Character Training Guide Summary

Skill Configuration

Low: 1,154

Medium: 1,355

High: 1,555

Max: 5,555

Cosmo:

1. High Speed: Branches + Jadelight / Butterfly Jade + New Moon / Crystal Fire + Blood Elf

2. Damage: Branches + The Cross / Arrow + Naga Pearls + Blood Elf

3. Support: Fire Drop / Memphis + The Cross + New Moon / Gardenia + Blood Elf

Sub-attribute Selection Priority: Speed > Status HIT ≥ HP = Life Steal > P.Crit Level = P.ATK > DEF

Reasons:

1. The higher the Speed of Awakened Hypnos, the greater the advantage he has over his opponents, allowing him to choose from a wider pool of enemy units to control with nightmares at the start of the battle.

2. Awakened Hypnos can make enemy units in the nightmare state experience disorder. One of the Cosmo sub-attributes, Status HIT, can increase the chance of causing disorder.

3. HP increases the max damage Hypnos can take, which allows him to remain an outstanding fighter even without his protective cards. Life Steal, on the other hand, protects Hypnos and maintain his survivability when he selects and applies the Doomsday effect.

4. P.Crit Level boosts the max damage dealt by Hypnos, while P.ATK increases the minimum damage he can deal as well as affects the amount of HP restored through the Lost effect.

Awakening Attribute Bonus

Part Bonus: 2,000 HP, 5% P.DMG Res, 5% C.DMG Res, 50 SPD

Treasure Pavilion Bonus: 15% P.ATK, 500 HP

Awakening Skill Analysis

Ethereal Dream - Awakening

Hypnos summons a dreamscape with a chance of causing the target to enter the nightmare state and adding 1 stack of Nightmare Seal to them. He also has an equal chance of adding a Seal to a random enemy Saint at the start of each round.

Once cast, this skill will switch to Inverse Reality - Awakening, increasing Hypnos' ATK with a chance of gaining 1 extra move.

Once awakened, enemy Saints who enter the nightmare state have a chance of experiencing disorder and hitting the wrong target while launching a target-specific attack. Hypnos also gives a protective dreamscape card to the ally unit with the lowest HP to boost their P.DMG Res and C.DMG Res.

Inverse Reality - Awakening: Skill cost: 1; replaces the buff seal on the target with a Nightmare Seal and immediately triggers the current nightmare effect once.

This is Hypnos' core skill. Its skill level affects several aspects of his skill such as the chance of gaining extra moves, causing disorder, the number of dreamscape cards given, skill cooldown, etc. Players are recommended to max this skill first.

Manifested Nightmare

Enemies in the nightmare state will take high damage when attacked. Once the dreamscape is activated, Hypnos can choose 1 from 3 nightmare effects before taking action. After the skill is leveled up to Level 4, the nightmare effect will be leveled up to Level 2.

Downfall: When selected, immediately decreases the target's Speed by 80. During the enemies' turn, decreases the Speed of enemies in the nightmare state by 50.

Doomsday: When selected, immediately deals 300% DMG to the target in the nightmare state. During the enemies' turn, deals 160% DMG to targets in the nightmare state.

Lost: When selected, immediately restores HP equal to 130% of Hypnos' ATK to all ally units. During the enemies' turn, deals 50% DMG to targets in the nightmare state. Each instance of damage will restore HP equal to 50% of Hypnos' ATK to his allies.

This is his passive skill. The nightmare effect influences Hypnos' ability to reduce Speed, deal damage, and restore HP. Players are recommended to level up this skill to at least Level 4.

In-Depth Skill Analysis

Hypnos' core skill mechanism

Nightmare Seal: For the duration of Hypnos' Skill 3, 1 stack of Nightmare Seal on the affected enemy unit will be consumed after they take action, causing them to enter the nightmare state.

Nightmare State: Enemies in the nightmare state cannot take action except during their own turn. Saints who can provide battle assistance and counterattack will be greatly restricted.

Nightmare Seals can be added up to 2 stacks and cannot be purified.

Nightmare Execution

Deals P.DMG to the target, with a chance of adding Nightmare Seals.

This is his basic attack that has a chance of adding Nightmare Seals. This skill is rarely used in the battle. Players may leave this skill to be leveled up last.

