will purify 1 stack of a debuff for all allies

This is his awakening skill that significantly improves Underworld Shun's protection over his ally units. Once awakened, not only does Underworld Shun possess a great ability to restore HP to low-speed ally units, but he can also protect his high-speed ally units with Shield. In the face of multiple damage and AoE attacks, he is able to keep his party intact, purify debuffs, and restrain popular lineups like the Bleed Lineup and Ice Lineup. Overall, Awakened Underworld Shun's skill enhancement is well-integrated.

Other Skill Analysis

Absolute Power

Deals C.DMG to the target, with a certain degree of Life Steal effect.

This is the basic attack and has limited improvement and low efficiency. Players may leave this skill to be leveled up last.

Divine Possession

Hades' soul possesses an ally unit, granting them 1 extra move. However, the Energy cost of the skill will increase. When the possessed ally Saint attacks, Underworld Shun will provide battle assistance and attack their main target as well.

This is his 1-Energy active skill. It is one of the rare multiple-move active skills in the game. Its extra move effect is difficult to interrupt, making the skill incredibly helpful to the party. There is a downside, though. This skill will increase the Energy cost of other skills. Players are recommended to level up this skill to at least Level 4 to minimize the energy consumption and ensure that the skill effect lasts for just 1 action round.

Perfect Body

When an ally unit dies, Underworld Shun's Healing effect improves, and he has a chance of casting his passive skill, Soul Container, on all his allies again.

This is his passive skill, which mainly boosts Underworld Shun's protective effect after losing an ally unit to prevent more allies from being killed off one after another. Leveling up this skill improves Healing effect and increases the chance of triggering Soul Container. Players are recommended to level up this skill to Level 4 to ensure a 100% chance of triggering Soul Container.

Cosmo Setup In-Depth Analysis

1. White Mist + Morning Glory / The Cross / Spirit Print + Fruits of Strife + Fuchsia / Marsh

White Mist is currently the Solar Cosmo with the best attributes to ensure high survivability, providing high P.DEF and C.DEF as well as 10% C.DMG Res. It is the perfect Solar Cosmo for Underworld Shun, who needs to prioritize his survivability and defense.

Underworld Shun's base P.DEF and C.DEF are equal without any obvious flaw. He may equip himself with Morning Glory for the Lunar Cosmo, which has balanced attributes. If players intend to restrain P.ATK or C.ATK Saints in the enemy party, The Cross and Spirit Print are recommended.

The recommended Star Cosmo is Fruits of Strife. The Solar and Lunar Cosmos provide Underworld Shun a strong defense, while Fruits of Strife increases P.DMG Res and C.DMG Res, improving his survivability drastically. He can then offer better protection to his party.

The best Legendary Cosmo for Underworld Shun is Fuchsia. His base Speed is not high, and his skill mechanic is most effective with low-speed Saints, so he ought to forgo Speed for other attributes. Fuchsia will significantly increase Underworld Shun's survivability. He is also one of the support Saints who is most suitable with Marsh. This Cosmo can also provide the party better functionality.

Solar Cosmo: White Mist (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, HP, Skill Res, SPD)

Lunar Cosmo: Morning Glory / The Cross / Spirit Print (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, Healing, HP, Skill Res)

Star Cosmo: Fruits of Strife (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, Healing, HP, Skill Res)

Legendary: Fuchsia / Marsh (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, HP, Skill Res, SPD)

2. Thought Control + The Cross + Gardenia / Fruits of Strife + Fuchsia / Marsh

The increase in Awakened Underworld Shun's C.ATK is higher than before. If players want to maximize his protective ability at the expense of his self-defense, then they have an alternative option.

Pick Thought Control for the Solar Cosmo to boost Underworld Shun's C.ATK, which in turn increases his HP-recovery ability and Shield. This Cosmo also provides a bit of C.DEF, so he won't be left completely defenseless.

The recommended Lunar Cosmo is The Cross. Since the Solar Cosmo has already taken care of his C.DEF, the Lunar Cosmo will focus on his P.DEF as well as his overall development to ensure his adaptability.

Players may stick to Fruits of Strife for his Star Cosmo to improve his survivability and keep him on the battlefield longer. If Underworld Shun is in a lineup in which he requires a certain degree of Speed to maintain the team's performance, players may equip him with the HP-enhancing Gardenia.

