Matilda Pre-unlock Spotlight!

Hey guys, following up on my Ragnar Article, here is the one on Matilda!

This one was a bit of a surprise, I did expect Matilda to be a Wind Support but with Atalanta coming soon, I was not 100% sure.

Let’s see what I think about her kit and where she might fit.

Unlocking her

Just like Ragnar, Matilda will be available in the KvK Ancient Remanent chest.

Then once unlocked, she will be available in the special bundle.

Make sure to at least unlock her in the KvK Shop if you plan on trying/maxing her.

Her Class

So Matilda is an Epic Wind Support Immortal.

Wind has been and still is a march only a few should be using.

The main reason is the dragon crystal being so hard to get. Matilda does not change that at all.

So anyone currently not working on a Wind team, I suggest you think carefully before investing in a Wind march.

Her Skill

Increases all allies’ Energy Regen Speed by 6%-20% for 9 seconds, and every damage dealt by the Ultimate Skill, it gains a 6%-20% Damage increase effect that lasts 1.5 seconds for 9 seconds, stacking up to 3 effects.

Let’s break it down:

Her kit is all about Energy Regen and Damage Increase.

20% Energy Regen speed is alright but not game-breaking.

20% Damage Increase that stacks 3 times is very good. It can boost the Damage considerably.

But reading her kit, Matilda is a Wind Support Immortal with absolutely 0 added advantages when used in a wind march.

Matilda or Qin?

2 Support in one march is often not the best. Your front row would need to put out an insane amount of damage while being quite tanky.

Reminder, both Qin and Matilda do not provide any kind of defense or healing from their main skills.

So, you would need to pick between Matilda and Qin.

Let’s take another look at Qin’s kit.

Inflicts Wound on all enemy Units, preventing them from being healed. Increase Attack Speed of all Units by 25%. Also grants Cleave to all Wind Immortals, so their normal attacks deal 50% extra damage to a nearby target. Lasts 8 seconds.

This is where Wind has been very useful, preventing healing!

It all comes from Qin!

Also, as you can see, Qin offers an added advantage to Wind Immortals.

I think Qin is still better for a Wind march. Especially if you are using both Hannibal and Saladin. Even more, if you have Hannibal’s Special Artifact.

With his Artifact, Hannibal does not need any Energy Regen speed increase. Therefore, Matilda's skills only provide him with increased damage.

While Qin adds an extra cleave to his skill.

Her Synergie

Looking at her kit, where would Matilda best be used? Who should you pair her with?

Wind March

If you decide to remove Qin and add matilda:

Baldwin - Matilda - Hannibal - Saladin.

This would be the best choice. Matilda will boost their damage and increase their Energy Regen.

However, this march would be quite frail.

Arthur could replace Hannibal, but then the damage increase would be partly wasted on him.

Earth March

Cleopatra - Matilda - Alex - Charles/Muhammad.

This march would provide the team with a great boost in damage and help with Energy regain as well.

Mixed March

I think Matilda will shine the most in Mixed March.

Why? Because nothing ties her down to a Wind march.

She also provides a set of buffs that can help most damage dealers.

But at the same time, since her kit is also very versatile a lot of testing needs to be done to find where she fits.

I think Matilda might be a support that could be potentially be matched with another support.

Preferably a healer like Zenobia or Theodora.

However, that march would be easily countered by anti-healing immortals.

So in general, I am excited to have another Epic Wind Immortal.

But I am not convinced where she might be best used yet.

I would have loved to see Matilda be a healer, something Wind lacks tremendously.