Eternal Nightmare

Once the skill is cast on the target, it will add 2 stacks of Nightmare Seals. When the affected target wakes up from the nightmare, they will take P.DMG. If the target is immune to control effects, the damage will be instantly triggered 1 time after they take action. This is Hypnos' primary tactic to add Nightmare Seals. By leveling up this skill, the damage that the affected enemies take after waking up from the nightmare will increase. It is not a priority compared to Skill 3 and 4 but is more important than Skill 1.

Cosmo Setup In-Depth Analysis

1. Branches + Jadelight / Butterfly Jade + New Moon / Crystal Fire + Blood Elf (High-Speed Hypnos)

For Solar Cosmo, the best choice is Branches. It boosts Hypnos' Speed, allowing him to affect an enemy target with nightmares and activate Doomsday. The P.Pierce attribute given by Branches will deal great damage to the target.

For Lunar Cosmo, only 4 options fit the criteria of High-Speed Hypnos: Jadelight, Rune Fate, Butterfly Jade, and Dream Butterfly. Among them, Jadelight and Butterfly Jade possess the Status HIT attribute, which is highly compatible with Hypnos.

For Star Cosmo, the best choice is New Moon. It greatly boosts Hypnos' Speed and strengthens his P.DEF. If players are already satisfied with Hypnos' current Speed, they may go with Crystal Fire, of which the set effects include 100 points of Pierce, a rather helpful attribute to Hypnos.

The recommended Legendary Cosmo is Blood Elf. The damage dealt by Hypnos is not particularly high, but his strength lies in its recurrence. Equipped with Blood Elf, Hypnos' ability to deal effective damage increases significantly, allowing him to create opportunities for his allies to finish off the enemies.

Solar Cosmo: Branches (Sub-attributes: SPD, Status HIT, HP, P.Crit Level)

Lunar Cosmo: Jadelight / Butterfly Jade (Sub-attributes: SPD, Status HIT, HP, P.ATK)

Star Cosmo: New Moon / Crystal Fire (Sub-attributes: Life Steal, P.Crit Level, HP, P.ATK)

Legendary Cosmo: Blood Elf (Sub-attributes: SPD, Status HIT, Life Steal, HP)

2. Branches + The Cross / Arrow + Naga Pearls + Blood Elf (Medium-Speed Hypnos)

For adequate Speed and the ability to deal higher damage, Hypnos needs to rely on Branches' Pierce attribute, making it the best choice of Solar Cosmo.

The recommended Lunar Cosmo is The Cross for self-defense. High P.DEF and HP ensure Hypnos survives longer. If players are not satisfied with their Status HIT after using The Cross, they may switch to Arrow and forgo P.DEF for Status HIT, increasing the chance of creating disorder.

Choosing Naga Pearls for Star Cosmo increases Hypnos' HP and ability to deal effective damage, as well as provides 15% P.DMG Res. Combined with 10% P.DMG Res of The Cross, Hypnos will gain a huge advantage over P.DMG-specialized Saints.

The recommended Legendary Cosmo is the same as the one for High-Speed Hypnos: Blood Elf. Coupled with the Pierce effect of Branches and Naga Pearls, Blood Elf's high-frequency defense breaching effect will bring Hypnos' DMG to the next Level.

Solar Cosmo: Branches (Sub-attributes: SPD, Status HIT, HP, P.Crit Level)

Lunar Cosmo: The Cross / Arrow (Sub-attributes: SPD, Status HIT, HP, P.ATK

Star Cosmo: Naga Pearls (Sub-attributes: Life Steal, P.Crit Level, HP, P.ATK)

Legendary: Blood Elf (Sub-attributes: SPD, Status HIT, Life Steal, HP)

3. Fire Drop / Memphis + The Cross + New Moon / Gardenia + Blood Elf (Functional Hypnos)

To maintain basic functionality under the circumstance of insufficient Branches for speed-boosting purpose, Hypnos resorts to equipping himself with Fire Drop for Solar Cosmo and forgoes the ability to deal great damage.

The recommended Lunar Cosmo is The Cross, which gives Hypnos high DMG Res to face Thanatos, AE Saint, and other powerful P.ATK damage dealers. Players can also pick Spirit Print to deal with high C.ATK Saints.