The recommended Legendary Cosmo is Fuchsia, the same choice for the Underworld Shun who prioritizes high self-defense. If his lineup lacks elements of Marsh, he may equip himself with it. But when it comes to self-protection, always stick to Fuchsia.

Solar Cosmo: Thought Control (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, HP, SPD, Skill Res)

Lunar Cosmo: The Cross (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, Healing, HP, SPD)

Star Cosmo: Gardenia / Fruits of Strife (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, Healing, HP, Skill Res)

Legendary Cosmo: Fuchsia / Marsh (Sub-attributes: C.ATK, HP, SPD, Skill Res)

Awakened Underworld Shun's Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages:

Once awakened, Underworld Shun's protective ability becomes stronger than ever before. It improves his Healing effect on attacked ally Saints who haven't taken action and allows him to apply Shield on allies who have taken action, as well as reduces the extent of which his protection wanes in the mid and late game. In short, he is now able to offer intensive and extensive protection to his allies.

Every 2 times his protection is triggered, Underworld Shun will purify 1 debuff for his team 1 time. It is an especially helpful function on the battlefield where debuffs are cast at an astounding rate.

Underworld Shun can protect low-speed Saints better than he protects high-speed Saints. He will be a difficult opponent to the high-speed Artemis Lineup which specializes in high-speed attacks.

Disadvantages:

Underworld Shun's Healing ability might be restricted by Orphée's no-healing control skill in the early game and he will then be not able to restore HP. After the early game, Underworld Shun's protection will wane. If he is up against Albafica, who can apply multiple stacks of Demon Rose Poison, his protective ability will be greatly impacted.

Underworld Shun's Healing effect might shorten enemy Awakened Myu's evolution phase. As for his attacked ally Saints who receive Shield protection after taking action, the effect of Shield might backfire in Awakened Myu's presence. (Myu deals additional damage to Shielded targets)

Effective against: Artemis, AE Saint, Gemini Kanon, Divine Dohko, Albafica, etc.

Weak against: Awakened Myu, Albafica (Albafica and Underworld Shun are effective against each other), Awakened Divine Shiryu, etc.

Party Lineup

1. Low-Speed Ice Lineup

God Skill: Hidden

Surplice Shion (Marsh)

Awakened Underworld Shun (Fuchsia)

Albafica (Fuchsia / Hyacinth)

Awakened Camus (Fuchsia)

Awakened Myu (Fuchsia / Double-Horned Snake / Felina)

Divine Camus (Double-Horned Snake / Rising Dragon Teeth / Tree of Resurrection)

Ban Slot: AE Saint, Lune

Replacement:

Awakened Myu → Awakened Pisces / Cain / Divine Dohko

Lineup Strategy:

This Ice Lineup that prioritizes self-defense. The overall Speed of the party is relatively low, as well as the Energy consumption of the team. Using Divine Camus' passive mechanic, Ice Seal can lower the damage dealt by the enemies. Demon Rose Poison has a similar effect too. With Underworld Shun and Surplice Shion's protection, the lineup is fairly well-guarded.

At the start of the battle, Surplice Shion can choose to protect Awakened Camus, who is at risk from being killed off easily. In the mid and late game, however, Surplice Shion can shift his focus to Divine Camus or a damage dealer on his team.

Underworld Shun's Skill 2 may target Albafica to help him quickly stack Demon Rose Poison and accelerate the Bleed effect. Underworld Shun may also grant Myu extra moves, allowing the latter to accumulate stacks of his passive, Death Fairies, and fight independently in the late game.

Camus applies Ice Seals via basic attacks, leaving the Energy to Divine Camus to cast his Skill 2 and cast Divine Ice as many times as he can. These two Saints are excellent at disrupting the enemies' pace in the early game and controlling them in the late game. By the time the enemies recover and try to strike back, Albafica and Myu will present a greater challenge to them.

This lineup will instantly fall apart against parties with Lune and Awakened Myu, for Lune's buff will enhance the damage dealt by Myu substantially. The impact will be devastating. Players are recommended to avoid using this lineup when Lune is present in the enemy party.