The recommended Star Cosmo is New Moon. The functionality of High-Speed Hypnos is higher than his medium and low-speed counterparts. New Moon is the Star Cosmo with the highest Speed, followed by Gardenia. It will increase Hypnos' survivability.

The recommended Legendary Cosmo is still Blood Elf. Functional Hypnos favors the Lost effect, dealing low damage while lowering the target's DEF. This allows his allies to deal great damage and finish off the enemy.

Awakened Hypnos' Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages:

When Skill 3 is activated, the main target will enter the nightmare state instantaneously. This has an especially devastating impact on Awakened Myu, Awakened Orphée, Divine Taurus, Awakened Divine Shiryu, Artemis, and other powerful Saints.

Targets in the nightmare state have a chance of experiencing disorder. As a result, they struggle to hit their intended targets during the attack, undermining the effectiveness of the skills they cast and thus giving Hypnos the upper hand.

Once the dreamscape is activated, 1 stack of Nightmare Seal will be added to a random enemy unit. Combined with Hypnos' Skill 2, which actively applies Nightmare Seals to the enemies, multiple enemy units will enter the nightmare state every round. Hypnos will then be able to deal damage more effectively.

Disadvantages:

Hypnos is very useful to counter against Saints like Divine Shiryu and Divine Taurus. When these Saints are weakened, Hypnos' strength diminishes.

Average self-defense. Even though Skill 3 provides protective dreamscape cards that increase his P.DMG Res and C.DMG Res, Hypnos is not difficult to defeat.

Weak in the late game. At the final stage of the battle, the enemy Saints' actions are limited. Nightmare effects are triggered less frequently. Hypnos' ability to deal damage and restore HP will be impacted as well.

Effective against: Awakened Hypnos, Awakened Golden Hyoga, Awakened Orphée, Awakened Divine Shiryu, Divine Taurus, Awakened Minos, Awakened Pandora, Awakened Evil Saga, Awakened Myu, etc.

Weak against: Awakened Hypnos, Thanatos, AE Saint, Awakened Underworld Shun, Lune, etc.

Party Lineup

1. All-God Lineup

God Skill: Hidden

Awakened Athena (Iris / Decelerator / Marsh)

Awakened Hypnos (Blood Elf / Heaven and Earth)

Artemis (Heaven and Earth)

Awakened Hades (Heaven and Earth / Myrrh / Rising Dragon Teeth / Fuchsia)

Thanatos (Fuchsia / Double-Horned Snake)

Persephone (Fuchsia / Scarab / Soapberry)

Ban Slot: Commander Pandora, Hades Alone, Surplice Shion

Replacement:

Artemis → AE Saint / Divine Cloth Shun

Awakened Hades → Awakened Poseidon

Lineup Strategy:

This all-god team comprises six SS Saints. Athena, Hades, and Persephone drain the enemies' HP. Artemis deals burst damage and deprives the enemiy. Hypnos' functionality maintains the performance of the lineup. Thanatos is an outstanding damage dealer. Together, they make a formidable team.

Once Surplice Shion is placed in the Ban Slot, Hypnos can select Doomsday effect at the start of the battle. If the enemy lineup's attacks remain aggressive, Hypnos can switch to Lost to restore HP.

The lineup hardly runs out of Energy, so it is not necessary to equip the team with Marsh. At the start of the battle, Athena generates Energy for Hypnos and Artemis. Hypnos activates the dreamscape and selects a nightmare effect. Artemis takes on the Hunt aspect, minimizing Energy cost for Hades. Thanatos and Persephone launch basic attacks at the respective suitable targets.

When the second round begins, Artemis and Thanatos deal burst damage while waiting for Persephone's Seeds to take effect. Based on the situation on the battlefield, Hypnos may choose from the Doomsday, Lost, or Downfall effects. Hades launches basic attacks to apply Slave Marks on enemy targets while preparing to ascend to a more powerful form.

In the third round, the lineup has a great chance of gaining victory. With Artemis and Thanatos' burst damage, Hades' contract, Hypnos' frequent HP recovery, Persephone's Seeds, and Athena's powerful attacks, this lineup is almost unstoppable.

2. Classic Scorpion Lineup

God Skill: Hidden

Awakened Athena (Marsh)

Awakened Hypnos (Blood Elf)

Thanatos (Fuchsia / Double-Horned Snake)

Awakened Divine Shiryu (Blood Elf / Daffodil / Scarab)

Divine Cloth Shun (Fuchsia)

Divine Scorpio (Chimera / Felina)

Ban Slot: Commander Pandora, Divine Taurus, Divine Camus

Replacement:

Thanatos → AE Saint

Lineup Strategy:

This was a popular team when Divine Scorpio was at his peak. The lineup is incredibly secure. Divine Shiryu and Divine Cloth Shun's protection, Divine Shiryu's counterattacks, and Hypnos' frequent damage allow Divine Scorpio to light up his meridian star points swiftly.

In this lineup, Athena needs to equip herself with Marsh, or else the team won't be able to fully operate in the first round. Athena generates Energy, allowing easily-attacked allies to deal basic attacks, as well as supplying energy to Divine Scorpio.

The higher the frequency of Hypnos' burst attacks, the better. After he activates the dreamscape, it will be easier for Divine Scorpio to light up his meridian star points. Divine Shiryu summons Shield to protect Thanatos and Divine Cloth Shun, while Divine Cloth Shun mainly protects Divine Scorpio.

If the enemy party does not have control skills that are effective against Divine Cloth Shun, players may consider hiding Hypnos, the least secure member on the team. Otherwise, players are recommended to hide Divine Cloth Shun, allowing him to support Divine Scorpio and win the battle.

3. Extreme Speed Lineup

God Skill: Hidden

Awakened Divine Seiya (Heaven and Earth)

Awakened Athena (Decelerator / Iris)

Awakened Hypnos (Blood Elf)

Surplice Shion (Marsh)

AE Saint (Heaven and Earth / Myrrh)

Hades Alone (Tree of Resurrection)

Ban Slot: Awakened Underworld Shun, Divine Taurus, Persephone

Replacement:

Hades Alone → Thanatos / Albafica

Surplice Shion → Divine Cloth Shun / Divine Dohko

Lineup Strategy:

It is a high-speed damage dealing team that requires well-trained members. At the start of the battle, Divine Seiya aims at his intended targets and ascends into the sky while casting Skill 2, swiftly eliminating enemy units as Athena activates Land of Love and Peace. Meanwhile, Hypnos activates the dreamscape to trigger 3 instances of battle assistance.

Once Divine Seiya is in the air, Athena generates Energy for Hypnos, and the latter selects the target attacked by Divine Seiya and causes them to enter the nightmare state, aggravating the damage they take. Based on the situation at hand, Hypnos may choose to activate the Doomsday or Lost effect to assist Divine Seiya again.

The 5 instances of damage dealt by Divine Seiya's Skill 2 have a chance of weakening the targets. With 3 instances of battle assistance and damage dealt by Hypnos, Divine Seiya can likely finish off a vulnerable enemy unit instantaneously and gain the upper hand.

Surplice Shion protects Hypnos. AE Aries summons Shield to protect the party. At this point, 7 moves have been made. Alone has a chance of entering Hades form and wielding tremendous power.

In the second round, Divine Seiya remains in the air (once awakened, he will launch fatal attacks at the targets and land immediately without experiencing exhaustion). Hypnos' Skill 2 triggers battle assistance for Surplice Shion and AE Aries, saving up the Energy for Alone.

This lineup must be supported by high-Level Saints, as well as high Speed and Pierce attributes. In the early game, the lineup's attacks are vigorous and aggressive. Without Divine Taurus, Underworld Shun, and Persephone in the enemy party, the lineup can launch deadly attacks easily. In the late game, the team can rely on AE Saint and Alone to maintain its strength.

Conclusion

Once awakened, Hypnos' attributes are improved overall, particularly his ability to cast control effects. There is an increase in the number of targets he can control with nightmares, as well as the chance of causing disorder. When he summons the dreamscape, the main target will enter the nightmare state instantaneously. This works especially well against Awakened Orphée, Divine Taurus, and other popular and powerful Saints. In the foreseeable future, Hypnos shall earn his place in the galaxy as a formidable fighter.