2. Ace Protection Lineup

God Skill: Hidden

Divine Dohko (Decelerator / Marsh)

Gemini Kanon (Equinox Flower / Decelerator)

Awakened Divine Shiryu (Blood Elf / Daffodil)

Albafica (Fuchsia)

Awakened Underworld Shun (Marsh / Fuchsia)

Awakened Myu (Double-Horned Snake / Felina / Fuchsia)

Ban Slot: Thanatos, AE Saint

Replacement:

Albafica → Surplice Shion / Lune

Gemini Kanon → Lune

Awakened Myu → Surplice Shion

Lineup Strategy:

This is a lineup that excels at both offense and defense in the mid and late game. The two core damage dealers in the party, Kanon and Albafica, are under Divine Shiryu's protection, while Myu fights independently. Hence, players should ban Thanatos, who can effectively counter Myu. Without Thanatos in the enemy lineup, Myu won't be affected by debuffs or control effects at all after he evolves. He can partner up with Underworld Shun to take down several lineups.

At the start of the battle, Divine Dohko casts buffs on Kanon, permanently boosting the effect of his illusion. Afterward, depending on the situation on the battlefield, he may choose to support Divine Shiryu or Myu, or even activate Sword and Spear by using basic attacks, becoming yet another powerful damage dealer in the late game.

Kanon uses his skills to deal damage right at the start of the battle, stacking Determination as fast as he can. Divine Shiryu summons Shield and applies Dragon Seals on his allies. Albafica uses basic attacks and applies stacks of Demon Rose Poison. Underworld Shun relies on Divine Dohko's passive Energy to grant Kanon extra moves, allowing him to stack Determination even more efficiently.

In this lineup, apart from Divine Shiryu, the 4 other Saints work very well with Underworld Shun, especially Kanon and Myu. With Underworld Shun's extra move buff, the development phase for both Saints can be shortened, granting them the ability to deal burst damage in the late game.

3. Low-Speed Fuchsia Lineup

God Skill: Hidden

Odysseus (Fuchsia)

AE Saint (Fuchsia)

Awakened Underworld Shun (Fuchsia)

Albafica (Fuchsia)

Awakened Myu (Fuchsia)

Cain (Fuchsia)

Ban Slot: Awakened Divine Shiryu, Athena

Replacement:

Odysseus → Awakened Saori Kido / Surplice Shion

Awakened Myu → Awakened Pisces / Thanatos

Lineup Strategy:

This is a low-speed lineup that doesn't rely on Energy. Instead, it depends on Odysseus, Underworld Shun, AE Saint, and Cain's protection as well as Fuchsia's attributes to make it to the mid and late game, where Albafica and Myu can finish off the enemies with efficiency. Overall, it is a rather resilient team.

At the start of the battle, Odysseus may use basic attacks, leaving the only 2 Energy to Underworld Shun. AE Saint mainly protects the group in Aries form, while Underworld Shun grants Myu and Albafica extra moves. If the primary strategy is to control the enemies, Underworld Shun may give extra moves to Cain so that the latter can apply Dimensional Seals.

The party has a strong protective ability overall. Cain and Odysseus can prevent certain death, keeping their allies alive. Underworld Shun and AE Saint can restore HP and summon Shield. Myu is a tough opponent to eliminate. Albafica, too, has a passive mechanic in place to prevent death. With Legendary Cosmo Fuchsia, the best Cosmo for high survivability, and well-trained members on the team, this lineup is extremely powerful. It can stand a chance against almost every lineup that exists.

As for the banned Saints, players are recommended to ban Athena, who is capable of dealing fatal blows. In addition, Albafica's AoE attacks and Myu's passive damage in the late game might trigger Divine Shiryu's incessant counterattacks. If possible, keep Divine Shiryu off the battlefield.

Conclusion

Upon his awakening, Underworld Shun's ability to deal high damage is more than adequate. When partnered up with newly-introduced Saints such as Albafica and core members in low-speed lineups or recently-awakened Papillon Myu and Divine Shiryu, their alliance can yield tremendous results. Therefore, low-level players are recommended to rethink their strategies and take notes from the low-speed lineups. Underworld Shun is one of the core members in these lineups, which is perfect for low-level players who intend to start training their Saints.
